I honestly prefer Yoruichi's old design given it's sheer practicality and representation of her removing herself from Soul Society and it's stifling/dangerous nobility. Simple yet modern, stealthy yet casual.

With Soi Fon, it looks more like they were thinking of what to do for her and one creator was like "remember the anime filler, the Zanpakuto rebellion where her Zanpakuto spirit emerged? Let's use that as a base and then we can figure out where to put her Bankai features".

That arc is filler for sure, but there's some interesting canon things that came out of that. Shunsui's zanpakutou spirit in TYBW, for example. I don't think BBS is exactly new to that arc's design elements either lol. So who knows, perhaps Kubo has more of a hand in some of these BBS exclusives than people think.

I think that is her sword...would explain why it didn't fit her style she seemed like she hated being a princess. So since she was royalty her shikai and bankai took on royal aspects.

Soi fons is a direct reference to the Zanpakto filler arc. The big arm of her Shikai is taken from her zanpakto spirit in that arc.

I always figured Yoroichi since she didn't like to use her zanpakuto had one that completely goes against her hakuda abilities. Like it would be a hindrance to it or just her overall abilities as a whole. Just like Soi Fon hates her bankai cause it isn't something you'd use for assassination

Yoruichi was one of the ones I wasn't really interested in getting, but I'm kinda glad I did, because while I don't use her much in game, she is kinda neat to have. And her special attack animation is really fun and graceful. I'm kinda hoping we get "beyond" versions of the Visored. (Rose, Love, Kensei, Lisa, Mashiro, Hiyori, and Hachigen)

Ever since the reveal of her hating her bankai and upon learning more about shinigami powers in the Thousand Year Blood War arc, through characters like Ichigo, Renji and Byakuya, I began to wonder: could Soifon's zanpakuto have given her a fake name, due to Soifon rejecting her own personality? *It was a really long post, so I just took the most relevant part of it for you to see.*

Also one thing to note, Soi Fon's tagline is peak of happiness. Sounds ridiculous but remember that her Zanpakuto called her boring. Basically this form is her being completely attuned with Suzumebachi.

Another thing is that we have seen her family crest on the device that Ukitake and Kyoraku used to destroy the Sokyoku which I believe may have been one of the devices that Yoshiro brought his sister. Also I love how Soi Fon was upgraded since she’s always preferred her Shikai and hated her bankai, it’s amazing and beautiful 😻

All of the talk about the Five Noble Families really makes me wonder what all of them are responsible for. If we assume the Shihoin Family is responsible for heavenly objects/weapons and the Tsunayashiro Family is responsible for keeping the history of the Soul Society (as stated per CFYOW), I am curious what the Kuchiki Family are responsible for and surprised it isn't ever mentioned since there are quite prominent characters in the series from that particular Noble Family and CFYOW seemed like a perfect place to divulge that piece of lore. The Shiba Family, before their exile, is also another one with a lot of known characters and unknown role, but they _are_ responsible for the cannon that is used to transport people to the Soul King's Palace, so I always assumed their responsibility was something to do with that. And then as far as I know, we still don't know who the last of the original Five Noble Families is as they didn't show up to the meetings with the other heads present in Seireitei during CFYOW. Hopefully we will learn more about them eventually and perhaps there is a way to link them to the Hell Arc or another future Light Novel. 🤔

Yeah. I'm kinda suspicious about that last family now, since we're getting the Hell stuff and also the fact that Hell is a direct part of their reason to participate in the whole SK thing. It sounds like it could be some sort of whole mirror world down there, with everyone from captains to espada (and perhaps Quincies... depending on the logistics of when the "die and return to Yhwach" thing applied). Does that family rule over all of this? Was that what the line about the "warden of Hell" being omniscient was about?

I think the theory makes sense. I’d probably go just a little bit further with it, with how Shinken Hakyouken means they cannot take up a zanpakuto, maybe Yoruichi’s clan wasn’t so different. Neither does her brother to my knowledge. I believe they might be using their Zanpakuto for something besides as a Shinigami, and maybe in return, they have access to the weapons. Not sure if the weapon which had a quantified tally of how many Zanpakuto’s power it has something to do with the matter, but if that does, it might make sense. Then because Yoruichi has never used her Zanpakuto, she is more used to fighting without any weapons.

Except Byakuya and Tokinada have both a clan zanpakutou and a personal one. The Ise clan are priest(esse)s, so it makes sense in their case to take up a ceremonial sword and not have a personal one used in battle. The Shihoin, being of the 5 great noble families, would probably be more like the others from that group that we know of. Plus, I'm pretty sure she's made a statement that she simply prefers not using it.

@MrTommo2304 I had this idea a while back when I first watched the final battle between Aizen and Dango Ichigo when it aired. That there technically was an "Absolute Release" or "Transcendent Release" to a Shinigami's Zanpakuto beyond Shikai (Partial Release) and Bankai (Full Release). As Ichigo put it, during his battle, it was "The FINAL Getsuga Tensho." In other words, It's the final most mature stage a Zanpakuto can achieve, releasing all of its limiters and going 110% beyond what it is normally capable of. Essentially, Shinigami and Zanpakuto spirit briefly merging and becoming one. It's a great risk/great reward scenario.

If what happened in the manga is the rule, the people responsible for the serimonial weapons don't get a zampakuto, in which case that explains why she developed a unique technique for fighting.

It may be possible the shihoin blade may be again another zanpakuto that keeps you in bankai at all times. That could explain why we see her in that garb prior. It's possible the garb comes from the bankai similar to how we see Ichigo and rukia's bankai provide clothes for them. This would explain her quote about why she doesn't use her zanpakuto. It's because the garb gets in the way of her movements. Remember Beyond bankai seems to upgrade the bankai to an appearance that is much more practical while gaining incredible power so the changes to her garb in this for are justified as it makes her ability to move around easier while still maintaining that level of power.

What if, Yoruichi's zanpakuto power is actually a ceremonial garb? The reason for Yoruichi said, it is cumbersome to use her own zanpakuto is going to make sense since it is limiting her actions.

When I first read it, it made me think of the items Ukitake and Shunsui showed up with to destroy the sokyoku. It could be the thing Urahara uses to get into the palace (after all, he was hinted to have either seen or visited the palace in the past). It also makes me wonder how Tokinada got in to steal Ikomikidomoe - does every noble family have a way to access the palace? It would make sense, and this would be the second we've seen, with the first being the Shiba family's cannon, IIRC). The other option is that the items are whatever Yoruichi uses to seal Mimihagi in as a SK replacement. I know it's because the (however many) defensive barriers to the palace are down at the time, but it's kinda funny how the palace is portrayed as completely inaccessible, then as soon as the plot requires it, every noble family and their dog has a way of conveniently getting there. Even the Fullbringers were able to do it with their powers, which is probably the funniest one since they literally appear right in the throne room of the Soul King...

Been watch all your videos and your the only person I come to watch for bleach. The other people aren’t as interesting or have the good picture quality. Don’t read the mange but I’m rewatching bleach for the 3rd time. You always say chads training and growth and downfall is repeated. I agree. What if since we got the hell arc, and his powers are “hellish names” for his left and right arm.. he is the power house for this arc to come. He finally shines on the last arc. “He only shines in hell” like his family may be the unknown family to resides over the keepers of hell type of thing. That’s why him and ichigo are great friends without knowing the true past of the great noble houses. What do you think?

Honestly, considering it was the royal families that imprisoned the Soul King, it would make sense for each of those families to have heirloom weapons passed down that are specially designed to face off against some aspect of the Soul King's powers. Had they established that earlier on when it became apparent that Yhwatch broke into the palace or before, Nanao's situation probably would've been better accepted, as well as Yuruichi's. Like they could've just made Yuruichi's power one that is so specifically designed to counter the Soul King, that it's otherwise useless, like if it only allowed the user to escape from the sight of the Almighty, in Bankai, and Shikai actually blinded the user, and they worked together so that they could only use Bankai for as long as they were in Shikai. That'd make sense for why Yuruichi'd never use her zanpakuto. I love the idea of inherited zanpakuto/ritual weapons. I think having stuff like this would've really helped with both world building how the Soul King was originally defeated and also why certain characters are or fight they way they do. It'd also give some characters ample reason and opportunity to master and utilize skills that can only be achieved by abandoning your zanpakuto or avoiding using it altogether, like Yuruichi's cat form etc

As far as we can theorize her zanpakuto is at least lightning element as far as name, ability and conept is up for brainstorming. My guess its similar to soifon the ability is connected to her shunpo or stealth corp training as well as hakudo theme wise id say heavenly or hell even cat motive since a lot of cat of nekomata simbolism is mainly focused on her. Her behavior, her cat form and even her lightning cat form kisuke made her use so id they do reveal her zanpakuto id make sense this would be the thought process.

Soi Fon's outfit reminds me more of that filler zanpaktou arc design of her zanpaktou released to a more human form. Literally huge stinger arm speedy hornet so if these forms really are fusion based, in a way, she has actually become her zanpaktou design wise

For Yoruichi I think I would have gone down a different path, and a different form of assassination, that of the drone, basically she would have to ability to create a number of drones (and can make more as they are taken out), the drones would have been hornet like and have two attacks, each having "two hit kills" that they could all exploit, and the ability to fire smaller cero-like blast that while not strong, the can fire to and from mulitple directions and add up. As for the package that Yusudo delivers, it was probably Yoruichi's Zanpakuto, which got ignored because Karbo was running out of time and cut things short.

Soi Fon's Shikai used to be one of my favorites before Aizen/Kubo dropped the "no, cause reiatsu" rule. But even without the bs ability canceling, if she stabs someone in the throat, they just get a little mark instead of a destroyed neck?

Probably depends on her intent, but thinking about it a bit.. if there was someone who was fast enough that she only had time to hit them once, they're probably strong enough that the single neck strike that would kill regular people wouldn't be enough, requiring her to hit them again in that spot later for the instakill

I mean, that was always sort of a thing. Kenpachi vs Ichigo was based on the idea. Ichigo couldn't cut Ken at all because he didn't understand how reiatsu worked. Sure, the Aizen thing was a way more overt version of it, but it was affirming a point that was always there.

During Ichigo vs Aizen, at the last moment Aizen failed to sense Ichigo's power , can someone explain more detail to me what exactly is going on ?

Same thing that went on with Isshin and co not being able to sense Aizen's power. Aizen himself explains it, its about scope. Once your power got to a certain level those weaker than you couldn't sense it. The same happened with him and Ichigo, but Aizen was too arrogant to think something like that was possible to him with his new power, that he came up with his own flawed explanation.

Aizen kinda already explained it with his 3 Dimensional Being and 2 Dimensional being explanation. Think about it like this Shinigami and Hollows would be 3-D Beings. Transcended Aizen would be 4-D, so Shinigami and Hollows can't sense him unless he lowers his level Dangai Ichigo would be 5-D at a level where even Transcended Aizen can't sense him Monster Aizen would eventually grow to 5-D after evolving to a level where he can harm Ichigo sense him Final Getsuga Tensho Ichigo would be 6-D, since he ascended to a level that even Monster Aizen wasn't able to sense at all Even if you don't take them leveling up dimensions literally that's a good analogy for it

Interesting note: In the game story it's been explained most recently that these new forms are made using an enhanced version of the puppet thing Ichigo used to train for Bankai. Anyway it makes the most sense that her Zanpakuto is something huge and heavy. Maybe even stationary in Bankai. It would be neat one day to see like the characters needing to break through something or something that, just like Shinji's Bankai in the novel, would be the one very specific instance her Zanpakuto would be useful so we can at least see the damn thing lol.

Ngl, I think soifons beyond bankai would have been alot cooler if it was like her bankai, but compressed and scaled down(a little like ichigos bankai). She could have had a sniper rifle, which shot bullets that was the same power as her bankai bazooka. Would have fit really well with the assassin theme too
