Today I was broken up with on my girlfriend and I was pretty irrational for a minute but I had to stop and realize I am feeling this way because I am afraid not being heard or being alone. So i collected my feelings and thoughts and decide to write it down so I can analyze and do some shadow work later on after work ✨ And we also made up for it and now I know I must improve myself a lot more than I thought Thank you so much Robert Greene you changed my life 2 years ago.

I usually am able to do that. However, I had a small melt down when something broke and I tried everything in my power to fix it and felt helpless and defeated because my beloved husband Gerald wasn't there to fix things around the house like he usually does. He passed away last year and I've been lost ever since. I felt like a small lost child crying for their parent. Thank the Lord our 19 yr old son heard me crying and stepped in to assess the situation and he fixed it. He hugged me afterwards and had to help me get into bed so I could calm down. I'm still crying!😭

A minute of rage can undo a lifetime of diligent effort. Self-control is self-preservation. Most of us won't look back on the moments we acted in anger as among our finest. Do not act when the tide of rage flows in. Wait for it to go out. Then act with reason and proportion.

My take on it is that it's not merely a question of thinking about your problem in circles , but just to recognize it from "outside the box" and that will indeed make you feel like youre on top / in control of the current feeling. Acknowledging something happens within is not easy and I believe it calms you down in some sense. At least from my experience (even unconsciously maybe)

My late dad Dr Morgan Job was the first person to start me on this path. He used to say "Man, know thyself" and "the unexamined life is not worth living" and "think it through" and things like that. But he stopped short of anything emotional except to say I needed to be DISPASSIONATE. Robert though, he breaks it down. I guess my dad was a bit too advanced for me.

The detached viewpoint of soul is 360 degrees. It has abilities that the mental and emotional bodies don’t have. If we let the mind & emotions run amok they will make a mess of things if triggered. Soul will give me clear info, or a warning, & often I ignore it, not realizing that my emotional self is in control & is setting me up - it’s self sabotage. Soul is the higher true self, & it should be in control & “driving the bus”. The 5 passions of the mind; lust, vanity, greed, attachment and anger can easily prevent us from switching to that detached viewpoint of SOUL, that will save us from another painful, costly, or awful lesson.

Frequently there's NO TIME to stop and ponder! When the shit is hitting the fan, people are too busy to take a break, stop and reflect. They can feel under attack. Maybe they ARE under attack. They can be put on the spot. They can be far too busy to be able to stop and reflect. It's fine if you're a professor or theorist sitting in your office. But most of us don’t have that luxury.

It gets even easier when you can recognize those thoughts and "take them captive and make them obedient to Jesus Christ". Iraq combat vet PTSD: 7 years of all kinds of approaches with the VA and other institutions. And honestly my experience with the VA was really good. But the meds and therpay didnt do jack squat. At times it made me worse. I would identify the thought, logically track it to its source, identify the source of the thought, and decide to either reframe or rid myself of harmful thoughts. Thought after thought after thought. But one year of diving into scripture and leaning on Jesus and I'm living my best life hands down. The Bible is basically Cognitive Processing Therapt(CPT). Excelt CPT leaves out the most crucial component: Jesus Christ!
