I apologize if you've mentioned this before but why are you losing money on your youtube vids? I have an ad blocker on so are you not running ads and that's why? or is it because you don't take sponsors? I hope you and Daniela (hope I spelled her name right, apologies if I didn't) are able to make more of an income because the work you both do is important. Thank you for keeping fashion accessible

@@foxwilliamulderKZbin ads make very little money. 7 weeks of Dani and I working on this video will probably make about $1500. That’s it 😅 We aren’t big enough for most sponsorships. We’ll take sponsors sometimes, but it’s rare bc we won’t accept sponsorships from fashion brands-it’s a conflict of interest. We feel this work is important, but we can’t do it without support from our viewers 💫💫

Take this as positive feedback: posting this 1/1,5 month too late will not make me run to your Patreon. I've seen all of this already cause Paris Fashion Week was the last week of September, not the first week of November when you're posting this. If you don't want to lose money in fashion: be more up to date... ❤

I love having your in depth analyses like these to listen to at my hospital job. You talk about fashion like a new friend at a crowded little bar, scooting your barstool closer and explaining to us something we've always been curious about. Effusive, approachable, and eager to bring another open mind into this thing you deeply adore.

Hi Bliss, I'm about halfway through the video but I'd like to comment this before I forget: I appreciate your honesty in regards to the Comme Des Garçons review. It's certainly not an easy brand to really "explain". But in cases like this, it's no big deal. You've already given us the insane in depth review of the lumps and bumps show. To me, a major reason why I watch the Paris videos is to get a sense of what it's like. Only a small percentage of us can be there to experience this, let alone each season, let alone going to the actual show. So a behind the scenes look of what it's actually like to experience such things is SO nice to see. Just the way you did it in this part of the review: telling and showing us what it's like to walk up to the show is already a glimpse into the mysterious world of CDG. It helps with the world-building. But unfortunately many CDG fans can't experience this. In terms of the show, simply *describing* what you saw is already great to hear, since you're bound to have seen details that we can't. Especially when you're in the showrooms (think material and such). Rei also criticized the whole idea of viewing shows digitally rather than in real life, in one of her past shows (by making those 2D looks). I hope this gives some perspective! The reviews are always great but don't be afraid to leave in the fun facts or interesting stories or what leads up to the show. (You often do this but I'm telling you regardless.) Amazing video so far, great work! 🫶

Bliss! I've now learned about 2 brilliant Armenian women from your videos: Véronique Nichanian and Lauren Manoogian. So, as someone born, raised, & currently living in Armenia, as someone who gets childishly excited when hearing about Armenians anywhere, I thank you. Having lived through a war largely ignored by the west, hearing names like theirs gives me hope that we will be relevant someday. I don't know if any of this makes sense but just wanted to tell you how grateful I am: for Lauren and Véronique, and for your insanely captivating analysis in general. Lots of love from this tiny spot on the map 🤍

1:00:43. “It’s always plastic flowers”. That statement said so much to me. My mother has been into flowers and plants for as long as I have been alive and has instilled in me an appreciation of the effort that goes into caring for plants. That has led me to appreciate whenever I see flowers where they may be in the world. To appreciate flower arrangements and the colors of people choose to bring into their homes, their businesses. Their lives. And then I go to smell them. “It’s always plastic flowers.”they give you everything you want. They never die. They never wilt. They never lose their color. They never need water. They never need you. They are persistent. So why would you put in the effort of growing your own plants? Making sure they’re watered. Making sure the soil is good. Cleaning the roots. Pruning them. “Uncertain Future” Plants can’t speak. Yet they speak to us all the same. we don’t know what the future holds, but we hope that our actions will allow us to be able to continue to pursue things like caring for flowers. Or else we’re gonna be left with just the memory by way of plastic flowers instead of being able to directly impact life. The whole show seems to reference climate change and negative affects on the world. Soon we’ll get to a point where real flowers won’t be able to be grown. the toil of humans won’t be needed. But we can still maintain the aesthetic. “it’s always plastic flowers.” And that makes me extremely sad

V on putting nature in scare quotes: "Where does the planet sit amongst all the stars? Who knows, it's a super brain freeze But an easier question than that is to ask yourself Where we sit in the sea of art history Like, that's tangible, that's man-made Man-made art, so the history of it, we fit in Another like, sort of framework to dwell on is, like, where do we live? You know, you live in a house I guarantee the house that you grew up in is what you define as a house But, for someone that grew up on the opposite side of the world What they grew up in, they think of as a house A kitchen, a living room, a roof, a door, et cetera Just shit to think about, you know Whole bullet point is, the world inside it is man-made It's all metaphoric, man has flaws Man loves power, everything is man-made And, what's more dangerous than that?"

Genuinely cannot express how much I appreciate the work you two do. Watching your videos opened doors for me as a fashion enjoyer that I would’ve never been able to even ‘find’ on my own. Specifically with MOL, as soon as Nico picked up Julia’s favorite piece (the blazer/top with the lace appliqués) I immediately went to their website and pre-ordered it just because of the instant joy it brought me. The thick, cream fabric and the deconstruction-esque frayed edges paired with the hand-threaded lace pieces just creates something so sick and I can’t wait to see myself in it come spring 2025. Again, thank you Bliss and Dani for the work you two do to shed light on new/lesser-known brands who otherwise might go unnoticed even within the more niche fashion community.

I feel like Rei's creations and shows are the perfect example of fashion as art that shouldn't be interpreted, as interpretation categorises it and turns into sth utilitarian. It reminds me of a Susan Sontag book 'Against Interpretation' I read many years ago but found very relatable so it sticked in mind, quote "Interpretation, based on the highly dubious theory that a work of art is composed of items of content, violates art. It makes art into an article for use, for arrangement into a mental scheme of categories."

I never comment on youtube videos but I have to say: I always enjoy watching your videos, because sometimes I truly feel like I'm trapped in a bubble of pessimism about fashion online, when I hear other journalists or critics talking. But you and Daniela have such a great perspective and you look at things in a fresh way (and I remember both of you have college degrees in other fields then fashion, so I guess that gives a whole new view), and that makes me fall in love with fashion again. When I saw Akris clothing in this video I almost cried because it's just so soft and beautiful and well thought. Thank you for your perspective and for not just looking at the same thing. I believe you guys balance the mainstream fashion brands, with designer that were always there but did not get the same attention, delicacy and care you are giving, and also with new people that have so much knowledge and interest. I really feel smarter after watching these videos. It's not 'content', it's educational and insightful.

Im watching this video in pieces - thank you so much! Regarding Comme des Garcons, I saw the statement and runway to reference homelessness even before you delved into her other political themes. Walking shelter and trash in a time of war, housing crisis, and as she said, "uncertainty." I live in the Bay Area where homelessness and housing is at the forefront of conversation. Homeless encampment sweeps are creating problems on the streets and homeless people lose their belongings, medical gear, and papers in sweeps. The work seems to clearly reference nomadism and crisis . Amazing work

Would you ever consider making a video about Japanese fashion and it’s influence on western fashion in the 21st century? I’m your biggest fan. Thank you for this gift

I'm 8 minutes in and just realized this is a 3 hour video. This is nothing short of a fantastic production coverage. This is coming from someone who just shot Taipei Fashion Week (runway and events). I would love to also see some coverage on Taiwan. I feel Taiwan is in it's early stages of fashion show events and it's very interesting to see their development. There are a lot of interesting designers here taking inspiration form Korea and Japan, I feel they are bit underrated. As an American, it feels like fashion here is a melting pot of inspiration from multiple different countries with Taiwan looking to find their identity. If this interests you, fee free to reach out to me on socials. Thanks!

Jeremy Lewis from LEWIS Mag has a tribute to Issey where he refers to asking Issey about fashion, just before he passed, and his response was “I don’t do fashion anymore, I just make clothes.” This to me is likely one of the reasons, they aren’t getting that much attention. They might be doing little positioning and advertising (think brand ambassadors too) to be top of mind in the ‘fashion world’. I also think that Issey’s approach with design/creative direction feels very studio-based despite having Satoshi as its head compared to other brands whose creative directors are also somewhat famous.

I agree with your take on Balenciaga. Demna has a hard time with peoples negative comments online. He has changed the fashion landscape. Its a pity Peter Do has just left Helmut Lang. How does 1 year with a brand allow a designer to grow.
