I for one really enjoyed this lovely fishing short so thank you to all involved in its making; and a bigger thank you to all of those at the Avon Roach project. I applaud you all. Matt ;-)

Should be on national TV but unlikely as it points the finger at cormorants - something that the fluffy RSPCA and RSPB do not like and would not allow the BBC (among others) to show. I can't commend these guys highly enough, well done lads, how do we contribute?

Not sure where you get your info from, sounds like it could be the Daily Mail or similar, but the RSPB are committed to preserving all of our wildlife, including roach, not just birds. They might not be adverse to a cormorant cull to save roach should it be deemed absolutely necessary. They have caused controversy over culls of foxes, gulls and crows to protect the rapidly declining curlew so not as fluffy as you assume. Uncertain whether they are justified or not and certainly wouldn't want to pass judgement without knowing all the facts, will leave that to the loud-mouthed and ignorant who are great at gobbing off about subjects they know very little about. Anyway hats off to the ARP, what a fantastic thing to do. More people need to be proactive with the things they care about, especially threatened habitat and species.

There needs to be a Cull on the cormorants. I have heard rumours of someone that shoots on average 200 a year. But that is just a drop in the ocean. Fair play to you guys for your hard work in giving these roach a fighting chance. Let’s hope most make it 👍🏼

A fantastic project i first heard of probably a decade ago and now seeing it brought to life by Hugh Miles go's to show with a plan dedication and probably a bit of arm twisting how much can be achieved to make a dream a reality Well done fellas Bill hacker

Cormorants have wiped out whole populations of silver fish in waters of all kinds all over the country which in turn has affected predator species such as pike which have less to feed on and even herons which are now having to visit garden ponds. There is a need for a balance I agree with protecting wildlife but you cannot protect one if it costs another and cormorants are getting more plentiful and wider spread so action is required. These guys are just marvelous I would love to help them if I lived nearer I hope that this might motivate others to do the same elsewhere.

Avon roach! I'm a very lucky man, the Dorset Stour and Hampshire Avon on my doorstep. There is nothing so satisfying as catching and returning a 2lb or 3lb Roach back into the river.

10 years later and this seems to have worked, there used to be huge roach, many 2lb plus and the occasional 3lber caught, then these fish passed away of old age and with very few young fish to replace them, the roach population almost disappeared, now in 2023 we are seeing more and more roach caught, with some between 1-2lbs.

These gentlemen are doing a fantastic thing, when I was a boy the Avon in evesham was teeming with fish of all types, sadly it’s not the same anymore, good luck to them.

So do we wait until cormorants completely empty our waters of fish? Or do we start to get rid of the cormorants? There's only one solution to me

where was there a bad cormorant attack on roach for us to see in this film? vague evidence and marks on fish that were not proven to be caused by a cormorant whatso ever. decline in a fish population is never good if reports are correct, i see cormorants come and go on a pond i can see from my living room and its awefull to think of the devastation they are supposedly causing every day. what i catch now as opposed to two years ago has declined but id like to think nature has a fluctual balance.

You are speaking from a standpoint of ignorance, so your comments are neither measured nor valid. The government themselves now accept the devastation caused by Cormorants and have increased the numbers that can be culled. I suspect that you are a member of the RSPB. Please don’t peddle your ignorance here
