GDP per capital in nominal terms is not that useful, you really have to look into purchasing power parity. As an example, Cauliflower in US is about 4 dollars, in india it’s less than 50 cents !!

i really think extempore interviews are overrated as they only serve to catch the person's errors or missteps. So i think prepared or re-written responses should always be rated more than a spur of the moment response which many times goes a different way than what that person may intend. But i do agree that the tough questions should be asked and points should be raised. I also don't care if the PM responds to the questions or one of the ministers does as long as it is an official answer and not the personal opinion of that minister. I agree with the concepts of what you are saying but do think that some items require another layer of counter argument in the interest of getting a full picture. On the GDP point for example, the nominal GDP and nominal PPP are really not that relevant - for example, as a US citizen earning in USD, when i go to India, the same dollar gets me a lot more - so PPP gives a much better indication of what the real purchasing power is for Indians. That is around the 8k USD mark which still puts India at around 125+ .. so long way to go but i do think we need to use data in the most relevant manner and definitely ensure questions anyone of us (even some of us as OCIs) have. Knowledge is power and all our decisions should be issue based. Noone is always right or always wrong .. so an issue based targeted and objective analysis is key. So i like the analysis but do think it will be good to look at every point in both ways - for and against.

Sir, since I know for sure that you have no axe to grind I will not hurl expletives at you as many will. Just a few points though. Maybe, if you said that the interview was "managed" rather than "bogus" you would have come across as polite and balanced rather than rude and impatient. The talk about inequality between upper castes and lower castes and Muslims you make much about has its roots in the fact that the lower castes and Muslims were very badly off when India became a free country. So one way to look at the data would be to see how much improvement has been achieved . Ditto with women. By the way the BJP has had female chief ministers . Vasundhara Raje in Rajasthan and Anandiben in Gujarat .Also the current President of India is a woman. Thank you for speaking out your mind . Not much of that around.
