ANCEL Automotive Battery Tester BA201 Review

This is a great tester to have! It's extremely easy to use, just clip it on, enter the information from the sticker right on your battery, and it goes right to work. Test completes in just seconds!
For a car battery for example, you can enter the CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) right from the sticker, and it will test your battery and show you what your battery can actually put out. The tester works with all different kinds of 12 volt batteries, including Marine, Flood, Gel, Absorbed Glass Mat, and Deep Cycle batteries.
Instructions are in plain English, very easy to understand, should you even need them. The LCD display on the tester is color and backlit, so really at a glance, you can get the condition of your battery!

I have the BA101 and just purchased the new BA201 but for some reason whenever I keep doing the charging system test I always keep getting no output results.

That's something to take up with the manufacturer. I should do the same, as I had similar results. In the meatime, check the charging voltage with a voltmeter, as long as you're reading in the 14 volt range, it's charging.

By charging your battery, you are not only saving money, but also avoiding sending a good enough battery out - that is a pollutant to the environment. If you do not own a battery charger, you can buy one. Yes, it costs money, but it will save you money long term, especially if your car is parked outside, or if you do not make long drives with your car.

Excellent point. Of course, charge the battery first, if possible. I own 3 or 4 chargers, and would most certainly try to charge them first before spending hard-earned money on a new battery,

@@jaykay18 glad to know you have that opportunity. Especially because batteries are quite expensive nowadays, but also because lead is very bad for the environment. Moreover, I am in favour of switching / swapping out parts that can leave you stranded. Thus, these battery testers are quite important - especially during these times of lockdown. But, in order for me to swap such item, I would like to know if I am really making the correct decision. By the way, I liked the video! Thank you for the effort.

what is the AH ratings range ?

It only lists the range in CCA, which is 100-2000 CCA. For anything else, contact the manufacturer.

Nah, I took it up to about 3 grand, that was it. Hearing that 6-cylinder pump out the back end is where it really matters!

There's hundreds of these things out there. Spin the wheel, pick a brand, then your battery dies anyway. I got like 4 or 5 of them now.

Just bought this. Battery voltage showing 12.01Volts. 100% SOH. 32CCA Over Rated capacity. Few year old battery. Going right in the garbage?

First thing you do when you don't trust what a meter reads, is to try another meter. Put a multimeter on the battery and see if it reads very similar voltage. If so, the original reading is probably safe to trust. Another thing is try it on another battery, also testing that battery with your multimeter. If all readings disagree, it's defective, and you can contact the manufacturer for a replacement.
