Just don't order direct from Ancel. It comes from China, and the hidden cost of import duty is not disclosed but hidden in the small print. How do I know! I just ordered one earlier in the week after a review and fell into the trap.

I guess it depends on which company ships it to you, no? I ordered a scan tool from tinkcar, you know, the one Jimmy showed not that long ago that has lifetime software update, they use DHL international and fast shipping. It took them 3 days total from China to Belgium shipping but I already knew that it had import duty, not by the company, but through DHL. They sended my a email right away saying you have to pay now or at the parcel pickup point that you choose. I payed up front on their website and it came like they told me. I already knew that there was import duty because the european commission stopped the old ruling they had that before something is 25 euros, you don't have to pay anything. So many Chinese companeis lied and stated that something was 25 euros while it clearly wasn't, just so the person buying it wouldn't have to pay. Or they used the tactic of sending it through a different european country that has probably cheaper import duty taxes, like France or Netherlands. This loophole was stopped by european commission so you have to pay taxes regardless. Weird how anybody doesn't have import duty as that is one of the easiest ways of taxing people. 😄

Really? Most stuff comes from China and I've never got important duty? Is it just ones that get randomly checked?

@@ORileysAutos I think the chinese use techniques to avoid import duty. Maybe by labeling them as clothing instead of tech or something along those lines. In EU everything gets checked by all member states, this is by law through european commision. I don't know how this works in UK, but this is how it works in EU. My previous comments dissapeared for some reason but in that comment I explained that there used to a limit up to 25 euros. When you reach this limit then you have to pay import duty. So Chinese companies lied and always stated that something is below this price just so nothing gets checked. They also used to let it come by cargo flight then through countries that don't check or have low import duty taxes like France or Netherlands. This is has been stopped by the commission. It could also be that the chinese do a special type of "sending" as if you are somebody important like a journalist or something so it doesn't need to be checked. Just a whild guess 😄

I’m in the same boat. Just off the phone to dhl, they told me ANCEL valued my item for under €100 so now I have to pay another €90 to cover the shipping fee
