I've found your videos really helpful to understand and look after the DPF. For me I just want to read the pressures, soot content, regen statuses, UREA and PAT levels, to work with it for longevity. It's a minefield trying to find a device that does this kind of simple stuff without the features a full garage would use on multiple vehicles. Thanks again for all you do, it is much appreciated, you seem to be quite unique in your logical progress to find a fault rather than swap all kinds of random stuff hoping to strike lucky like a lot of garages seem to.

I bought an Amazon Launch CRP129 product as it was a lot cheaper than the Launch UK equivalent. As Jimmy points out in this video, you get what you pay for! A lot of the functions that I wanted like injector coding “appeared” to be included in the Amazon product but when I went to use it, it was an optional payment to get it. Moral of the story, buy it from the UK website if you want a basic DIY tool that’ll do what you want. However this particular model is painfully slow!

We want to make it clear. Launch has many similar models, CRP123, CRP129 is the old version produced since 10 year ago. They only support update software via computer. 2018,Launch released upgrading version CRP123E,CRP129E, it add touch screen and support update software via internet. CRP129E is the same level of CRP129EV, Both lifetime free update. 2023, Launch released the new version CRP129E Plus, Because people want to read more system info instead of only engine, abs,srs, TCM, so CRP129E plus is a full system scanner. But it have not sell good because people complain about renew every year, 2024 Launch change the rules and set up CRP129E Plus lifetime free update.

Thanks for explaining this. I looked at the launch website before buying my Chinese Elite 2.0 model (without those manual buttons, in orange), and noted that it wasn't there, my comment would be that their website 'lacks information'. It does say 'watch out for fakes', which is great, but useless with no explanation. It's also very confusing seeing the various model numbers. The DIY market really perhaps wants what I want, Car specific, Free lifetime updates, for reliable occasionaly use, with the bidirectional and service items. Even finding the vehicle model coverage is tricky and you have to funt for it, their website needs a small child to explain to them how things should be explained :D

I wish I’d found your channel before I bought my Topdon artidiag lite 900. I’ve got a Fiat Ducato motorhome after buying the tool off eBay I found out I couldn’t reset the codes unless I bought a gateway bypass cable. When I did buy one it still doesn’t give me the functionality I expected. I then bought a years subscription with AutoAuth £38 only to find out I still don’t have the functionality that I thought I was getting. However I can reset the codes once I login through AutoAuth. I feel the scan tool industry is a nightmare. By the way your videos are fantastic.
@G-ra-ha-m

The SGW bypass thing is not really a scan tool issue, it's to make it awkward for someone to use the ODBC2 port to jack the car with.

@@G-ra-ha-m yeah I suppose it’s like another security feature but I suspect with the right tools someone will be able to get round it. The annoying thing is that not all scan tools are the same and for a diy consumer it’s difficult to know which is the best model to go for. I’d wished I’d researched it more thoroughly.

Yeah I bought the evo (UK one) based on your videos ages ago. It was a bit of a nightmare to be sure it was the right one, with so many similarly named models. Got it via Launch UK directly in the end. Have been happy with it so far and it has regular software updates. I think anyone with a modern diesel HAS to have some kind of decent scan tool these days, as has been proved time and again in your videos.

I wanted to buy mine from the UK store, but found their DIY scan tool section on the website bereft of information, and missing the £135 devices sold on eBay completely. If I could be sure of getting a multi-brand version of the £135 device I'd have got that from their website, but all I had was multiple ebay ads telling me lots of info, vs an information vacuum on their UK website... .. so it was a competition between £135 vs £6k for the EuroTab3, which is a bit of overkill for me as I'll only use it now and again on my diesel.

I don't think this video is quite fair to be honest. The Chinese one will do all those reset functions without paying (you had the Chinese one connected to the internet and the UK one wasn't so it just asked you to update before doing the DPF reset function) What the Chinese one allows you to do is add full manufacturer support on a per brand basis, so you get all the functionality of the UK one as standard but you can choose to pay in the mall to get active test functionality etc per brand which you cant on the UK one. You can also purchase additional reset functions in the mall which you cant do on the UK model so technically the Chinese market tool is more powerful but lacks the free lifetime updates.

It is confusing as I contacted lauch uk first who said they cant deal with support for the product. My £135 chinese Launch just does one brand for free, you have to pay for others (but it's probably easier to buy another one, for any other brand IMO). It has free updates for life, the sellers say, probably just for the one brand it comes with. I'm not sure why Launch UK doesn't sell it, or at least mention it. So many scan tools LOL, it's a jungle out there :D
@ukcitizen1158
@ukcitizen1158 12 күн бұрын
So, according to your logic, it's better to buy at £135 per car, and keep buying more at £135 for each of the others cars, rather than just spend £80 more and be able to do almost every car? I think you need to plug your Launch into yourself and carry out a full scan, clearly you aren't computing properly lol.
@G-ra-ha-m
@G-ra-ha-m 12 күн бұрын
@@ukcitizen1158 Well, each £135 box manages a group of cars, e.g: Peugeot + Citroen etc, and it goes to a deep, bidirectional level, resets a bunch of stuff, and can be left in the car as it's not expensive, and has lifetime free updates. The reason I suggest this is that I don't know how deep the Launch UK devices go, because on their website there's almost no information about them. So you might be correct, but I can't seem to find a 'features' list of all of the Launch devices on a 'Compare models' basis anywhere, so after reading the Launch UK website I was unconvinced it would do the job. IMO it's a 'failure to market the product' fault on their website.

If what you say that the Amazon products are for the Asian market then I cannot understand why they don't add SAIC MG as standard as that is a Chinese car.
