Coming here because I just found my biological father through ancestry dna. It wasn’t on purpose because I always was just curious of what I was mixed with and I was sure that the father i was told was my father, was my actual father. Even though I had feelings that he wasn’t my father because we don’t look alike forreal and it just wasn’t mathing up. But so then I got the ancestry kit for Christmas after asking for it for 2 and a half years and like 6 months later I get emails from ancestry talking about I had over 16 messages I haven’t opened and I wasn’t surprised cause I haven’t been on the app for months anyway but I click on it and there are messages from my father and he has been messaging me for a month. I am so blessed and thankful, I was going to end my life because of horrible depression I was going through and I was also losing my hope in happiness and blessings and I am a strong believer in god and a spiritual person. I am 15 years old and this is the happiest I’ve been. Couldn’t thank god more. He’s always there to save my life🥺🤞🏾

A first Cousin found me. He didn't know who his father was. As soon as he said his Mother's name, I told him, "Your father is my Uncle!" I remembered my Uncle dating his Mom. My Uncle had denied paternity, and his Mom went on to marry someone else.(This was in the 60's) Unfortunately, my Uncle had passed away but I put him in contact with other family members. We welcomed him with open arms!

I just found my bio dad one week ago. I'm 47 years old and he never knew about me..they want me to meet them this weekend..him and my new family have welcomed me with open arms. It's a nervous and exciting time for me

I'm so glad that you found your father and that he and others are accepting of who you are! I'm adopted and did an AncestryDNA test in 2019 and 23&Me in 2021 - unfortunately both my bio parents are dead but I did find two half-sisters, an aunt, and a whole bunch of cousins. I talk to one half-sister more (one wasn't actually told that she was adopted which yikes, so she's been pretty quiet) and my aunt's child (who is a bit older than me, in her 40's). Thankfully my bio-family seems pretty supportive of my not being straight (and my aunt's child is also not straight so that's awesome). I'm really happy for you. :) Also your dog is super adorable.

@@Riichkiidentertainment aw thanks. I've been able to find out a lot about my bio mum from her relatives. The thing that gets me is that my bio mum died because of a doctor's incompetence (he didn't do any tests and she died of a burst appendix. Super messed up) in 2018. On a happier note, it does sound like loving animals (dogs and cats especially) must run in the family! One of my half-sisters loves cats, I love cats (I actually just have fish at the moment), various cousins have either a dog or a cat (and of course adore them), and my bio mum had both dogs and cats at different times in her life. Hope you are doing well as can be expected with everything going on in the world. :)

Luv the results! Have you ever considered African Ancestry? they’re wayyy more specific with your African Ethnic group/Tribe & Exact country .African Ancestry kind of tops all these other companies out here
@mlungisiwright2 жыл бұрын
They give questionable results. Most of us don't understand how it works. So I'll explain. 46 chromosomes 23 from mom 23 from dad. If you are a male you have a Y chromosome. You got it from your dad he got it from his all the way back. Your Y DNA has "markers" called haplogroups. Each of which is a combo of letters and numbers. Your haplogroup whatever it is usually is not exclusive to just one population. For example so far I've seen Igbo, Bamileke, and Yoruba all with the same Y DNA haplogroup. Women don't have a Y chromosome. Men and women both have mitochondria which is the only other part of the genome AfricanAncestry tests, as with male only haplogroups you get letter number combinations. Men and women can find out their mitochondrial haplogroup. It passes mother to child, but usually men don't pass any of it down to their children.
@mlungisiwright2 жыл бұрын
As with the patriclan test you will usually have a number of tribes you match with. Sometimes yes they can be found in a single country amongst multiple tribes. So at least you have an idea of where that ancestor may have lived. Other times it's so widespread that pinning it down would be impossible.
@mlungisiwright2 жыл бұрын
Of course if they tell you you are X tribe and they embrace you cool
@jboss7292 жыл бұрын
I did African Ancestry too and to be honest it was not much more specific than ancestry dna. It reported the European and Arab blood in me too. It labeled pretty much the same countries for the African line.

@@mlungisiwright AFRICAN ANCESTRY IS NOT GOOD... I JUST RECIEVED MY ANCESTRY RESULTS JUST NOW.... AND IT SHOWS ME THAT MY MATERNAL DOESN'T HAVE SPAIN DNA... WHICH AFRICAN ANCESTRY SAID MY MOTHERS MATERNAL LINE STARTED THEIR... SO SOMETHING IS QUESTIONABLE... REGARDLESS IM 82% AFRICAN.... AFRICAN ANCESTRY IS SLOW AND SHOULD STOP FOCUSING ON ONLY TRIBES.... BECAUSE OF SLAVERY WAS INVOLVED.. IM SO HAPPY THAT I TRIED OUT ANCESTRY.... PROVE THAT AFRICAN ANCESTRY MAY NOT BE ACCURATE.

Yes I did AncestryDNA about two years ago and just now discovered my father through others. It was really a process, especially if your father hasn’t taken the test or that side comes from a big family. I had to go through different people and researching who they are connected through. I also took a 23&me test which I will upload and found others on there some people take ancestry and some 23&me you may be luckier with 23&me.
