For a goofy Will Ferrell comedy, Anchorman 2 actually had some interesting commentary on the state of news today being so preoccupied with sensationalism and pandering to its audience, instead truly informing the American public. That wasn't something that I was expecting. So on top of being funny and having a bunch of great cameos, this comedy had a great social message as well.

It was so bad. Anchorman is one of the best comedy movies ever. The problem with Anchorman 2 is they turned up the stupidity to 11. They took it too far, it just wasn't funny. I was very disappointed.

The laughs don't count apparently because it isn't 'structured' Get that movie makes, if your comedy makes people laugh (which is the point of the damned thing) but isn't structured like pre-existing movies you might as well pack it up and not bother... When the trailer for Airplane came out, I laughed at all the jokes. I have seen the trailer for Anchorman 2...I didn't laugh once!

After loving the first anchorman and watching it multiple times my bar for anchorman 2 was high. When I watched it it was bar none one of the most funniest movies I have ever seen in a long time. If you don't like anchorman 2 it's because you weren't a fan of the first.

I suspect that the problems related to the structural elements in this movie have a lot to do with influence from Will's Funny or Die success, and how doing that for so long and to such effect has impacted his eye for comedic storytelling.

I had same experience with Anchorman that Ben did. I just didn't get it, and didn't really like it the 1st time I saw it....but it got better and better every time!

Saw it yesterday and thought it was absolutely hilarious, I don't think I've laughed that hard in a movie theatre since Borat. They probably could have cut 20 minutes though and some of the bits fell flat, especially Brick's.

I vigorously enjoyed Anchorman 2,as silly as it was the movie had intelligence lying underneath the surface which as the critic said was a commentary on the ever changing news cycle going from the ''Broadcast Era to the 24 hour cable cycle which was all about quantity as opposed to quality. Even with Ben and Matt really liking it, I disagreed with all of them (Though I agreed most with Ben). While there was about 10-20 minutes that could have been cut, I thought as a whole, this movie was better than the first. I found it funnier, and to be a better story than the first. I sat through this and was consistently and audibly laughing, whereas when I watch the first movie I smile through out the movie and only audibly laugh at a handful of scenes. The first one is more quotable out of context, thus will probably have the longer pop-culture life, but this one (in my opinion) was all about situational and in context comedy which came out funnier than the first movie.

I don't think 8 is "best of all time" territory at all. 8, to me, is "great", I usually rank movies out of 5, with 5 being as perfect as anything can get 4.5 being amazing 4 being great 3.5 being really good 3 being good 2.5 being OK so to rank out of 10 multiply that by 2 and you see where I'm getting at. By no means am I saying 7 and 7.2 is bad, I'm just saying I even disagreed with that and thought it was a little low.

This movie is not for everybody, I really liked it but understand why some people don't. But why does every movie have to adhere to a strict structure, this is slap stick comedy not f'ing Hamlet. I love a good drama and even like a good artsy movie when I'm in the mood but this is low brow high octane comedy the only way Will Ferrell knows how to do it (well)!!!! If you didn't like the last joke who cares here comes 7 more it's rapid fire spray and pray! Just lighten up and see if that helps, still not laughing well then this isn't for you. Just don't tell me you laughed but it's bad because there was no structure gosh darn it!

I felt like I was watching hangover 3. There where parts I wanted to laugh but it felt forced like a chuckle. You know like when a friend tells a bad joke.
