This should be in the curriculum in African countries that cut young girls hair for school instead of styling it traditionally to last a couple of weeks at a time If they did this girls develop high esteem in their natural hair and leave school with good lengths and healthy hair which they can style so many ways instead of going straight into wearing weaves

I stop wearing extentions and now I just have it natural or in braids without additional hair. I'm proud of it. I grew up with the mindset that many african people have bad hair. That perception came from slavery. However, those with wavy, straight, or curly hair has supposedly "good hair" which I can't stand this term. we all need to enjoy our hair and take pride in it.

I wish I'd had those three tips when I was a lot younger. My hair journey did start with advice from my aunties, but then I got sucked into a cycle of buying new products. Every article, every video, it's all try this new product or that new product. Simplifying my haircare routine and being patient changed how I felt when it came to listening to my hair. I thought I was, but at the time I was using it as an excuse to try a new oil or product or tool. I mean it was positive enthusiasm but in the wrong direction. There were plenty of days where I loved my hair, but too many days when I felt the need to find something to fix it. These days I love my hair everyday and focus on keeping it healthy.

Be gentle and keep hair moisturized! Sun dries our hair out and can cause breakage. If u have chemicals on it, u really need more moisture. A lot of the people's hair in the audience looked super dry and neglected.

How about your stop judging black women for how they choose to live their own life? Maybe focus less on insults followed up with "blessings" and try for respect and humility. There are plenty of black women who respect their natural hair and still use weaves and wigs. Great protective styles for natural hair come in all shapes and sizes. Also, we don't need random internet comments to make our decisions for us. It's not helpful and definitely doesn't achieve what you think it does.

@@cupguin you sound hurt 🤣 the truth hurts huh. The same black woken who are the most judgemental are upset when you give them a dose of their own medicine. Your weaves and wigs are wack. Shout out to the real black women with wearing their natural hair shirt or long. 😁

@@funmbi4life where did I say I wear either? My hair is currently completely natural and is a gorgeous Afro, something I love. I have my own protective styles that I use because of who I am and what my life is. There is no universe where I would ever tell any of my sisters how they should care for their hair because I respect them and their ability to make their own decisions. How is that confusing for you? Someone asks me for an opinion or for advice I would give it, I'm not attacking random women because I think I'm better than them and know their lives better than they do. If you can't understand that, if you can't understand that women don't need your condescension to make their own choices, that's all on you
