These Ancient Egypt dynasties videos are amazing. The slow pace of explanation helps to understand the "LONG" history of Egypt. It would be nice also to see when did technological innovations appear, like iron weapons and war chariots, and when populations did change, as in the hyksos invasions and other nubian and semitic influences.

Its been said that the Egyptians had blueprints of what looked like a locomotive that never went into production. Its amazing to find that our ancestors were smarter than we take them for. To think if they actually achieved this, the world would be much further in technology than we are today. At least 100 years its been estimated.

Doing the math based on your average uploading of each dynasty; Dynasty XXX will be uploaded sometime between December 2024 & March of 2025 Taking into consideration the distance of time you upload being stretched further or shortened. Quite the journey you have and perhaps a couple new discoveries may be made about previous dynasties to give updated info. Appreciate the work, and will be here until the finale. 👍

The next video will probably speed things up covering dynasties 7-10 since those are of the First Intermediate Period (technically part of 11 is also within the FIP but it'll have a video of it's own). @@HistorywithCy I do agree that this is A LOT of history to cover. But I wouldn't rush. Take your time. When things get rushed it can take away the time to double check for mistakes. Honestly patience is a virtue. One of my favorite films Synecdoche, New York gave me perspective to appreciate the time I have and be aware that time does fly. 2025 is technically tomorrow. Appreciate the response by the way. Glad to give feedback and be heard. I'm learning a lot and since 2020 I've taken more time to brush up on history and Egypt has so much mystery to it which is why this is one of my favorite historical series on KZbin. Thank you for another video. Glad we're back to Egypt. Seems the smaller pyramids were the result of the growing power of the nomarchs. Although none of these written records give us any information about the great pyramids or the Sphinx The reign of Pepi II may only be outdone by Elizabeth II !

This info about the Pyramids of Egypt and the Sphinx is because anytime any locals were ever asked during the ancient times about them, they all said the same thing or similar: that the Pyramids and the Sphinx was there before they were. In fact, its been said that the Sphinx and the Pyramids have been dug up from the sands a few times over the course of the thousands of years that the Kingdoms of Egypt reigned. It makes you wonder who built them. Its been said that the smaller pyramids were built by Egyptians, based their pyramids on the wonderful sight of the Great Pyramids and it took them several tries before they got it right. This info was found in manuscripts written by scribes in many of the tombs as well as hieroglyphics found on the structures around the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx.

We know of Mastabas that came before the pyramids and Djosers pyramid in Saqqara is older than "the great pyramids"... Humans built the pyramids and the thought that the most meticulate pyramids came first and inspired later inferior copies is a fallacy

I don't think the argument that Pepi II must have reigned for 64 years since 94 is impossibly long is valid unless there is some kind of actual evidence for it. Someone living to 100 year old at the time is extremely useful but not impossible, and if someone had the best medicare and help at the time it was the Pharaoh. The dude who was the Dodge of Venedig during the 4th crusade lived to 98 years old and the healthcare at the time was even worse, and so was the chance of dying of disease. Assuming the chroniclers must have written something wrong seems a bit unfair, unless there is some actual evidence for it, like dates saying another Pharaoh was ruling during the years Pepi still should be in charge. Pepi's advanced age would also explain why he was totally useless the last 25 years of his rule, he was likely in really bad shape due to how old he was. Living to 100 years old is one thing, it is another to be active and clear headed at that age. Anyways, thanks for another interesting episode. :)

Thank you for this video, I have always wondered about the Old Kingdom of Egypt, especially how and why it ended, because the fact they can build the pyramid only means at the peak of its power it must have been very powerful and highly organized. And its funny that the way it ended is very similar to many subsequent civilization that came ofter, too much success and too much prosperity, result in decay in central power which give rise to regional power, decentralization happen and the king/emperor losses control and result in all out brawl between local powers and plunge the while kingdom/empire in chaos until the next ruler came to unify it. This is a repeated theme in Chinese history, Roman empire, polish lithuanian commonwealth the many Arab empires and will probably going to happen to US in the near future.

Depends on which archeological chronology you're using. Naram-Sin most likely had Egypt under his empire as a vassal state during that intermediate period, since every other intermediate periods they were ruled by outsiders, and Naram-Sin did conquer the known world, no way he would've left a place like Egypt alone.

Yes, depending on the chronology you follow it is possible because there is evidence of massive drought in Mesopotamia around the same time as the reign of Pepi II, which could have led to a societal breakdown of the Akkadian state as well. Thanks for watching, really appreciate it!

Could be because evidence seems to indicate that there was also a drought in Mesopotamia roughly around the same time which may have contributed to the fall of the Akkadian Empire. I'm not sure what was going on in other parts of the world at that time but it might have all resulted from the same phenomena. Great question and thanks for watching!

I always enjoy your videos, and hope you view this as good natured debate-- I don't agree with Pepi the 2nd's upbringing being an excuse for poor leadership for a simple reason; Louis XIV had almost precisely the same life, and yet was one of the most effective rulers in French history.

Yeah, and to be honest, we really don't know... I think that's the impression many have of him because later chroniclers and historians look back at the rise and progression of Egyptian civilization during the Old Kingdom period, and then it's demise under Pepi II. They probably needed to find some moral truth in it had to blame someone or something so might as well be the king. Hi! Oh that comes from page 99 of Marc Van de Mieroop's book "A History of Ancient Egypt" where he writes "Amenemhat I, whose family seems to have been politically unimportant before and whose mother came from Nubia..." I had also read somewhere else that a text says she came from Ta-Sety (land of the bow) which was what the old Egyptian name for Nubia. Hope this helps!

For the last unofficial ruler of the 6th dynasty. It could maybe possible to be a intersex person or a female that 'masculinesiced' her name. In the end it's so long ago and only a very few sources or records exist. It's a miracle we can cover most of Hatshepsuts reign, after her successors tried to cover up her reign and claiming most of her achievements for themselves.

Yeah, I had the same thoughts. After all, even ancient Greeks recorded the existence of inter and transsexual people, and tho records of them worldwide were usually gotten rid of as an "anomaly", I believe the preserved instances to be historical proofs of early traces of LGBTQ+.
