In Europe, during wintertime, when they were out of food, Neanderthal's bodyclocks were putting them in a depression mode so they can survive without eating for a long period of time. And this is why there is a depression syndrom now among caucasian people, and medecine got it all wrong on how to treat depression efficiently. This is also why people tend to get more bodyfat around their belly, it's a survival mode in case they run out of food (and it works for a few weeks/months).

Not like Caucasians and Asians. Africans lived for ever in a luxuriant and abundant vegetation, so they did not develop this type of depression.
@stevenrix7277
@stevenrix7277 7 жыл бұрын
There is a depression gene that has not been discovered yet, i've been talking about that for 10 years now. Black people mainly don't suffer from depression because their skin won't absorb vitamin D from the sun (melanin with MCH). Depression is a large word, and the word has been misused in the medical context to extract money from people. It is better for them to cover patient with a bandaid than taking care of the real issues. I don't think I am wrong in my observations. You can also ask black people if they are affected by depression, it does not come from the cultural background how their deal with it, it comes from our DNA. I have also started capturing some data about this issue on the european and american population, but my work has not been done yet.

Jim Dot Beep good point like wolves and dogs .can a zebra breed with a horse ? a tiger can breed with a lion .I think .lots of mixed race humans around ..or are they ? they perhaps aren't mixed race as they must be the same race ..so denisovens .Neanderthals .and whoever they had children with must have been the same race ..maybe different breeds ..like horses and dogs. I'm not a scientist ..but it seems logical..so an Eskimo meets a ginger nut at uni .and bobs your uncle .fannys your aunt .they have a little human ..

Generally speaking if we possess both neanderthal and sapiens genes, you cannot say OUR ancestors came and mixed with THEM. Since they both were our ancestors, same would be true to: Our ancestors were living in Europe when 30.000 years ago Homo Sapiens came and outnumbered US and mixed their genes with ours. Since both species mixed, both are OUR ancestors.

Dawid Blachowski To an extent you are correct. But all humans do not carry the Neanderthal gene. Some people in Africa do not carry even a trace amount of Neanderthal. They are 100 percent Homo Sapiens. Because they never traveled up north. Other groups like the Aboriginals of Australia went south. So, off the top of my head, for a long time they had no Neanderthal in them either. Those people eventually populated New Zealand and Polynesia. They became the Pacific Islanders/Polynesians.

It's simpler. The only people on this planet who have 100% human dna are black africans who have never mixed with another race. Literally everyone else has neanderthal DNA because ancient humans (black africans) had sex with Neanderthals. But there are still some africans who have no neanderthal dna because there's no mixing in their lineage.

Nothing but race and "ewww we mated with that?" comments Well we sure as hell did something right. No one gives a shit about animals doing it. The reason why we have the species we have today is cos animals got freaky with other animals. Including ones that were slightly different in genetics. If they can still pop out fertile and viable babies, then there really isn't anything to complain about. In other words, thanks ancestors for being the freaky shits you were. Dangerous_stranger Neanderthals are separate species; moreover, modern humans are hybrids of Denisovan’s and Neanderthals. Homo-Sapiens offspring did not carry Neanderthal fertile male chromosomes, which essentially didn’t continue the lineage of those species. American Journal of Human Genetics has an amazing article about how they may have went extinct.

White people don't have a hard time breeding you idiot. They just don't, because in modern times you don't want 7 kids. Back then you had 7 kids because 3-4 would die in childhood. Now with modern life, the average is 1-2 kids and that's why there's a population decrease. It will stabilize eventually.

@bulbasaur1232
@bulbasaur1232 7 жыл бұрын
Guillermo Junior Barcenas Mexicans along with other Latin Americans are mostly mixtures of Caucasoids (Europeans) and Mongoloids (native Americans). Of course you have some Latinos who are majority Caucasian such as argentinians, or majority Negroid such as the Dominican Republic. But Mexicans, Colombians, Venezuelans, Puerto Rican's etc have a decent amount of European and Native American DNA. Obviously there's some that have higher percentages of euro and others have higher percentages of Native blood etc. So you most likely do have Neanderthal genes.

I do object to one thing, in this. The, even if not intended, but due to the way presented, that Neanderthals, were not, humans. If we mated with them, had viable offspring, they were human. To say they are not is to make the same false claim that there are multiple races on the face of this planet. Such as the commonly used term to define whites as one race, and blacks as another. There is only one race of humans. The human race, and Neanderthals. regardless of unique DNA characteristics, are part of it.

Sparkle Sprinkler they didnt look like modern humans. Explain Africans. Who are natuallly slender and tall with no neanderthal dna. Plus, all you have to do is look at the fossils. Scientists are able to predict how Neanderthals looked based on bones. The reason why modern Europeans look the way they look is mainly because of Homo sapien DNA. Europeans just get their white skin, straight hair and few other traits from their neanderthal ancestors. Homo sapiens live in warmer climates. Life was alot easier, so we grew taller.

IDK why people get so weirded out by this. They want to view our ancestors living 50k years ago through today's lens and it doesn't work. Neanderthals didn't look like gorillas running amok. Early humans would have viewed them as just more humans, albeit with noticeable physical differences. Not to mention we see similar extremes today. Compare some of the Australian aboriginals to say, Japanese people. Amusingly, the same people who would scream "RACISM" at the suggestion Abos and Japanese should never hook up are also freaking out at the idea that their ancestor 60,000 years ago might have shagged a Neanderthal after a meal of tasty grubs and roasted yams.

Not everybody has Neanderthal DNA, and as soon as someone finds a positive trait that is more likely due to Neanderthal DNA, they will discriminate more against people who don't have it or have less of it.

Then work to stop irrational people from dominating in your society. "Neanderthal admixture" is a clumsy, clunky generalization describing a whole lot of genes whose role is not yet understood. When they are understood we will know which individual genes do what, which are advantageous and which are disadvantageous, and we can mix and match them as we please to improve ourselves. In the meanwhile all this identity politics is a lot of screaming and hollering about nothing of importance by people who do nothing of importance and know very little.

Q-bert505 Not really "in between"- those of us who lived in Eurasia around 40,000 years ago would have had dark skin, dark eyes, dark hair, and features more similar to Native Australians than to any other group of modern humans. I'd hardly call native aussies "in between white and black". Plus, consider that these people were the same "race" as east, south, and West Asians of the time, so unless you think the ancient Chinese were "in between white and black", you might wanna rethink your logic. "Race" isn't a spectrum from white to black, it's more like a series of checkboxes based on individual features and ancestry; even if someone is neither white nor black, that doesn't make them "in between".

I know some people are going to be upset about this comment. I really am not trying to offend anyone...but..in 2010, the first draft of the Neanderthal genome was completed and it was discovered that all non-African humans had Neanderthal DNA. Scientists comparing the full genomes of Humans and Neanderthals concluded that most Europeans and Asians have approximately 2 percent Neanderthal DNA. It was stated that the proportion of Neanderthal-inherited genetic material is about 1 to 4 percent and is found in all non-African populations. It is suggested that 20 percent of Neanderthal DNA survived and is currently present in all non-african humans on the planet and can be seen in the skin, hair, diseases and the reduced reproductive fitness of modern people (Europeans and Asians). Scientist know that Neanderthals were very highly inbred and carried an extremely large amount of dangerous mutations. Could the reason the corona virus is more fatal to Europeans and Asians be due to the fact that Europeans and Asians share 99.7% of their DNA with Neanderthals. In 2016, Ivan Juric stated the following in his article entitled The Strength of Selection against Neanderthal Introgression: Neanderthal genes are recessive and weakly selected against, this means they are slowly being purged from the human genome. Is this why the whole world has been shut down to contain this virus? This didn't happen with any other virus. Not H1N1, Ebola, SARS, MERS no other virus!!!! I was wondering why the whole earth got shut down. Could we be seeing the extinction of Europeans and Asians? Is this what's going on?

While I doubt there is a direct correlation here, I actually have a condition that is basically the result of a my skull being too small - but more in the occipital lobe. The condition is called a Chiari Malformation and the incidence of diagnosis is increasing significantly with the invention and increased use of MRI. For patients like me it's an important discovery and if it could be linked to something like this, it could be the first step towards a cure! As it is Chiari patients live with our brains being squashed down into our spinal canals because our brains are larger than our skulls... Ouch. The only help available is surgery to remove part of our skull to relieve some pressure but it's definitely not a cure. Anyways I just wanted to say feelings aside, this type of research gives me hope there may be a cure some day!

Das Sir Yes there are tons of neurological symptoms including paralysis, numbness and tingling of your limbs, severe headaches that are way worse than migraines, suddenly losing control of your lower body in a variety of forms including just randomly falling down, and many many more symptoms. Because there is crowding of the brain stem there is also problems with heartbeat regulation breathing and other things that people's bodies generally do automatically.

Thank you, Joy, for talking about this. I love learning new things and your post caught my attention. Even though I have heard of Chiari Malformation before, I haven't looked into it. As someone with ASD who is obsessed with the topic, this captures my imagination. Brain formation is unusual in ASD and though most of us just have bigger heads, maybe some people's skulls don't match their unusual brain growth. I'm interested in Neanderthals because of the patterns I see in human behavior and traditional societal values among those with higher Neanderthal DNA percentages. I'm sorry to hear about the things you have to deal with. I can only imagine how scary and exhausting it's been. Getting the public interested makes a huge difference in whether health issues are taken seriously in research, so your outreach is very helpful. :D

I'm sorry to hear of your condition, which I had no idea existed. And don't worry that there isn't a cure yet. As far as I know, the brain is incredibly adaptive (neuroplasticity) and should be able to cope with the condition, to some extent. Although, don't brains tend to shrink with age? I think that might help a little too. The only cure that I can think of is editing the genome via CRISPR.

I feel wonderfully enriched by my ancient 3% Neanderthal heritage. Yes: they were magnificent tool-makers...and the reason that the genes for "mental illnesses" persist is that they are associated with higher creativity and more divergent problem-solving. I've heard tell that Neanderthal genes are implicated in our linguistic proficiency: the development of our language. What else is to love? Their aesthetic appreciation and beautiful red hair. But here's the bothersome bit. We know from the way that they tended for their injured and disabled that Neanderthal standards of compassion were vastly higher than the current policitical regimes of both the USA and Great Britain. I wish we had them back in our world today (and by the way: the breeding is possible). So let's be a bit less picky about diabetes and allergies and "ape-men", eh?

Mohammed no the main theory is that they were outnumbeered by homo sapians sapiens, and the mixing between neanderthal and sapiens. They have calculated that only 1% of mixing every generation , over thousands of years, could lead to the extinction of the pure neanderthals, without any fights. In addition neanderthal being in little numbers had some bad genes not scraped by the natural selection, meaning lower fertility. They were adapted to the hard conditions of the europe, they were physicaly strongs, but their demography was their weakness compared to the young homo sapieans.

The idea of 100% human is really quite nonsensical. You need to understand that all genotypes are a mix. Neanderthals and homo sapiens themselves share a recent common ancestor, and if you transported Shanghai to another planet and isolated their population for 100.000 years you might expect them to change enough on average that you might want to label them as a 'new species'. The categorical labels are not significant. As we know, we are also very similar to chimpanzees genetically. The significant question is what do each of these genes actually do. What are they responsible for. When we know that we will have genetic engineering and all the ridiculous "race politics" will be completely irrelevant and obsolete. We can take whatever is best from all of the genomes and leave whatever is harmful.

Actually you'll find that Neaderthals were blondish due to the colder areas they inhabited, Homo Sapiens darker complexions.

If i can relate neanderthals meeting humans with the epic of Ramayana which dates back thousands of years ago, we have, in this story, a whole army of Vanaras( that means jungle men), and the leader of that army was Hanuman, who was the son of a human mother and Vanara Father. His father was the king of a state. It's clearly mentioned in that epic. Hanuman was the devotee and the helper of Lord Rama. We have Hanuman's temples and statue dating back thousands of year in India. If u think I'm just bluffing than i recommend u to please go and search for his name on Google. Every single family in India have his photos and statues. Although Ramayana is a recent happening but i just want to highlight if there is a single possibility that they were alive till that time or maybe even Ramayana is much older than we think. There is not any making up here. I have been taught about Him from my childhood and i knew too that his mother was a human and Father a Vanara. When i grew up, and as the western education took over me, i thought that whatever i learnt doesn't make any sense, but after watching this video, i think there is a possibility that what i was told was true. Please tell ur views about this. One more thing, Hanuman was a man of great wisdom and knowledge
