There's a novelization of the film. It explains in a chapter (from Jason's POV) that he had woken up ashore some distance from the camp, he was able to survive on his own because he was skilled in hunting abd fishing (apparently). He made his way back to the camp, but everything was shut down and everyone was gone. His first attempts to make a campfire caused the fire that burned down the camp mentioned in the first film. He attempted to approach his mother the following year (1958), but was afraid to when she commited her first murders so he stayed hidden. Also, he witnessed his mother's decapitation which eventually drove him to start his own killing spree.

Adrienne King (Alice) was originally gonna have a bigger role in this movie, but she only asked for her role to be small and that she would be killed in the movie because at the time Adrienne had a disturbed stalker after her and the whole experience actually made her quit acting and she didn't make a comeback until somewhere in 2010's. Ah ok, flat cap. I heard it was paddy cap, but flat cap, ok.

Then that leaves open WHY? If he cared about his mother enough to be upset enough to go on a killing spree, and knew she was killed, thus knew she was out there, near, why was he hiding from her all that time? Kid almost drowns, and decides to live in the woods, doesn't really make sense. The revenant idea at least meshes with everything that happened and happens.

@@Logan_Baron It's a horror movie from the 80's that came out less than a year after the 1st one. I don't think they thought it through that much. They don't even make him undead until part 6. I'm 100% with you that it doesn't make sense when you actually sit back and think about it but if you do that with any classic slasher series you'll probably find a ton of things that don't make sense. Even in this film, how did Jason find where Alice lived? And why did he wait 5 years to start killing more people? Most questions don't have any real answers unless the creators actually come out and answer them.

@@loudboy317 I actually wish they'd go a bit into the idea that maybe Jason stayed away *deliberately*. Even though he loved his mother, even he recognized that she was somewhat insane (and overbearing) at that young age. Hell, maybe he partly blamed her for not protecting him. Based on the comics, we know Mr. Voorhees was abusive. But maybe despite being close to her, he also realized, "There's something wrong with my mom, too." On the other hand, maybe Pamela knew he was out in the woods, and she blamed the counselors for killing the 'innocent little boy' she knew, not actually killing him completely. He became so traumatized (and violent, possibly) that he could no longer function in normal society. I don't like the idea that Jason was born evil and was influencing Pamela, that some people have thrown around. I prefer the notion that he became evil because of all the anger he accumulated, and by killing so many people. He developed a taste for it, and there was no turning back.

@Tasha Tipton ah, the first 8 have a different license owner and are usually sold together like that. The series takes a little bit to fully warm up and dips after peaking at 6 (imo) but what's great about F13th is that each entry has something cool or memorable to it that makes it stand out, whether its specific kills, or Jason's design, or the setting. They all have things to appreciate that keeps it from being too repetitive

Part 3 will give you a kill similar to one you want. It will show you the hockey mask and I won't tell you how. Part 3 is one of the most popular of the franchise for fans. Part 4 is a good one, too and gives us a young Cory Feldman. Part 5 is not well liked, but I think it's ok. 6 is very good with an actual story. 7 is very popular and is the first time we see Kane Hodder play Jason. Kane has played Jason four times and is beloved by most fans because he gave Jason personality and since he was a stuntman we have very creative kills over the next four movies. Part 8 is not popular, but I wont say why for now. Jason goes to hell is very popular and is the movie to set up Freddy vs Jason. I hope you guys watch the Nightmare series before Freddy vs Jason. I truly can't wait to see Tasha's reaction to the original Nightmare. Hopefully, Emma can join you for that as well. If you've never saw it before, it really messes with your mind. You never know if it's real or a dream. Jason X, or Jason in space gets a lot of criticism, but, it does have a story, the characters are smart and it is typical of a space horror of that time. It's like Alien but Jason is the alien.

Reason why they never run away before they die is probably because of the Run Or Flight or Freeze situation they're put in, the human brain when new to these sort of situations does this crap because of how safe it's been from threats, but they that's the point for horror movies :)

The original Friday The 13th is the best one in my opinion. You had to see it as a kid in the early 80s to understand. We weren't attention deficit and needed constant action. It was a slow burn murder mystery that was a set up for the crazy second half and as setup for the awesome kills. Kids weren't exposed to violent video games or movies and desensitized because adults sheilded us from that stuff mostly and there no internet to be exposed to such things. We only had like Fangoria horror magazine. Most of us only saw these movies on the low when they would premiere on our local TV station late at night on a Fri or Saturday after the adults went to bed. It just hit different and stuff like this was brand new and blew out young innocent minds. It was truly terrifying back then. As adults people start being more cynical and judgemental about movies. As a kid and teen back then you just went with it and had fun being scared & allowed yourself to be scared instead of finding every reason to not be. I miss the the way people watched movies in the 70s 80s 90s. So much more fun. BTW the first movie was supposed to only be one film. Only after the unexpected success of the first film and the popularity of the iconic jump scare, they had to find a way to have Jason as the killer. He actually never died just hid from everyone and his mom. But when he saw his mom beheaded, he went bezerk and seek revenge. Y'all talk way too much also. How can you even enjoy a horror movie trying to turn it into your personal comedy routines..ugh god. I think y'all should stop doing slasher reactions if you gonna judge & nitpick and make fun of every lil thing.

@33:23 A "Columbia House" reference: I'm old enough to remember those, too, LOL. I had to look up the timeline of this series recently when I went back to re-watch it after so many years. In short, Jason was supposedly 11 years old in 1957 when he was at camp, but apparently did not drown, as his mother thought (hence everyone in part 1 saying the body was never found), which would have made him in his early 30's when he saw her beheaded. The obvious plot hole of how an impaired, hydro-cephalic boy survived on his own has been assumed by fans, but I don't think it was ever explained in the series (and it's not really that kind of series, 😄 ). Regarding truly scary movies, my go to (and the movie I watch every Halloween) is John Carpenter's The Thing, but it appears you've already reviewed that in another video, so I'll have to check that out next. Yes, you have to watch Part 3. I’d argue that you have to watch Parts 4 & 5 as well. The rest are whatever. From Part 6 on it is pure Comedy. I mean, depends on what Tasha is afraid of 🤷🏻‍♀️ Maybe The Brood (1979); Shivers (1975); Suspiria (2018); A Cure For Wellness (2016); Carnival Of Souls (1962); Night Of The Living Dead (1968); Peeping Tom (1960); Hills Have Eyes (2006); Deranged (1974); The Wicker Man (1973); Under The Shadow (2016); House Of 1,000 Corpses (2003); Lords of Salem (2012.)

Also it really helps checking the Nightmare on Elm street movies with Freddy Krueger before Friday the 13th Part 9 Jason Goes to Hell because it sets up Freddy vs Jason.

I noticed in your video lists that you didn't have "The Devil's Advocate" 1997 reviewed. It has some twisted stuff in it with Keanu Reeves.

Feeders 2 spends about 1/3 of the movie recapping the previous movie but it's not right at the beginning, it's like in the middle.

34:10, suggestions for scary movies: Sinister (with Ethan Hawke), White Noise ( with Michael Keaton). I think you would enjoy the TV series American Horror Story. I was going to mention a few others, but you have already watched them. I'll be watching those reactions as well🙂

Sean Cunningham said it himself that there was never supposed to be a Friday franchise and that the Jason sequence was in fact and dream that was influenced by the story that Pamela Vorehees told Alice about losing her son

I would love to do a reaction video with Elizabeth when it comes to horror films, she's pure gold! Hope you watch all the Friday The 13th films. Kane Hodder is best at playing Jason and comes into in part 8 Jason Takes Manhattan and is the only person to play Jason more than once, he did it four times. Having a background in stunt work helped make him so good in the role and he had the word kill tattooed on the inside of his lip as a tribute to playing Jason

Elizabeth dosen't like slashers? What about Freddy? Slashers are not bad until the gore goes overboard with too much blood or sadistic themes like Hellraiser. A good slasher is similar to a superhero film with the exception the antagonist is the main character. Then, if we're lucky, the story will be creative and smart, too i.e. Scream or I Know What You Did Last Summer.

I guess I should quantify what I mean lol. I love Freddy! I just don’t like torture p**n! Killing just for the sake of killing. I want a good plot line, a back story, etc. not just blood blood blood! 😁

@jssonstillwell3243 2 жыл бұрын
@@elizabethnelson673 I agree. That's why I'll never watch things like Hellraiser, Texas Chainsaw Massacre or Saw. Horror is supposed to make you jump or scream and then laugh. They're supposed to be fun like stories around the campfire. Torture and excess blood are not acceptable.

@@elizabethnelson673 a good scary movie that isn't a slasher is, Halloween III: Season Of The Witch. This Halloween movie has nothing to do with Michael Myers, which is why a lot of people hate it. But, for those who can get beyond that, it really is an entertaining movie.

If you want a scary movie that are not a slashers try The Bad Seed, but make sure it's the original from 1956. Another one that is maybe more on the suspense side is Wait Until Dark staring Audrey Hepburn, Richard Crenna and Alan Arkin. Then check out, The Omen, again, make sure it's the original with Gregory Peck. The Omen 2 is good. Part three is fine but the ending was lame. Rosemary's Baby is a must. Steven Spielberg's first feature film called Duel is very good. It came out in 1971. I'll post more when I think of them. A lot of old suspense and film noir can be slightly scary or suspenseful.
