I found that the instruction for use of Paraffin wax is weak. Not only doesn't it tell you where to use the Paraffin in the video, it's also not mentioned in the instructions sent with the sash. I learned the hard way. I ordered a new Jamb liner and damaged it when trying to install it because the fit was so tight. Luckily the original Jamb liner wasn't damaged when I removed it. When I tried to re-install the original jamb liner I put Paraffin wax on the back side of the Jamb liner and the inside where the track is. This did the trick and it slid up into place with ease. Hope this helps.

This video was very helpful and my replacement went smoothly, just as shown. Couple of tips not in the video: 1. Make sure to clean and spray your tracks with some kind of lubricant, I used silicon, which helped both sash to slide easily 2. The balance pins on the sash cords have a slot at the top for the cord, use this slot or your sash will bind. 3. There was no mortise for the lower sash window latch. I used a 1/2" forstner bit and chisel to make the required slot 4. Use a Phillips screwdriver instead of a cordless drill, you have much more control and will not strip out the heads

Forget that hassle. Much easier to get the modern replacement that doesn't require the route, It's an exact replacement. They are $9.99ea at Home Depot, which is a ripoff from your good buddies at Anderson. Cost me $80 for the 8 sash's I had to replace. Wasn't happy about that, but the time I saved was worth it.

I'm a 42 year old mom and I was able to do this following this video. Coconut oil works on the jam liners too. 😘

this video was excellent. I would never have figured out how to remove/replace the sash. The only difficult task was to reinstall the liner with the window in place, had to push it up at least a foot. I wish I had read some of the suggestions below for lubricating which likely would have made it easier

Replaced my broken window sash using this video. Very informative. Followed the instruction, all went as planned. The most difficult part is removing and reinstalling the plastic track. I rubbed the track with waxed paper. It seemed to help. Thanks for the video.

Was more difficult to do than it looked here. Was very difficult to slide out the lower half of the track. Worked it back and forth while holding it to the jamb and also pulling down was tricky. Thought I would beak it. But the hardest thing was putting the new bottom sash back in without those small plastic clips shown that ride between the track and the sash. Without them, trying to raise the sash once in, and before the lower track panel is reinstalled, caused the weather strip to slide out of it's groove on the left side. I got the track panel back in, got the sash raised, and from under the sash I put some glue onto the weather strip and pushed it back up into the track on the side of the sash. That held it in. And silicone spray on the tracks is your best friend. New sash replacing the broken window looks great! Could have really used those little plastic clips as shown in this video. Would have saved a lot of time and hassle.

The video makes it look real easy. I previously replaced a bathroom window which had similar size sashes (upper and lower). But it wasnt so great for my cottage style window which has a very large lower sash and side jam liner. After destroying three liners I was able to get one in by spraying silicone underneath the jam liner, side of sash and outside of the liner. Also work the jamb liner from outside the window. I also removed the upper window stop to get 1.5 inches of clearance to get side jam in.

I replaced sash cords and vinyl trim around window. Upper and lower sash were very tight fit and now they don't operate smoothly. Any idea what would cause this and what is the best fix? I tried silicone spray and that didn't help much. I had a very tough time getting jam liner back in!

I have two Narrolines that this video doesn’t cover, the jamb liner extends about 17-1/2” into the lower/upper sashes, not the maybe 6” shown in the video example. Disappointing that Andersen doesn’t mention this in the video because I’m guessing it’s not that uncommon.

Is kind of a bummer to get to final step of putting lock on only to find you need to cut notch out or buy the new lock assembly from HD as suggested. My strings were frayed terribly and one broke during installation. We don’t open windows much and they slide ok regardless.

Had a nasty time replacing the liner, the step shown at 6:15, this video was no help. They briefly mention parrafin wax - I ended up wiping Armour-All on the plastic which was a big help, even though the 30 yr old liner cracked when I reinstalled it. Not a truly service-able design. I expected more from Anderson.

Now the're peddling "Renewal by Anderson," what a joke. I have all Anderson windows in my house and these jokesters asked me if I wanted new windows? I told them to take a hike.

@@overspray6057 I don't understand why someone would want to get "renewal" windows when you can just replace the old sashes yourself with videos like this. Replacement windows reduce your net window area because they're smaller. Obviously they're a HUGE profit center based on all of the money they can afford to spend on advertising. Total racket.

Oh….I agree with you 100%….The new jamb liner is in the garbage …another one on order. I used silicone spray…then got thinking last evening…that I also needed to use it on the back side of the liner. What a time getting it under the two windows. Such a poor design for such expensive windows. Will try Armor-All ! Thanks!
