I have two single-pickup guitars in my collection and I think ESP really made a mistake giving these only a volume pot. I almost never use the tone knob on my guitars with multiple pickups (single, humbucker, P90, whatever) but when you only have one pickup you really need that tone knob to get a full spectrum of sound. These might only appeal to players who want to play all-out all the time. Just my two pennies.

That's a very surprising sound out of that bridge pickup! Sounds very full and warmer than I would expect. I wasn't sure about these when they came out originally, because they seemed too simple, but now I'm sold they look and sound killer!

This reminds me of the Gibson Studio Lite. You get a beater guitar to have around everywhere and drag to rehearsals, and at some point you realise you don't touch your more expensive guitars anymore. It's like marrying your partner of years not out of Big Romantic Notions and Platonic Aspirations but just because she's been around forever and has become part of you.

Like Ryan from Motionless in White has a single pickup custom ESP EC baritone, Ricky also from the band has a single pickup Ibanez. Andrew Baena from Carosa has a single pickup 8 string Aristides, one of the guitarists from Meshuggah...

These look good, but I would need a tone knob. Only one pickup isn't an issue to me as someone who owns an Epiphone Old Glory and a Gordon Smith that is a single-pickup guitar, but to milk that one pickup as much as possible, you need a tone knob.

The problem with LTD now is down here these parts they charge almost as much as E2s were a few years back, cant justify spending that much for an LTD. I got LTD SN-1 for a deep discount ~1300 AUD which to me was a reasonable price for an LTD and it is a great guitar but would I pay ~2000+AUD for it? hell no

Really weird this doesn’t have a tone knob. I feel like the 2 knobs make the single pickup way more versatile. I mean I guess having a volume knob with push pull is nice but still. Also, the vintage burst on the website looks way better on the website than the video. On the website it has a reddish-brown hue that makes the back and edges of the top have more visible grain. If I were to get this guitar i wouldn’t be too happy with the almost tobacco burst look in the video. They sound immense though.
@Ottophil
@Ottophil 9 күн бұрын
I don’t understand tone knobs. I always disable them, and remove them from the circuit all together. Theres never a time where i would use them. And plenty of times i would accidentally bump them and wonder where my high end went
@zaccarter3801
@zaccarter3801 9 күн бұрын
@ I heavily use the tone knobs, but then again capacitors are essentially meaningless if you leave the knob at 10 or 0. I think it’s worth messing around with if you have guitars that have quality capacitors. But you may want higher resistance pots if you are worried about the high end being cut off with small turns cutting off treble.
@Ottophil
@Ottophil 9 күн бұрын
@ i have one of my gibsons set up with push pulls where the (huge orange drop) caps are not in circuit unless i pull the knobs out. I just never pull them out. So after that I just started using volumes only. If i want to change my tone I’ll do it on the amp or pedals
@zaccarter3801
@zaccarter3801 9 күн бұрын
@ totally hear that. I use a simple 2 channel amp with a master and channel volume. So the tone and volume knobs offer a lot of immediate tweaking to easily manage that break up crunch sound or smooth cleans without touching the amp. This isn’t extremely useful for overdrive or distortion though. In which case, I’ll use the pedal and amp EQ to get in the ballpark.
