3 cores, 1 private stock. All different models. The Private stock is absolutely incredible. Is it 5k more incredible than my cores in terms of feel? NO. That stated, it is an exceptional 1 of 1 art piece that I love. The split 58/15LT's sound incredible. Sounds like a Les Paul and Strat in 1 guitar. 16:09 and 18:40 are examples of exactly how good it is. I bought mine used and it has one small scratch, so I don't worry too much about playing it. If you are going to buy one, play it!

These are 85/15 not 58/15LT's. These as well as the 58/15LT's sound great split. I have 3 wood library really cool wood options 2 with 58/15 and one with 85/15. They are wonderful, but I also have two core models I would choose for the feel and sound over those. All of them are great!

I've tried to explain it to my friends an uncountable amount of times: PRS guitars have their own distinctive sound, even the SE I have and love. I describe it as a high "metallic" first strike accompanied, right after, with a low end acustic tone. Maybe that's what you guys have described as a "bell". I can only find that sound in PRS's.

The trick with a PRS Custom 24 is to buy one that's 20+ years old and pre-dinged. I bought an emerald green US Custom 24 10 top with some very minor dings. I can take it where ever and not be worried about a small bump. I'm still careful obviously but it's not pristine so I don't have to be as precious with it. It still sounds and plays amazing. It's surprising how cheap you can get one for. Luv and Peace.

Honestly Private Stock or not PRS builds really great sounding guitars lately. I had PRSs from 2 decades and they always lacked something in the character. They didn't really do their own thing. But since a few years they nailed some kind of formula to bring those axes alive and have their own recognizable character. The only brand I would choose over PRS would be Nik Huber but there you are in Private Stock territory anyways..

the funny thing to me is how *strong the opinions of those who are in camp: “tonewood is a myth” are. in my humble opinion wood does matter. it’s partially feel, partially construction, pickups, etc. the “sound” is a sum of all of those parts and ofcourse, how the musician feels while playing colors everything they play, so it matters in that regard as well. I’m not flocking to tonewood debunkers’ videos to shout my opinion though, it’s just that. my humble opinion. at the end of the day, a *living *breathing tree was killed for the use of these woods so I’m 100% on board with treating them with reverence and attributing special qualities to them. it’s the least we can do as their killers. lol. humans have a deep rooted(pun intended) history and connection to woodcraft, and it seems only natural that this still exists in some form in the guitar/intrument industry. it makes sense.

I think the tonewood debate is missing the wood for the trees. A high-end guitar (or a cheap personal favourite) will make you play differently. It may boil down to 'vibes', but that's no worse an argument than 'magic wood' or that only the pickups matter because the spectrum analyzer says so.
@edhornby48857 ай бұрын
Pete had it at 18min ; you have to play. Play the hell out of the one you already have and then when you are ready to get the next one, play lots of guitars and buy the one that really speaks to you. It might be a private stock or an epiphone but you will know.

It's a given that the Reed Smith guy is bringing out his new pedal next few months, it's going to be called the Horse Feathers or Horse-Radish I suppose, it'll sound different based on the metal it's encased in and the colour it's being presented in too more than likely no doubt...even the knobs will affect the tone as to whether your tweaking with plastic knobs as opposed to private stock metal knobs I heard? is it true?
