Abhinove Nagarajan.S oh man the stress of trying to play in that place! Fortunately unlike many guitar stores that I have been to the staff at andertons do an amazing job of not looking disdainfully at middle aged, talentless hacks like me when demoing gear. It was a wonderfully unthreatening space. But yes. Man Ben can play.

I’ve recently bought a great acoustic, and was surprised that the stringscratching was so loud. I thought that something was wrong with the guitar. Then I watched a video on the subject, and it turned out that I takes quite an amount of slow practice on to get rid of it. When I watched this video, and heard Ben play, I thought that the Martin was built in a way that minimized the scratching. But when Pete played it, I realized that I have just been playing electric all my life, and this is just what it sounds like, when a great electric guitarplayer switch to acoustic. So thank you both :) Lovely guitar, though.

Marco Lima It’s just the limited production stuff that is that expensive Clapton’s regular signature Strats are relatively affordable Standard US line model is $1,600 his standard Custom Shop is less than $5,000 and even his Martin’s are under $4,000. The same is true of Mayer his PRS Silver Sky is $2,300 his signature Strat was under $2,000 and his regular signature Martin is about the same price as Clapton’s.

Every brand new guitar I've bought except for one has come off the racks and been played by X number of punters. That's the way it goes, certainly in the UK. You have to try these things anyway! If I found one on the racks that I loved and wanted ro buy I wouldn't then want to 'swap' that one for a sealed box guitar that may have flaws or no mojo. Only one came straight to me in the sealed manufacturer's box and that was something I bought online.

Adam Varney Then they haven’t been ‘Brand New’. I actually take issue with this video, I have no intention to buy this guitar (lol), but it is now literally second-hand / ex-demo because of this video. If it was an of the shelf Jackson or Ibanez, fair enough; they probably have 20 of the exact same guitar in the stock room. But a guitar they blatantly have ONE of, if you buy this guitar, your buying the guitar in this video. It’s not new, it’s been opened and played by these two guys. It’s wrong in my opinion.

That's definitely true about the smashed up Martin, you can see it in Jennifer Jason Leigh's reaction. First time I watched it I thought maybe he'd smashed up her guitar, but after reading about the Martin I instantly knew that her reaction must have been because of that instead

Yeah, there was supposed to be a cut and have a replica smashed. She knew it was real because she spent months learning on it and Kurt Russell thought it was a replica for that take. I bet Tarintino knew though....

The chord progression as far as I hear it is: Am7 - Dsus2/F# - E/G# - Aadd9 - C#m9 - Esus2/G# - F#m11 - A/B or written in fret positions (from high e to low E) 010x0x - 032xx2 - 054xx4 - 00670x - 0089x9 - 0044x4 - 002xx2 - 0567x7 x = not played. I hope that helps.

Apparently after the whole Kurt Russell fiasco Martin issued a statement about not lending old historic guitars to movie production anymore.

I don't understand why they had to use an authentic historic guitar in Hateful 8 anyway. It's not like anyone would notice that it wasn't the real deal and it's a ridiculous risk to take.

I might get hate for it but it sounds nothing like a 10k POUNDS guitar.. I’d choose my 750 euro Mex Martin over this one sound wise.. is there something wrong with me?
@helloholahi
@helloholahi 4 жыл бұрын
nothing wrong! just: a) this is a fan collection/charity/investment guitar, that's why that price, there is indeed no correlation with the sound quality, even though of course, it isn't a cheap specs/sound one b) whatever speakers you've ben listening this video with, won't reproduce the exact sound and feel of it it your hands c) there are so many beautiful sounding guitars for less than 750€ out there anyway, and even the 3 guitars of the same brand/model will sound more or less different too, sooo....

So, how much money actually goes to Crossroads from the sale of one of these? Mu guess is that you could buy a Martin from the current range, make a substantial donation to Crossroads and still come out on the right side of £10,000. Just saying.
