Syril and Chief Hyne, two minor characters calmly speaking in a room and yet it was one of the most riveting scenes in all of Star Wars. The writing/acting caliber in this show is phenomenal so far

I'm in awe of this show. The world they are building, the way they are drawing Cassian into the rebellion, is all expertly done. And the Corpo leader is A FANTASTIC character that is giving me Kallus vibes.

The Chief was so on point. You either solve the murder of two publicly crooked cops, or you cover up the death of two helpful officers.

5BBY is the same exact year that Star Wars rebels first episode starts and a bunch of events that happened with the ghost crew.... Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker and Ezra are literally 14 years old during this... I thought I recognized the date but wasn't 100% sure well I am now,, pretty easy to google search

It's so interesting starting the story by seeing what it's like within the Empire when two people who are the equivalent of Stormtroopers die in a minor conflict. The officer attempting to cover up and sugar coat what happened OR the one attempting to track down the person responsible both lead to totally different outcomes that each feel morally wrong. That's a unique type of stressful helplessness that really highlights one of the things that makes the Empire so terrifyingly oppressive.

I love how the one corpo guy is trying to cover it up because it would reveal malfeasance by corpo employees if it was brought to light vs the guy who wants justice.

Finally they put the year in! Like BBY... I've been saying they should do that for years with so many movies and series all over the place. You shouldn't have to find out from interviews or Wookieepedia...

For me the dialogues are much better than in Obi Wan or TBOBF. So far loved the episodes.

Same for the acting tbh. So far it has been top notch!

Agreed. That said - at least for Kenobi - in a way I think it would have been strange if it had this type of dialogue/directing in part because I think by design Kenobi is supposed to be aping that hammy, operatic, cheesy/melodramatic style of Star Wars, in particular the prequels. (Kenobi also had its flaws but I also still enjoyed a lot of it). I think it would have been a little jarring to see something like this style in Kenobi. I'm really glad we get something like it here though.
@Sangth1232 жыл бұрын
Dialogue is better than Mandalorian too, by far.
@kptmaci49792 жыл бұрын
@@Sangth123 Yes, I 200% agree. But its not always bad / good distinction. Its also mostly just different shows. Mandalorian deals with silent characters, jedi, different planets constantly, episodic stories with mostly no overall plot. Feels very cartoony and the dialogues mostly reflect that. Same with Obi Wan Kenobi, feels more like fantasy, deals with more emotions and kids, more than nuanced intrigue. But this show - Andor, which is more grounded, needs tto also have more grounded, hence realistic dialogues and acting in my opinion. It is very good so far, as it is more serious than any other show recently, so I feel like it just feels better cause the tone is that much different and acting and dialogues reflect that perfectly.
@razorfett147 Жыл бұрын
Well lets be honest...this is probably the most well written and executed dialog in SW, yet...not just in the Disney era. Nothing in the sequels, definitely nothing in the prequels, and not much in the originals really matches Andors caliber in that department. This is SW with all the pulp strained out
@blueskybelyr2 жыл бұрын
My favourite thing about this show is how all the secondary characters feel like fully realised people. All the one-off conversations Cassian has seem like they have real depth! It's something Kenobi was sorely lacking, and even the Mandalorian and TBOBF got too up themselves by trying to wiggle in easter eggs in the script. This show is the best of them already.

This first episode really gives me hope that this is going to be the dark, gritty series I've been hoping it will be. It is obviously gonna have some levity and humor to it, but they don't seem to be doing it at the expense of the atmosphere. Not translating the Kenari is an interesting choice, but somehow we can still tell what they are saying. Additionally the sets look great so far, this world legitimately feels lived in.

When Cassian is on Keneri with his sister has to be riiiight after Order 66. If he's 12-14 in those flashbacks, then he can only be late 20s now and early 30s at the time of Rogue One, which looks about right.

The senior security guy understands the way things are and what needs to be done to fly under the radar of the higher ups. Meanwhile the younger guy is all about the training and book learning view of the job. I've seen them compared to the older more experienced commander that has been in the war zone for a few tours vs the just out of officer school LT that comes in and starts quoting regs. Then senior guy knows most of the security force aren't the best people, even saying they were places that shouldn't have been or shouldn't have been able to afford, tacitly acknowledging they are corrupt. That's why he wants to just figure out a way to continue flying under the radar, setting their deaths up as them just helping out, a sensible and inspiring death without a lot of fanfare. Keep the status quo so the higher ups don't take notice. Avoiding the Eye of Sauron, so to speak.

I really like that they showed he's willing to kill just like in Rogue One. For a moment it looks like he regrets it, almost an "omg what have I done moment" but then bam, shoots guy in the face. Shows he's been willing to kill for a long time.

Loved the first episode. Like you said, I was extremely happy they released 3 episodes because if they didn’t, I live in Florida and I would’ve driven down to Disney with ill intentions. Lol. So bby 5 so five years before the battle of yavin The rain and lights over the walk way reminds me of blade runner Nobody gives their real name showing this dark noir like show you can’t be totally honest and truthful. All those saps used to build a new fleet for the empire. Bunch of metal Star Wars galaxy has a big boar just like that So it takes more power for that droid to lie? I had to pause the show 30 seconds in to rant to my friends about how much I hate the use of "BBY 5" hahaha. It's a fan term that only the most hardcore fans will know, is meaningless to the casual fan, makes no sense to use in universe, and comes off to me as a sort of gross elitism thing where the "true fans" understand what it means so they can brag about it. It doesn't ruin the show by any means, it's a silly thing to be so worked up by, but man am I worked up over it because it just feels like Star Wars is bending over backwards to cater to the "true fans" in such gross ways.

Other then like one Character I really don't like any of them they are horrible people the characters not the actors the actors did a great job , the show itself was really well shot it's The Characters there motivations and personalities and the pacing is a killer.
