I suspect the Kennari adults were all forced to work in the mine and the mining accident is a cover up for whatever killed all the adults (possibly an attempted rebellion, hence the crashing ship?)

I love how well built and naturally lived in the settings look. And again the acting is still lights out good. The crashed ship was leaking yellow gas, which I think stained the dead crew.

He got several people killed by trying to get "justice" for a couple of corrupt cops, was told to leave it alone so that they don't have the empire breathing down their neck, got at least one innocent civilian killed and several injured. When do you think he's gonna start doing the right thing? Because until he's not working for the empire, which he is, he's not a good guy.
@artboymoy2 жыл бұрын
@@ISavant Yeah, so when the Empire shows up they'll see the security corporation isn't doing it's job and maybe adds a garrison to Morlana, recruiting him to be in charge of it. Because he was willing to act to maintain order. The Empire doesn't care if people get killed. There's no harm in speculating on an arc his character can go through. He could double down on being a total POS for all we know. That would be the easy and predictable thing to do.

This shows pacing & writing is what I appreciate the most. It doesn't feel like Star Wars & I mean that in the best of ways. Characters like Syril are the most compelling ones imo. A guy just trying to do the job to the best of his ability. His sense of what justice is to him, is stronger than the skills he currently has to get that done. The scene of him giving a speech to his comrades show's everything you need to know about his situation. Thanks for the reaction

Yeah, the best way to watch these first three episodes, is to binge it...for it is one arc. Every three episodes is going to be the same, culiminating in four arcs (covering one year) this season and four arcs (each one covering one year) next season. Season 1 - 5 BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin) Season 2 - 4 BBY - Arc 1 (Ep 1, Ep 2, and Ep 3), 3 BBY - Arc 2 (Ep 4, Ep 5, and Ep 6), 2 BBY Arc 3 (Ep 7, Ep 8, and Ep 9) and 1 BBY Arc 4 (Ep 10, Ep 11, & Ep 12). The Empire has been known, in past films and in the novels to "use up" planets for their resources and leave them when they've been stripped of ALL their resources. So, the dig that happened on Kinari was probably the same...and they've covered it up by saying there was a "mining accident" that left the planet toxic. Conjecture suggests that ALL the adults were killed...and ONLY the children of these adults were saved. It looks like all the people that were on that transport that crashed on Kinari died of either the crash OR the poisoning by the green/yellow gas. The people wore patches that said they were with the Confederacy of Independent Systems, AKA The Separatists, lead by Count Dooku (and Emperor Palpatine). BUT, it is strange, since the ship looks Imperial in design. Don't know what is going on there. Love the Time Grappler...he is epic in his task of calling the end of the day and the beginning of the day. Also, the metal that he is hitting (and the hammers) looks like it is made of Beskar. So, that is interesting). Poor Timm...such jealousy. Stupid beats ignorance. Ugh. Yes, it does sound like...from Maarva and B2emo, that Bix and Cassian had (at one time) a romantic relationship, but now they're just business partners in the Black Market of Imperial Tech. Well, thanks for this...today. Looking forward to your thoughts on Ep 3. Marie and I have already watched the first three episodes twice and have watched about 10 reactions of at least the first two episodes, if not the first three. It is so much fun to see everyone's reactions. We are loving the grittiness and the groundedness of the story...and yes, we wouldn't mind a little sexy time...for it just the things that happen in life. Talk to you, later.

Disenchanted and dare say... rebellious? :p We've seen the Imperial officer lady in Obi-Wan turn. Who's to say this won't happen to Syril? Yeah those who crashed in the ship are 100% Separatists you can see CIS symbols on their uniforms. Would place this around the Clone Wars no doubt near the end of the conflict. We rarely see humanoid CIS soldiers or crewmen as we're so used to the Trade Fed B1 Battledriods and the Techno Union Super bnattledroids so it's nice to see normal humanoids who did indeed fight against the Republic in the Clone Wars.

I think the "mining disaster" is likely a cover story for something else. Maybe the empire - well, not really the empire because at that time, it wasn't the empire yet, right? But probably the group of people who would become the empire is responsible for killing the adults of the Kenari tribe. And they put out the story of a mining disaster resulting in a toxic environment, so that people won't go snooping around and finding out what really happened. Having said that, it's kind of funny that Syril is doing all he's doing because he was not happy with what his chief ordered him to do, which is cover up and downplay what happened to those 2 Pre-Mor employees. But he doesn't realize that the higher ups (the Empire) who he wants to impress (because certainly that's a reason why he's doing all this, in addition to wanting justice - he wants to prove his chief was wrong in wanting to cover it up)... he doesn't realize that the Empire does that as well - cover up and downplay events that's way more sinister than what happened here.

I loved so much about the early 3 episodes of this show apart from Tim and his role in the story. It just feels kind of contrived. Bix seems like a smart woman, I dont think she'd be willing to end up with someone like Tim if he is always this way. Perhaps having him think he's looking out for the whole town by sacrificing Cassian would fix the issue. However, the way he currently IS played, I dont think he's meant to be entirely insecure. I think that it starts that way, but then he realizes she is being unusually secretive, and investigates, albeit in a slightly creepy manner. The one look in the morning didnt strike me as a creepy or obsessive look, it struck me as a, "what have I done, should I have done that?" look. also, it's weird that in Star Wars theres just a guy named Tim.

I didn't have a problem with where the first episode ended, but it was this (2nd) episode that I felt the ending came from nowhere. 😛 To be clear, I don't have a problem with this either, or it's not a big deal for me, really. Just that I was surprised that it ended there. Which is why I also think that these first 3 episodes were meant to be just one big episode, and I kind of wonder why they decided to divide it into three... I also realized I didn't know the episode titles as I was watching them... So I looked at them afterwards thinking maybe that would explain the divisions. The first was titled Kassa which makes sense being the introduction to our main character. The third was Reckoning which makes sense as well... But this second was... 'That Would Be Me'? That was quite weird as well. I mean, it was a line Cassian said in the episode but I didn't feel it carried the weight or meaning of the whole episode so... why? (Or maybe I'm just missing it?) Again, this makes me think these were just supposed to be one big episode, so why divide it? In any case, this was a minor thing because they dropped all 3 episodes at once. I am, however, a little worried if the next episodes are going to have weirdly positioned endings, too, since those are going to be released 1 week apart, if I'm not mistaken. And looking at the episode breakdown in wiki, I'm worried that I might have reason to worry. (Lol! 😅) -- 1,2,3 - directed by 1 person, written by 1 person -- 4,5,6 - another 3-episode arc directed by 1 person, written by 1 person -- 7 - the only 'single' episode directed by 1 person, written by 1 person; was this the limiting factor? was this the template for how long an episode is going to be so they won't be too far off from each other? -- 8,9,10 - yet another 3-episode arc directed by 1 person, written by 1 person -- 11,12 - a 2-episode season finale directed by 1 person, written by 1 person 11 & 12, that's fine. Multi-episode finales with cliffhangers in between is pretty standard. But if they have weird endings/division/cliffhangers in 4,5,6 and 8,9,10... people might not to be too happy waiting a week in between... But maybe I'm just getting way too ahead of myself here. 😅 Maybe there are no weird endings. I should really just wait and see. 😛

Nails look fab, Angela! If you haven't see the comments yet, but this first arc really should have been one long premiere episode. That's why it really feels weird in their episode ends. We saw Syril really kinda being that upper management douche that thinks he knows better from last episode. The boss is telling him to let it go and the underlings are less than enthused to do it. Yes! some space sexy! Wonder if Bix has a metal bikini in the shop. :) I'm thinking that the "mining disaster" is the Empire's way of tying up loose ends. I believe they mined the crap out of the planet to get material for the Death Star and to keep it quiet they executed a few thousand people and their families. Then they say its a disaster and cordon off the planet. If anyone says they're from Kenari, it puts an Imperial target on their back. There's only kids around because like Jyn, the kids were hidden away, but now left to fend for themselves for the past 6 or 7 years, looking at Kassa's age there and Cassian saying he's been in this fight since he was 6 years old. Yeah, Timm is a boob. Bix can do so much better.
