I can't believe it took me until this episode to realize that the prisoner uniforms are white with hints of orange, whereas the Rebel color scheme is orange with hints of white. These are the early days of the Rebellion in its proper form, so the orange is still small, but noticeable against the stark white of the Empire.

I think Keno survives, for two reasons. His speech, he said they need to help each other. Someone will help him. Second, his eyes when he was looking down. It wasn't pride. He was studying. Just like it was sink-or-swim for each of them to learn on the fly by watching and teaching each other. His eyes look like he's trying to learn how to swim REAL quick, he ain't done.

I feel like Luthen and Kino are an interesting Juxtaposition. Luthen has gone full dark and lost hope for himself and is willing to sacrifice others for the rebellion in order to not attract attention whereas Kino has gone from keeping his head down and doing what's necessary to survive to risking everything for freedom and demonstrating compassion. His character is so compelling. In a way Kino is the nobel one while Luthen, while necessary to the rebellion, is the more 'evil' one. I'm not a character/literary expert but I feel like there would be an interesting in-depth comparison to be done between these two 'leaders' by someone far more skilled than myself.

I think Keno knew and had fooled himself into hoping. He knew he couldn't escape really because it was surrounded by water and there was never any way he'd make it. He decided in the end to say to hell with it and help the rest of his crew live and get out, to fight. Andy Serkis deserves an Emmy.

I didn't expect Keno to be that interesting of a character when we first saw him but Andy Serkis just killed it. My heart dropped the second "I cant swim" came out of his mouth. I audibly gasped

I really get the vibe that Luthen is basically the Rebellion's Palpatine. The way he plays so many angles, how he holds himself in his different personas, it all echoes the Emperor.

Something you might have missed but idk is that in rebels Ezra's parents escaped during a prison break and they never confirmed an exact location/planet for that. So this could very well be the prison escape that set them free and they died in. Season 2 episode 'legacy' focuses on that.
@foulrot
@foulrot 2 жыл бұрын
It can't be, the timeline doesn't match-up. Ezra was 7 when his parents died, and we know that Ezra was born on empire day, which was 19 BBY, so they would have died around 12 BBY; we found out in episode 1 that Andor starts at 5 BBY.

@@foulrot wait hold up I thought Andor took place after kenobi which was 10 years after ROTS… and I recall hearing Luthen say “15 years “ he’s been fighting this. That would make sense with the timeline since that would make it season 2 of rebels and Ezra is obviously the same age as Luke which makes this just 3-4 years before the battle at yavin-4?! Right??
@foulrot
@foulrot 2 жыл бұрын
@@parkerhumphrey8982 if Episode 1 is 5 BBY, we can assume episode 10 is between 5 and 4 BBY; 4 BBY makes Luthen's 15 year comment make sense if he created his formula around Empire day, since the first Empire day is 19 BBY.

I feel like this series came out during the perfect time in my life. I've always loved Star Wars since I was a child but the gritty and ruthless tellings of a galaxy under a fascist grip was something I never thought I would see. It shows the intricacies of the governmental system and just how hard it is to live in suppression while the powerful and wealthy feast like hyenas and sip high-dollar wine in lustrous facilities, guarded and safe. It shows the bottom of the barrel juxtaposed with the top and how the contents inside react when the cap is weakened or popped off. This is adult Star Wars and it is everything I've ever wanted but didn't know I did. No lightsabers, no space wizards, just people trying to survive under a tyrannical opposition that will not hold back. It doesn't feel like Star Wars but it also very much does at the same time. I can't wait for the finale and season(s) to come.

I'd honestly liken the repeating of "tomorrow" to something from a lighter source: Annie. Think of "Tomorrow", the song in which they talk about how "the sun will come out...tomorrow" so you've "gotta hang on 'til tomorrow" but conclude by noting it's "always a day away" - that fleeting hope that seems to keep fading for the prisoners, as their sentences are lengthened or they learn they'll simply be transferred to another prison (or another part of the same one). I don't think the writer was necessarily thinking of that, but I think it's as relevant a parallel as the Macbeth quote.
