I feel like Luthen and Kino are an interesting Juxtaposition. Luthen has gone full dark and lost hope for himself and is willing to sacrifice others for the rebellion in order to not attract attention whereas Kino has gone from keeping his head down and doing what's necessary to survive to risking everything for freedom and demonstrating compassion. His character is so compelling. In a way Kino is the nobel one while Luthen, while necessary to the rebellion, is the more 'evil' one. I'm not a character/literary expert but I feel like there would be an interesting in-depth comparison to be done between these two 'leaders' by someone far more skilled than myself.

@foulrot2 жыл бұрын
It can't be, the timeline doesn't match-up. Ezra was 7 when his parents died, and we know that Ezra was born on empire day, which was 19 BBY, so they would have died around 12 BBY; we found out in episode 1 that Andor starts at 5 BBY.

@@foulrot wait hold up I thought Andor took place after kenobi which was 10 years after ROTS… and I recall hearing Luthen say “15 years “ he’s been fighting this. I feel like this series came out during the perfect time in my life. I've always loved Star Wars since I was a child but the gritty and ruthless tellings of a galaxy under a fascist grip was something I never thought I would see. It shows the intricacies of the governmental system and just how hard it is to live in suppression while the powerful and wealthy feast like hyenas and sip high-dollar wine in lustrous facilities, guarded and safe. It shows the bottom of the barrel juxtaposed with the top and how the contents inside react when the cap is weakened or popped off. This is adult Star Wars and it is everything I've ever wanted but didn't know I did. No lightsabers, no space wizards, just people trying to survive under a tyrannical opposition that will not hold back. It doesn't feel like Star Wars but it also very much does at the same time. I'd honestly liken the repeating of "tomorrow" to something from a lighter source: Annie. Think of "Tomorrow", the song in which they talk about how "the sun will come out...tomorrow" so you've "gotta hang on 'til tomorrow" but conclude by noting it's "always a day away" - that fleeting hope that seems to keep fading for the prisoners, as their sentences are lengthened or they learn they'll simply be transferred to another prison (or another part of the same one). I don't think the writer was necessarily thinking of that, but I think it's as relevant a parallel as the Macbeth quote.
