HI. I like your channel and I love your Andor content. I also like the fact that you try to respond to as many comments as possible. I think Perrin is one of the more curious and intriguing characters in the show, and is a better person than he appears to be at first glance. My guess is that Perrin is being set up for a surprisingly loyal sacrifice arc. Bear with me... Mon refers to him in one scene as the "Academy Firebrand". So he was rebellious in his youth. He also mentions, very subtly, that he never looks out the window (right before: "Here she is. Your embassy hostess. The question was, how many hours a day do we stand here admiring the view?"). So he seems like someone who long ago gave up on his own personal ambitions. "Must everything be boring and sad?" He does show an interest in her work, he just finds politics very tedious. "When were you planning to tell me about this new foundation?" "Well, I didn't think you'd be interested." "Why is that?" "It's charitable." He doesn't argue with Mon but he is challenging her assumptions. She's projecting his lack of interest, but she is the one trying not to draw attention to what she's really up to. There's also clues that he sees through Mon's act - "She pretends not to care, but we both know better, don't we?", he says to Tay Kolma, and when Mon says, "I was just better at pretending", he replies "Well, that I find hard to believe.". She's way more skilled at pretending now. He knows her well enough to know that much. One last clue; we presume that Davo Sculdun, whom Mon refers to as a "thug" has connections to the underworld and those opposed to "the Empire's new regulations", yet he also mentions that he's met Perrin "several times". Perrin is also known to socialize with those who oppose Mon Mothma's efforts. "They spend every day trying to undo anything I've touched." So he is someone with connections on both sides of the fence. When Perrin discovers how deep Mon is really in it, that what she's doing is so much more than just a pointless futility and a dull irritation, it may reawaken the bravery and passion inside the rebellious youth who never looks out the window anymore. Or he will feel betrayed. I hope it's the former, but I don't discount the latter.

Ooooh I like this! Great observation. I’d like to take it a step further. What if he stays close with the imperial loyalists as a way to keep his own enemies close? As a Machiavellian twist? He has his own secret rebellion against the Empire with the help of Davo Sculden.

As an English major a long time ago and far, far away, I can say today, bravo. You developed a set of interesting and plausible ideas using impeccable grammar. I'm finding Star Wars can sometimes be as intricate and good as Shakespeare but for a more modern audience, even if the setting is much more fictional. Perhaps you've noticed that as well.

Mon Mothma is an absolutely incredible side character that I am more than happy to continue to see in film. Her character is one of the reasons Andor was such a good series. Her secret of financial responsibilities to the rebellion, her drama with her family life, and dealings with underworld criminals make her a great character. In Return of the Jedi, when she is at the meeting to look over the Death Star plans. The actress playing her (Caroline Blakiston),I believe does an awesome job of the look of losing a loved one or a close friend. Go back and watch it.

In civil wars, families were divided by opinions and on the battlefield brother killed brother. After the war some families healed as best they could, but for others the wounds were too deep.

The term has been used a lot already, but quite truly, “the cost of rebellion” beautifully describes the theme of the show Andor. And it’s not limited to those actively rebelling - the entire galaxy suffers as the Empire reactively tightens its grip. Loved ones, family bonds, careers, livelihoods, community, personal pursuits, anything and everything people hold dear, can and may be demanded as the Galaxy turns to rebellion. It also makes for an interesting commentary on conservatism vs radical reform. Depending on the reform in question, some people may prefer to maintain the current system because they, naturally, want to keep those things they hold dear. Those who choose to pursue radical reform do so at great risk, even if they never have to stare down the barrel of an E-11 blaster rifle.

@kirkdarling4120 The story is going progress and show why it's wrong. Not giving a choice isn't right. Being robbed of your freedom isn't right. That's fascism.

I’d wonder what the rebellions reaction would be if more noble imperials were in charge. Like a proper police force instead of the isb and the military sticking to bases instead of acting as military and police…

If the empire were a novel establishment and considered the welfare of all its citizens, I don’t think there would be an issue. But they would have to allow the autonomy of systems wanting to remain independent of a centralized government.

I am confident we will get an answer to what happened to Mon Mothma's family. I can't see them not wrapping it up for us. My personal opinion is her husband doesn't get in the way for any other reason than he is a bit of a sh!+. Look. He seems as "content" in the marriage as she is. He has spent too much time gambling, and he doesn't seem to pay attention to anything very important. We all know a guy (or gal) just like this. He enjoys the perks of his marriage but isn't overly happy. He acts up or against her because he is bored and really does not care too much what his partner thinks. This is what is so great about Andor, the characters. They gave us real people with real lives and real problems. They show us behind the scenes what this rebellion meant to one small slice of people so we can imagine what it meant to millions of people. Anyway. I'm droning on and on. I love the new name. Thank you for the content.

Thank you! And it’s nice to see a relationship not in the honeymoon stage. Even near the end of it. So many stories are full of happily ever after. This is real world stuff that all of us can say we’ve been through.

Yes, the rebels at the top like Mon Mothama. She would want to restore the republic. But he foot soldiers under her would want something better. Most of them hated the republic. This is an issue that none of the shows really deals with. I think that the rebels at the bottom would demand liberty, equality, fraternity and a socialist safety net. How about talking about this?

The residents of Ferrix, for instance, want what they had: A haven of Free Enterprisers, not a bunch of French Revolution ideals imposed by a central government. Twileks on Ryloth, Togruta on Shili, Wookies on Kashyyyk...none of them want any level of control by a central government. What I see more readily is that they want what the United States originally was: To be left alone to run their own worlds. That's why this is a rebellion against a central government tyranny instead of a revolution: There is a difference between a rebellion and a revolution.
