The Heat prove what can be accomplished with even a moderate amount of discipline. The fact it’s proven so hard to replicate demonstrates just how difficult it is to juggle egos in the NBA.

If this was true they would win a championship every year. But there's clear downsides to it. Not just the idea of egos, but also it's physically taxing playing that way. That's what Iggy is saying.

I would argue its alot more then moderate discipline. The culture is based on discipline and responsibility. A moderate discipline would be be you show up to practice on time and ready to go. Heat discipline seems more like you show up 30 min before in heat provided uniform are warmed up and have already started practicing

@@uwannasee_greatnessour biggest problem even before Bron & bosh joined the team was that we never had a true pg & center. We had to stick with Rio, Joel Anthony, have Bosh at the 5 sometimes, use whiteside (which i was never a fan of), traded for Lowry & so on. We’ve been depending on our forwards & shooting 3s but I believe if we had a true 5 then we could’ve matched up with Denver this past finals or the finals in 2020.

Well yeah. It’s more of about narratives and drama from outlets like ESPN. There is barely analytics since those channels are more for entertainment. Although I did like Malika Andrew’s pointing out that no one on the Warriors besides Steph consistently scores 20 a game this season.

There is no reason to watch ESPN anymore. Highlights directly from the NBA on KZbin, up to the minute news from Twitter, inside info from player podcasts, play break downs and strategy analyses from KZbinrs. All ESPN has is guys put in a room and told to find something to disagree about and yell about it.

Wade in Miami was an appropriate facsimile of Kobe though. In everything but overall career-level success, the two struck me as some of the closest equals. The games between the three way triarchy of Wade, Kobe, and LeBron, where each could be the best in the league, and with them guarding each other, were just some of the most fun games I've ever seen.

They had D Wade, there wasn't much of a difference. Prime DWade is arguably on the same level of Kobe. People were too focused on the fact that Kobe's teammates (2004-2007) and LeBrons (2003-2010) weren't that good, that they missed that Wade's from 2007-2010 were just as bad on many occasions. Not many can claim to have led a team to a championship by being the best player on the team with the margin that D Wade was in 06 when he had a good supporting cast. Don't forget it was just his 3rd year in the league. Wade was probably in terms of skills and accomplishments the best guard to ever do it in his first years. He was a champion way quicker than Jordan, and way quicker a champion than Kobe as the undisputed man on his team. Just because Kobe (unfortunately) isn't with us anymore, doesn't mean other players weren't just as worthy as he was if doing great things. Dwyane Wade is the most underappreciated player ever.

I think the reason miami did so bad the 2021 season was because them and the lakers had the shortest offseason in NBA history. They didn't have time to relax, let their bodies recover, train properly, get fit for the next season, and get their heads straight. In reality if they had a real offseason, that mental strain probably wouldnt have been so bad.

Fascinating to hear him talk about the Warriors like that, their free-flowing style has brought them great success, and it’s pretty cool that their identity has been built on that despite those relative weaknesses (turnovers etc). If they played the way the Heat did, it would’ve probably not worked out for them anyway, Steph & Draymond need to be able to have that freedom, but maybe that speaks to their generational talent as well.
@farsous10
@farsous10 7 ай бұрын
Different factors come into play with that, the warriors culture probably fits for players like Steph and Draymond to have thet freedom, as well as the young guys in the team so they don't feel that pressure that can stun their growth, and I think the player that fits that culture the most is by far Klay given his personality. Miami's culture is great and respected for so long and have given them success too, I don't think it's easy to say which culture is better, just depends on the fit based on players the two teams have. Warriors obviously had more success recently so it's easy to say they have better culture, but warriors talent specifically Steph is far greater than anyone in Miami's rn. But if Miami has that level of talent they can win more, like when they had lebron

JJ really was getting fuel to be a coach. Xs and Os are important but if he can establish a strong culture in LA that balances intensity with a carefree attitude he could do a great job

Why did the Celtics ever move off of Brad Stevens?? Wasn’t he always a great coach?? I know he’s still a GM and stuff but like he never really fell off in coaching right? And he’s still young lowkey too

@@theKing-hi1cm I think this was part of it but also I think Brad just couldn't handle multiple strong personalities in the locker room. He's a great X's and O's guy but big difference between coaching college kids and grown men.

The Miami Heat have one of the best organizations in pro sports. They didn’t immediately fall off as soon as 1 player left or joined the team. They always stayed in the mix and top tier of teams most seasons
@dsg3053
@dsg3053 8 ай бұрын
False. The Heat wasn't always in the mix or top tier. Once DWade came along, the Heat have been consistent. Prior to DWade, the Heat were a regular season team that didn't hold up too well in the playoffs outside of one season and they still struggled going to the ECF. Prior to that, the Heat sucked. Let's not omit facts
@biscaynesupercars
@biscaynesupercars 8 ай бұрын
@@dsg3053 what are you talking about lol. They got knocked out by jordan and the bulls in the conference finals way before wade and they always went back and forth with the knicks in the playoffs. Plus the fact that you had to go back 20 years by saying “prior to Wade” shows how great the franchise has been. Your argument is “20 years ago they didn’t go as deep in the playoffs as they usually have been for the last 20 years” lol

“I have to check my phone for my family” Cool that takes 7 seconds. Find your phone, look at the lock screen, no messages? Cool put it away.

exactly except in that 7 seconds your coach or other player looks over and you get yelled at. Even though it was for like no time at all, happened to me once when I was at work I dropped my phone out of my pocket, and picked up to check if the screen was broke, and literally just as i flipped it over my boss looked at me and almost fired me for "being on my phone" luckily I've never used my phone at work so when I said what happened they believed me but things like that do happen

Sounds to me like the Heat could try just a couple of Phil the Zen Master techniques and provide just enough relaxation to keep the razor’s edge sharp but not brittle

1) you don’t need to check in with your wife and kids during halftime. Gimme a break. 2) why would you NOT want to check the stat sheet during a timeout? You can get info on what your team is doing right and what their team is doing wrong and vice versa.

If you say you respect your teammates that means you gotta respect your body. When you go to the heat you gotta show your teammates that you improved your body. Shaq was the most dramatic but a lot of players who went there got in better shape
