If you watch carefully you’ll realise how dirty Ward was as a fighter, very savvy as-well, how he comes in with his head occasionally elbowing his opponents on the inside where the ref can’t see, he made a career out of this. It’s very difficult to fight a dude like this, he’ll nick rounds like this and coast to 12 round decision wins and majority of his career were 12 rounders. He also wasn’t a friendly watch to the eye maybe that’s also the reason he never got much attention and never become a superstar.

Those last 2 body shots were perfect , definitely not a low blow. Obviously some fighters when hit with a really good body punch they play it off like it was a low blow and with his boxers wear those high shorts it sometimes takes an instant replay to see if it was a low blow or not. Ward won this fight fair and square. I find that body shot TKO’s are the best way to finish a fight. Anybody can land a lucky punch to the chin and knock someone out but it takes a real good hard precise puncher to stop a high profile fight with a body shot. Ryan Garcia’s last win against Luke Campbell was one of the best finishes I’ve seen in boxing in a while, besides Tank Davis’s last win with that uppercut from hell lol.

After taking that big punch Kovalevs legs wobbled and he was looking woozy/dizzy. By then the fight was over because Kovalev couldn't protect himself anymore. Then Ward went straight to the body. The shot that Kovalev complained about that he thought was slow was actually before the punch that made Kovalev dizzy. If you can't see that Kovalev was hurt after that shot then you need to stop watching boxing.

This is why when some fighters get hit at or below the waist band on their trunks, they may act as if they were hit with a low blow, and the spectators believe it, when it was not actually a low blow. And fighters have worn trunks excessively high to discourage legit lower body shots. And fight commentators sometimes add to the confusion with their own comments. A low blow is when it lands on the low waist below the navel, regardless of where the waist band is on the trunks.
