A "Fair"ly Busy Week ║ Large Family Vlog │ Summer Break Week 5

This week is the Crook County Fair so we have our annual sleepover at Grandma Fern's house, go to the fair parade and then go visit the animals and exhibits at the fair. This week we also go to Grandma Jane's 82nd birthday party (Grandma Jane has Alzheimer's), get a new wheel chair to use with Grandma Fern and Grandpa Frank, go to the Blakeman Family Reunion, get a package from Wales, tear out the carpet in the girls' room, set up the new pool and take a trip to the Belle Fourche River where Asher catches a little fish.

I almost cried when Tom's Grandfather tried to kiss his wife and she wanted nothing to do with him. Alzheimer's is so terrible. Kids don't care how cold it is. What fun!

Since my mom passed away I lost a lot of my "family" connections. Watching yours warms my heart and helps me feel like I still have a large family. What wonderful voices you all have. I love how you are so calm and relaxed when the kids are around mud and water!! I so wish I had been like that with my kids!! I can see how freely experiencing things like mud and puddles is such a happy experience. Not that I didn't know this already, I was just always more worried about the clothes and shoes. They are so lucky that you are not worried about that so they can freely explore. BRAVO!!

I love the song that you played while driving with Grandma Fern in the car and watching the trees... what a way to get lost in one's thoughts. Grandma Fern is still sharp as a whip and Grandma Jane looked so lost. I felt sad for Grandpa Frank when he went to kiss her and she drew back. Dementia stinks. Thank you for bringing me along.

I hadn't thought about how old Jane and Kitty were when they had kids till now. Jane is 82 and Kitty is... oh now I can't remember... between 60-62, so I suppose Grandma Jane was 18-20 when she was born. Tom is 40, so Kitty would've been 20-22 when she had him.

I enjoyed your busy week. I enjoy the fair too, especially the taffy. Our annual fair we attend has just started. We are going to a cookout tomorrow and then the fair. It's about 30 minutes from our house. Grandma Fern's wheelchair works great. So handy for you too. Alzheimer's is really hard. I think every family I know has experienced it in one way or another. My husband and I both lost our Moms to alzheimers. Now his older brother and sister have alzheimers. It is a very hard disease to go through. The boys did such a good job on the carpet. They are such good boys.

You didn't have to buy the whole kit to make slime :) There are lots of tutorials on how to make it at home with glue, water, and borax with food coloring of your choice. Borax costs about $3 at walmart

We only bought glue; we had everything else. Justus and Eden had been following tutorials from KZbin for awhile and when I saw the recipe book I thought they'd love it. We were out of glue from all of the previous batches and our little local grocery store was out of glue from Justus buying it all up.
