Yeah, I feel like Brian May was always slept on when talking about top 10 guitarists ever. Nobody had this dude’s sound. And his solos were always so right for each song. Nothing ever feels out of place nor do I ever hear it and think “it would be improved if he did this”
@niunia199914 жыл бұрын
His guitar is so melodic, so full. His ideas were always fresh and very pleasant to listen. Let's not forget he wrote nearly as many songs as Freddie. And I agree with someone above that Queen in terms of others than Freddie. They weren't liked by critcs and public eye but loved by their fans. And they tried every fucking thing that came to their head that's why they were also controversial. And in all this, everybody forgets that they didn't just play instruments or sing - they created harmonics, they had whole songs in their heads, they couldn't do anything as maginificent without each other as well. I also feel like Roger is underrated a lot lot more. He wasn't (isn't) technical drummer but I feel like he was crucial and provided stability. Not many people know that he was in control of many things that were happening on the stage during concert, for example keeping an eye on the sound volume balance. We forget in days of computer beat, how important job drummer had to keep the whole band in time and control what was happening, he couldn't mess up, otherwise the whole band'd be out of it. Anyway, back to Brian, he is indeed an extraordinary musician, like they all.

Not spot on. There is impatience with tempo. I always saw brian mays tempo and thought, i bet people think thats easy because his tempo is slow on this song. Like 'play the game's' tempo. But if you don't play the tempo with patience you fuck it up. It's pure rhythm. Thats why some othe songs he didn't get it right. It was more attempt at mimicing without the soul, and patience. Watch it again, and notice the song riffs he likes more, are the ones he gets right. He didn't do bad at all. Just impatient with tempo and feeling.

This guy got it down exactly like Brian plays it! The feel, the bends, the dynamics, it's very similar to Brian's style - mad props!

The variety of guitar licks that Brian made it over the years was totally amazing and totally entertaining. This combined with Freddie's ability to sing and also to compose made queen an incredible band, not to mention Roger Taylor and John Deacon who are awesome musicians in and of themselves.

@@ellabeavis9417 Out of all the Queen albums I find myself preferring this one over most. I really like A Night at the Opera and News of the World, which I both have on vinyl. I do agree that Hot Space isn't the best album ever, but I find myself liking it better than most others.

I remember back in early 2015, when you published your original "Get Lucky"video, I had just been kicked out from the band where I was simply a 'hired gun vocalist'. After having watched your video I decided I wanted to become valued not only as a vocalist but as a guitarist as well. Back around that time, I only used open chords and just a few barre ones. Fast forward two years later, I've been finally getting to play note-based riffs like you do - though obviously not at your skill level - (I've been playing guitar since 2009 when I was 14, and it did not occur to me that that note-based riffs could be sprung from barre chords until a few months ago. Seven and a half-years to realize that). And thanks to that "existential revelation" I am more comfortable playing a chord progression on barre chords (Let's say on frets after the 4th or 5th) rather than with open ones (I sometimes do use open ones when writing down new songs for the sake of reference, though). Listening you play all these riffs inspires me to keep improving my guitar skills.

I think the problem is that the majority of electric guitar players are self taught. Progress for most of them would be much quicker, if they had a classic education on guitar. Learning to read tabs, learning to read notes, correct fingering, playing scales, plus all the useful tips you get from a teacher.

Queen influenced SO many artists, especially heavy metal guitarists. I remember seeing interviews with Metallica and such who said as much. Early Queen was up there, with bands like UFO and then they developed into their signature style in the late 70's and through the 80's that so many would come to know them for. LOVE this video and I jumped right to 1980 and 86 to hear you play Flash and Highlander tunes... and as always, you nailed it!

Love your videos, and peace from a fellow guitarist/bassist from Canada. Last off, what was the guitar you used for Brighton Rock, Fat Bottomed Girls, Space Capsule and Radio GaGa, I'm Going Slightly Mad, The Hitman and Made In Heaven? It's amazing to see Queen change over the years from Keep Yourself Alive to No One But You (not used in this but still). They started off like any other rock band of their time and by the end of it had become the greatest rock band in history.
