You should check out Kiev 2020 performance of "SOS" : kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2nMm3dvg5qHg80 Arnau 2019 (tribute to his friend Denis Ten, who died at the hands of thieves) : kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnK0nq2Oqd2SjM0 Indeed SOS 2021 Digital Show version is the best one for introducing someone new to Dimash, but emotionally, there`s dozens of different shades of SOS. Dimash has been singing this song since 2012, and it gradually became his "calling card". Dimash kept only some of the lyrics, giving the song a stripped down, philosophical meaning. With time, he gave the song a larger "lament for humanity" meaning, and a "goodbye" meaning, dedicated to people, artists, "pulled away by waves from another world" at a young age. Since 2018 - Dimash turned "SOS" into a tribute and goodbye to his friend Denis Ten, young kazakh figure skater, murdered by thieves at age 25. He had skated to "SOS", and they were planning to do a "duet" performance, but they never got to do that, Denis was killed. In his London concert (2018) and Arnau Kazakhstan (2019), Dimash had images of Denis playing on the big stage screens. In London, at the end of "SOS", Dimash wiped tears off his face and abruptly walked off the stage, took a break to gather himself. In Arnau Kazakhstan concert, he invited Denis` parents to the concert and dedicated the song to them as well, and gave a speech in memory of Denis. Since 2018-2019 : "SOS" has become a tribute to Denis, and music icons that died young : during his performance of "SOS", in his concerts, on the big stage screens roll images of : Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Freddie Mercury, George Michael, Amy Winehouse, Chester Bennington, A`Studio band`s lead singer Batyrkan Shukenov (who died at age 52 of a heart attack, and whom Dimash admired a lot), and many, many others. Aside from a tribute-goodbye to precious people who died young, he also sings this song as a lament for the world, and on the screens roll images of painful events that sometimes make us want to be a bird, hoping this world would be better seen from above : the burning of Notre Dame, cities destroyed by natural disasters, pandemic etc. More than the vocal techniques and layers that Dimash added to "SOS" since a younger age, the myriad of emotions of different colors that he chooses with each performance, is a greater treasure to follow and witness. Thanks for introducing Dimash to a talented singer. Excellent video. There are very specific reasons why Dimash isn't known by more people. Especially in the American/Western entertainment market. Factors: Dimash is in charge along with his father, his team and his family...of course, ultimately answering to God Almighty. The West likes to control their artists. The narrow minded on the business side have categories they want their artists to fit in and Dimash is in a category of his own. And a few other very specific reasons. Go Dimash!

I agree that this performance of SOS is most definitely the most technically advanced performance by Dimash. What this one lacks is the crowd connection. Thats why his SOS performance in the 2017 I Am Singer Competition Show will always have a special place in my heart. Also, it was my first time hearing Dimash @ 5 yrs ago. The circumstances as well... Dimash a first time ever non-Chinese contestant, youngest ever contestant and relatively unknown to the audience and fellow competitors. To cap all that, he OPENED the show with SOS and simply blew everyones mind. Incredible. Thank u for the love u express for Dimash and continuing to help spread his music. Mark

This cover is amazing, but don't forget it's a cover.... This song was especially written for Daniel Balavoine, unknown at these times, he had a ro'e in the rock opéra Starmania, in the 70's. After that, he could become famous as a composer, writer and singer.... He quickly became famous in France, he sang a lot of hit beautiful songs and died suddenly in an helicopter accident in 1986. All French people cried for him, and they still cry... That's why I thank Dimash for his crazy performance but mainly make Daniel Balavoine known across the world and his relationship with Lara Fabian.... He doesn't really speak French but tries to and works with the best, on the best covers. Thanks for your reaction and love from France 🇫🇷😘
