Was privileged enough to meet Roy at the pub a few times as an adult in tsv qld. Also faced him in the nets as a 13 y.o at an Ian heavy academy before he was well known. I was wearing a Brisbane broncos hat signed by Gordon tallis, one of the greatest forwards to ever play nrl. Roy recognises the signature and I was stuck with the nickname "gordy " for duration of camp.. and my cricket career... an absolutely amazing bloke.

I was at this match. Sri Lanka were right on top, but at 0:43 Ponting's great shot changed the whole tone of the match and he and Symonds dominated from then on.

5:43 That moment when Ponting must have felt vindicated for his offer to all other captains, who refused it. They made their bed so they can lay in it. Ponting had a perfect view of it bouncing before it was held. Ponting superb. He so often played beautifully in Sydney. Great place to watch cricket. Playing more a test match innings when 13-3, then settled into ODI mode. Symonds was awesome. Great knocks.

5:45 to Pontings catch/drop catch. I put the speed on the slowest and each instance I think the ball bounces just b4 the fielders hands. @ 6:24 the fielder's eyes are not down, their angled down the ground and the ball bounces b4 it goes into their hands. 6:38 view from the front Can't tell. Could be either. What do you think?

Not one of Tony Greig's best commentary moments with the Jayawardene "catch". Ponting stayed because it clearly half volleyed to Jaya's hands. Richie Benaud's pause during the replay spoke volumes. Tony had a weird obsession with pleasing Sub-Continental fans.

I suppose when it's uncertain the doubt goes with the batsman. My initial reaction was it was caught. I'm one for going on the umpire's decision though so I have no problem with Ponting standing his ground.

You clearly don't remember the sequence of events in relation to asking the fielders word on whether it bounced. All the other captains said no hence why he didn't ask the fielder. And the 2nd problem with your incorrect comment is that it clearly bounced.
