Thank you for a thorough, very helpful review. It is the most used club in your bag. It can save or waste several shots a round. If you are putting well it gives you confidence which can help with your other shots.

I still use my Ping Anser 4 from 1988. Apart from a strip of lead tape and a few new grips, it’s still the same old trusty. I did notice the new golf ball feels hard compared to the balata but I got used to it over the years. I will chamge for a new Anser 4 when Ping release a nice one, not a fan of the latest black and red colour 👍

Great video!! I have putted well (and terrible) with many different styles of putters. I think the player adapts to the club as much as you can fit the club to the player! If you hit a few putts with various styles of putters you can quickly determine which works best for you. The one that sinks the most putts wins!

The chart is extremely helpful. So the way I read that is the plumbers neck is a slight arc stroke. Then the flow neck or slant neck is actually in between slight and straight back?

Value for money per shot your putter is way out in front. A 250 yard drive and a 3 foot putt count the same so make sure it's only 1 putt therefor "proper" fitting is so important.

Completely agree Edwin. Thanks for watching.

My Ping Sigma 2 Valor putter cost me AUD350. I yelped a bit but it was impossible to disagree with my Pro when he pointed out that, on a par 72 course, 50% of my shots would be putts whereas a AUD1000 driver would be used perhaps a dozen times or 16%. End of argument! I'd also throw into the mix, length of shaft.

There's a difference between cost and value. Value is in the eye of the beholder. Cost goes up for things like material selection and processing of the putter which doesn't affect performance. Putters don't need to be milled from solid from a single block as long as the face is relatively flat, for instance, which would knock 100s from the price. Kudos to the big manufacturers for still getting people to think the more luxurious clubs will somehow fix their bad strokes and every 2 years they need a new one 😂

Great video Andrew. I would be interested in a video by you on putting. I’m an ok putter but have a tendency to leave putts short which can cost me a few shots per round. Is that a technique or mindset thing? Any tips much appreciated.

@@andrewainsworth497 great. look forward to that. also a chipping lesson - i overthink my chips and put too much pressure on them only to duff them or not hit them hard enough. almost like im too scared to hit the chips hard. which is strange as my iron and driving are very consistant. playing off 9.
