Notice how most of the lulz they have when listening to Andrew's, Dave's and Roomie's tracks come from the timbre of the sounds chosen. That's exactly why Rob's track sounds so amazing - everyone else was busy picking samples and tweaking synth settings on their DAWs, and the effects are hilarious. Rob just fired up Guitar Pro, picked generic metal presets for all the tracks and just focused on writing the tabs. He was essentially just composing, while everyone else was also producing. It's a big difference. That's not meant to disrespect Rob's composition skills, which are obviously insane. In fact, all four of you did a great job for what it was. But I think it's worth noting why Rob is so different to everyone else.

Even though they had a piano for reference there were no way they could play all the melodies and chords from every instruments at once. Besides that, the sound of a violin , a flute or a tuba is very different from the sound of a piano. And what about the percussion instruments? There is no way they could play the "notes" of those instruments with the piano.

I wonder how a slight alternative to this challenge would go. 10 minutes to listen and gather samples without any editing, then 50 minutes to compose something without listening.

Андрей Лукинов I mean that would be really hard, cause they would have to come up with lyrics and a catchy song, 50 mins is good.

I just watched 4 dorky grown men make music that sounds like the stuff my music teacher trys to get the students at school to make, react to it, and then smush themselves on to a small couch whale silently fight over how much leg space they have. 10/10 gud video

Except Beethoven wrote on an actual piano, therefore he could feel the music
@havuraivio48326 жыл бұрын
Trevor Bowman yeah he had this metal pole in his mouth (connected to the piano) so the sound would resonate through his teeth in to his body and inner ears
@jt21976 жыл бұрын
Havu Raivio No, he is right, when you play the piano or any other instrument you can feel the vibration it generates while generating sound.

Now, Jaiden/James/Rebecca/idksomeyoutubeanimator painting art without seeing it! hear me out; artists do digital art, but on top of the drawing they have a layer that is covered in a white, so they can't see what they're drawing, but they can see *where* they're drawing. pretty much the same sort of challenge as this video.

Well yes and no. Beethoven was fully deaf when he wrote Symphony No. 9, everything up until that point he could hear but a bit, he was gradually going deaf. Yes I do agree with you that it was an amazing skill but he was also a musician from a young age, giving him enough time to learn the exact sound of every note to the point he could compose without hearing.
@RobCartwright6 жыл бұрын
Beethoven was also so proficient in theory that he could "hear" all the music he was writing in his head.
