Not the only time the show made a Hercules reference. Seamus described Captain Hunt to the rest of Eureka Maru crew, He's huge, like some sort of Greek god. I went, Ha, Ha.

lol loved Hercules and love Andromeda, also love the reference in the pilot from Harper 'he's like a greek god'

Considering how good he was in those two roles, I feel it's really unfortunate how Sorbo seemingly turned to fundamentalist Christianity following the cancellation of "Andromeda" and has since degenerated into a bigoted a**hole who can't find work outside of low-grade made-for-television productions and Christian propaganda films such as "God's Not Dead". (That's assuming that he wasn't already a fundie to begin with.)

I felt the same about Chuck Norris after it turned out he's a Conservative nutjob thinking the US government was going to invade Texas.
@Scifimaster927 жыл бұрын
Actually, I looked up Sorbo's Wikipedia entry and it turns out he's literally brain damaged. While filming "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" in 1997, the actor suffered multiple strokes that halted production and left him physically weakened for several years. It's possible that this may have had the effect of changing his personality, causing him to become obsessively religious to the point of insanity. If that's the case, he clearly belongs in a psychiatric institution.

I just watched the episode where they rescue the Clarion's Call avatar, Ryan, played by Michael Hurst. He told Dylan that they had to go to Tartarus and Dylan says "Deja Vu."

I preferred the more obvious reference when the guy that played Hercules buddy Iolas guested as a ships AI who had escaped the Tartarus star system that many other Highguard ships were imprisoned in and he and Hunt were going to get them out and one said something along the lines of " Storming into Tartarus to rescue our comrades. Something about that seems very familiar..."

The easter egg references in the series are rather fun. Starts off with the whole comment in episode about he's built like a Greek god, and then scenes like this, storming into Tartarus, Andromeda itself is from Greek Mythology (and Sarah Michelle Geller played Adromeda in Hercules as a side note .. man these all tie together), and more. Andromeda was almost like Hercules in space sometimes lol. but I loved it of I did.

I often thought Dylan Hunt was some kind of "Hercules in Space". Kevin Sorbo wasn't the typical muscle-bound hero in the "Hercules"role. Although he was super strong, he almost always chose peace. And Dylan Hunt didn't have the disadvantage of being descended from a god and therefore the enemy of other gods.

They did that with Star Trek Enterprise. In the last episode, when the bad guys were defeated and the Federation formed, someone did an edit where Archer 'Leaps' out. If they had holodecks in Andromeda, it would have been amusing for the cast to catch him playing in an old episode of Hercules...

Too bad they couldn't have made a slight Hercules-theme musical queue there. :D It is actually very odd to have it referenced so blatantly within the confines of the story like that. Most easter eggs and nods to other franchises are usually subtle and non-intruding into the story; a throw-away line here or a prop in the background there. You'd expect, if it is focused on, it would be something that needs an explanation later on, but here it is taking up this much focus with Sorbo emoting to it, but leaves with no follow through. It is a nice nod, but a little jarring. Also.. since when did Hercules use a sword? If I remember correctly, he didn't like weapons and just beat people up with his bare hands or... you know, tossed an Iolaus at them or something.
@dustygrant30433 жыл бұрын

It's possible Hercules is still "hunting" for freedom and justice in the future!!!!!!!!! I mean he's STILL around in the 20th and 21st centurys!!!!!!!!!! According to myth i don't think Hercules ever really died!!!!!!!!! And Dylan's past is never really explained and explored i don't remember much about his passed only that he came from a heavy gravity world and he once had a girl friend/fiancee!!!!!!!! If there's more people please tell me!!!!!!! I've given this alot of thought since i FIRST saw that sword and wig (or maybe IT'S the tailpeace of a centaur or a certain golden hind that Hercules was married TOO!!!!!!!!!!
