General Foods sponsored Andy's program during its entire CBS run (1960-'68). He was still appearing in "integrated" commercials for their various products right up to the end of the series.

It was also the sole sponsor for the entire run w/ Ford getting an on screen credit mention for supplying the vehicles. Other Danny Thomas shows w/ GF as a sole sponsor were his shows' 7 season run on CBS and the first few seasons of Gomer Pyle USMC ( which you are well aware).

General Foods sponsored all seasons of "GOMER PYLE USMC" and "THE DANNY THOMAS SHOW" on CBS {including the 1965 repeats of Danny's program, replacing "MANY HAPPY RETURNS" from April through September}.

Thank you for uploading memories of long ago. I distinctly remember General Foods sponsoring The Andy Griffith Show with all the products from that company being advertised, like Sanka, Post cereals, and so on. It was just like yesterday watching those commercials, which were incorporated into each episode.

When commercials where truly appreciated as you could not just fast forward through them and always tide into the whatever the show you where watching.

General Foods, longtime sponsor of Andy's show, went out of business after it was bought by Kraft, which in turn merged with Heinz.

These are cool, in how Ellie makes several appearances, plus how Andy breaks the fourth wall so often before he turns toward the camera. Ahead of their time!!

My FAVORITE cereal when I was little was Post Rice Krinkles! But I noticed they disappeared about the same time as Post came out with Fruity and Cocoa Pebbles,with the popularity of the Pebbles And Bam-Bam Show (another conspiracy theory lol)

Not a coincidence . Rice Krinkles were reformulated to become Pebbles cereal . Post (then a division of General Foods ) decided to pull RK from distribution due to declining sales (1969). After test marketing in select areas the brand went nationwide in 1971 (Pebbles & Bamm- Bamm debuted in September of '71). Now some 50 years later it's still one of Post's (now an independent company) better selling cereals. Alan Reed ( Fred) and Mel Blanc ( Barney) also provided the voices intially for the commercials. It was also the first cereal based on a media character.

I had Rice Krinkles as late as 1975, and they were in Post's assortments as late as '73.

Now those baseball card cutouts that were in back of cereal boxes are worth a little money today. Back then kids didn't collect with the intent to make money off them down the road. A time when collecting was for fun, and less profit oriented. I'd love to have a few of those uncut boxes today for display.
