Only part way thru. And the guy has the alcohol under control. He isn't actually drunk just slurring and remember he has a 'Scandinavian' English accent so it rasps naturally. The insights on here are still crystal clear. Abso spot on about inferior compilation fodder like poison. Hanoi are punk classic rock alternative rock. Pure hair metal is trash.. i.e.just for hairdressers and silly highschool bobbysoxers. Not art at all. Anything andy is involved with is artrock. Other feeble pubrock stuff he has dismissed in other interviews eg motley crue is recognisably not in hanoi's class. Those aren't creative acts. And he had it spot on elsewhere- they have one halfway decent song 'girls girls girls' and can u really say it's worth bothering about. They will be remembered as a metal compi act too and as the band that killed Razzle. Feel the force with andy.. the spirit shines through. One listens spellbound for the memories here. That is the power of the man. Great interviewer taking an interest in pelle miljoona too and i am so glad that andy recognizes it was a great decision to join them. Pity she didn't cite Briard who preceded Pelle and were equally brilliant. If u add up all his acts the punk side emphasizes the rock n roll heart of the man. Hanoi all members freely admit are really a punk act with longer hair just like the stooges the voidoids television the heartbreakers or the dolls mc5 and the patti smith group were crossover and in some cases foundling punks. Oh and as this wonderful interviewer also astutely mentions Andy was IN the actual Iggy Pop band. The godfather of punk still 'my friend' as Andy proudly boasts. Exciting inventive and not a colossal dinosaur and not some old guitar soloing old fart that bores. Btw g'n'r who he acknowledges were inspired by him are of course easily labelled a punk act in their day as well. Hair length means nothing. He is a punk thru and thru. The songs and the guitar displays are economic urgent and relevant. True to the spirit of elvis and the african american blues giants who kicked it all off. And talking of tradition, building on tradition is arguably the greatest solo album by a singer songwriter ever.. better than all hairdresser albums combined.

I personally found Hanoi Rocks , Aerosmith/Japan/ N.Y. Dolls wannabees. The name already....a reference to Johnny Thunders 'Chinese Rocks', as if smack was so glamorous. It was also an insult to North Vietnam , which was bombed into the stone age and had nothing to do with opium trade. Andy was an original though. The 90's were his best period.
