I feel like Matt Reeves is going toward the correct direction. You can tell he really cares about his characters and isn’t just casting anyone. You’re saying “how much darker can he get,” but I don’t think he was dark enough. To be honest, I don’t think we ever really got the dark side of Batman in all his movies. It was all mostly action. I never felt like I knew who the Batman was on a deeper level. That’s why Heath Ledger’s joker was such a hit. The Joker would constantly give us small throwbacks. I think I felt more connected with the Joker than the Batman in “The Dark Knight.” There was something so relatable about The joker, and I found myself rooting for him at times.

The Keaton movies are more campy than anything, they just have a thin layer of darkness over them and their aesthetic, in typical Burton fashion

@The Batman All older films especially superhero comic book movies seem “Campy” due to directional styles and lack of CGI and technological special effects. However, at the time both Burton Batman films stand the test of time and have a unique cinematic and visual appeal to audiences along with undertones of film noir. Nolan’s Batman films combined superb acting, screenwriting and visual effects and even set the future stage for MCEU. The majority of Critics appreciated Burtons Batman universe and dialogue driven storyline. Many older Batman fans hold Burtons Batman movies in high regard even to this day I would strongly disagree with your flawed opinion.

Michael Stone Nah, they definitely are campy, and it’s not due to directional style and lack of cgi, they’re just campy. Bruce Wayne literally hangs upside down when he sleeps in Batman, you know, like a bat. Not to mention the “let’s get nuts!” Scene, or the fact that Joker walks into an art museum with a boom box that’s blaring Prince, while wearing a beret, and defaces all of the artwork while dancing. And Batman Returns is even more ridiculous, with Catwoman falling multiple stories out of a building, and then being licked back to life by cats, and the Penguin riding a giant rubber duck in the sewers while commanding an army of penguins, which I’m pretty sure he straps bombs to, or something goofy like that. There’s no denying that they’re campy, but I wasn’t trying to say that they’re garbage either. Nicholson’s performance was fantastic, the depiction and aesthetic of Gotham was probably the best ever put to film, they made superheros a lot more popular among the general public, they directly led to Batman the animated series, and they’re just good fun movies, but they still aren’t really dark and gritty at all, other than aesthetically. The Revenant, Taxi Driver, Silence if the Lambs, Joker, Twelve Years a Slave, Apocalypse Now, and The Departed, THESE are dark films, which brings me to my next point, which is that in no way did ALL older films feel campy, you might want to go back and watch Taxi Driver, Apocalypse Now, Chinatown, Full Metal Jacket, Good Fellas, The God Father, and so many others that in no way feel campy, and wouldn’t have even benefited from CGI. And finally, I have absolutely no idea where your comment on the Nolan films came from as I said nothing about them previously, and the Dark Knight is one of my favorite films of all time, so...

Feels like Keaton’s Batman mixed with Christian Bale’s. Also a bit of the Telltale Series in there. Not sure about his portrayal as Bruce though. Not digging the emo look. Bruce consciously acts like a playboy trust fund kid with semi serious political affairs. It’s so he’s NOT suspected.

2cents Matt Reeves is the director, and he wrote the script... But regardless I don’t know why everyone’s whining about it “going woke”, just because some of the cast is black? (And one of those cast members is playing a character who’s already been black multiple times in the past). This isn’t going to be “woke”; it’s been described as a dark and beautiful personal journey that’s told solely on Batman’s shoulders, and it’s going to be a gritty neo-noir detective story. Yes Pattinson isn’t big (like at all), but that’s because of his own unwillingness, and not because they’re trying to make a weak and lame Batman.

Christian Tompkins they deviate strongly from the source material, tries too hard to be realistic, has wannabe thought provoking dialogue that is nonsensical if you think about for longer than a second and is overall not a joyful experience if you are wanting to see a Batman-movie. So from a comic-book-movie perspective it fails in every aspect. It makes no attempt to recreate the gothic surroundings of Gotham and is too caught up in being a crime drama that just happens to have a guy in a costume as it's protagonist.

Here's a list of all the actors that were the "worst choice" Michael Keaton Christian bale Ben affleck (people that didn't like him liked him at the end but not everywone did) Hugh Jackman for wolverine Robert D Junior for iron man Joaquin phoenix too was critizied because of his makeup And finally heath ledger witch was critizied exactly like Pattinson today He played in a shitty movie (like 100% of all actors) He "dosen't look like the character" He dosen't have charisma And people called him gay joker just like people like you call Pattinson gay Batman or sparkly vampire. But Pattinson is a amazing actor, yes twilight was horrible but Pattinson is more than the vampire. Honestly he is in my top 3 favorite understands actors and one of the best actors of his generation working today. The dude knows how to act. He is dedicated to his roles and Batman is no exception. He has experience with broken sad characters witch is perfect for Batman. Hey even nolan casted him in his next movie tenet ! If you don't belive me use this quarantine to watch his movies My personal favorites are Good Time and The Lighthouse, but watch is others movies too. Robert Pattinson will not be a Batman He will be The Batman !!! Plus matt reeves is directing the guy is a true Batman fan, he knows comics like Ego and Dark Victory, who knows that ? Guys that knows and cares about Batman, he casted Pattinson for a reson and I trust him.
