I can't recall hearing a better teaching of bluegrass GOLD!!! This man, Andy Wood, is head-and-shoulders above anyone I know of teaching this style of music. Many thanks to a gifted and dedicated teacher. I hope KZbin gives him every credit, every recognition, and yes, every DOLLAR he's earning with his channel.

I just watch this video, and I am super impressed. You clearly have a tremendous amount of skill, but even more than that you are a great teacher. I am a pretty advanced player, but still have never delve deep into bluegrass. You definitely gave me enough to chew on and didn’t make me feel like I was left there while doing it.

Interesting d45. They normally have the large hexagonal inlays on the fingerboard. Your grandpa is proud I’m sure. I love pearl top martins. I have several guitars, but seem to always pull out my D41. Yours has great tone for sure! Great lesson, great picking.

what billy was thinking was in the song. that drugs are bad. "had i listen to my mom and poppa said i wouldn't be locked up in prison troubled in the head" point of the song is don't do drugs and listen to your parents and don't smoke meth and go to jail, I don't know seems like an okay premis to me lol. Video is great tho been playing guitar since i was 7 im now 35 and you can play. New Subscriber.

I must say, since from 17 to 41 now, I wish I'd of never bothered with tab, its like paint by number music, the first pentatonic shape we all learn staggered me for years, got no where playing got worse, could learn the songs I wanted to play, till I learnt intervals and thought, is that all? After all these years, is that it? - thanks rick beato, then I just love the speed of bluegrass and dadgad tunings, celtic music, proper led zep 4 gear, music abar swords n rings, - could never play them, so andy and troy grady lead me to right hand technique, and wow, realised my right hand and especially downward picking and the whole pick slant thing was way out, in literally abar six months I couldn't believe I was getting bluegrass locks down, like 70%, but each week that bit closer, then ye go back to your old records and it blows ye mind how easy they are with a lighter string set, because of the lessons of right hand technique, andy and troy grady and beato I thank you so much, done more in 6 months than 20 years

It’s about meth. Song reads “methamphetamine has got a damn good hold of me…”. Billy had a rough childhood with parents addicted to drugs and got into using meth himself, but managed to get himself clean and out of the drug scene.
