As a fan of Dorn and Fulgrim this is a tough one to say but Perturabo really does show up fantastically here, even if Fulgrim is still very much in his element in the bigger picture. I wonder if Perturabo was admiring more than just the technical marvel that Vulkan had achieved. When Fulgrim talks about 'making guns and swords', Perturabo seems annoyed that Fulgrim doesn't understand that Vulkans love was for more than just weapons of war, or even the process of creation that is involved in the forging of anything, but the end result. The art. The expression. Something Perturabo lacked, because he never believed anyone wanted it from him. Because he forgot that things like that can be for yourself as much as it can be for others. It's almost symbolic that in the end, he uses the miniature as a weapon to slam Fulgrim into. Perturabo had always sacrificed self-expression in favour of using his skills for war, and nothing showcases that more perfectly than using something that he admired for it's technical marvel and expression as a weapon, breaking it in the process. Much like Perturabo did to himself, eventually.

He appreciated a couple of his brothers, mainly Vulkan Ferrus and Magnus. The first two for their skill and love of artifice, and Magnus for being a massive nerd. His 'tism and inferiority complex just prevented him from expressing it a way his brothers could have seen it

Its insane to me that primarchs can just shake off a beating like this a be all alright in a short amount of time. Fulgrim took a beating from the avatar of Khaine and in a week or two he was all almost healed.

I want to like Perturabo, he has alot going for him but i hated him in angel exterminatus. its a good book but i just cant root for someone who gets played like a fiddle. The entire time he thinks he is incharge. Fulgrim dangles the most obvious bait infront of him and he just gobbles it up without question.

Please note before you hype Perturabo and talk shit about Fulgrim here... Fulgrim has Perturabo exactly where he wants him. The trap has already sprung and Perturabo is being devoured in that very moment.

Ferrus was closest to Fulgrim in terms of brothers. If I remember correctly, Fulgrim used a moment of hesitation from Ferrus to cut off his head since he knew Ferrus didn't want to kill his favorite brother.
