Angel Wings are possibly the lightest and crispest sweet you could snack on! one is never enough. Similar to the Goan phinori (or phenori/fenori), these Angel wings are only rolled out differently, but yet, that leads to a significant change in the overall lightness of the crunchy sweet. Since the sugar is dusted over at the end, you're in complete control of how you want it to taste and how rich you want it to be. I recommend just a light coat of powdered sugar, since too much makes the angel wings seem too heavy on the palate, making you feel satiated quicker.

1 US Cup = 240 ml
Ingredients:
For the dough:
2 cups or 240 grams All-purpose flour (Maida)
1/4 teaspoon Salt
Water as needed
For the paste:
2 Tablespoons (heaped) Cornstarch
2 Tablespoons Salted Butter (softened)
Flour for dusting
Oil for deep-frying
Powdered Sugar (approximately 2-3 Tablespoons; depends on preference for sweetness)

Amazing Recipe❤️ In Maharashtra we call it Chirote and some people dip it in sugar syrup and then dry them and again sprinkle some powdered sugar. It is a special Diwali sweet. Brings back so many memories with mom and grandma making them! 😀

This recipe brings back many memories of Xmas sweet making, Florency! Angel Wings was always one of them. Your recipe is just the same as my Mum would do, she had them made three layers. They are a treat!

This is a traditional Indian mithai/sweetmeat. Made all across India during festivals and special occasions. Chirote, Khaja, Gauja... one dish with multiple identities. The only difference is that we dip these in a two thread consistency sugar syrup and then leave them to dry till it forms a dryish crust on top. So moreish!

Amazing! We have something very similar in Bangladesh, just instead of dusting the snacks with sugar, here they are dipped in a thick sugar syrup. So yummy

@hehehe woaah really? We call it 'goja' in Bangladesh xD and I'm not completely sure about the making process here since i always bought it to eat but i don't think butter+cornstarch is used here either, probably flour/besan/oil/ghee

Very good recipe, to make it savoury crushed roasted cumin can be added. They're nice and flaky, excellent 👌, next on my to do list.
