Quincy Jones invited 12 yo Angelina to open his 85th Birthday Concert at the 02 Arena in London, singing Fly Me To the Moon using the arrangement he wrote of Frank Sinatra. I believe this was a backstage meeting at that concert.

She says that meeting him and what he told her are among her most cherished memories. There are still a few tickets available for her concert at the Alex theatre in LA this Friday, the 20th. Many say she sounds better live than in studio recordings. Mabye you could take your dad?

For this video, the important thing to know about Quincy Jones is that he started producing music during the jazz era, and he produced some of the greatest jazz singers, including Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald. The fact that he is so impressed by Angelina is a very high compliment.

Her fearlessness as you intimate is astonishing: I believe she once indicated she doesn't even understand nervousness.... at least nervousness about singing (though she was nervous before going on a big dipper at a theme park... there is a video showing this where her Uncle Michael puts his arms around her and says "I can feel her heart beating..!" :) )

As far as I know, Quincy is still with us, now 91, but I don't know anything about his health state. This alien thing is a very common second guess, right behind the time traveler/reincarnation thing. 😉
