Boundy, After following Angelina for some time, her voice has matured like fine wine. I have a question about Republic Records: Will her records be played on the radio? Here in Las Vegas, there is one Jazz Station on the campus of UNLV that also plays contemporary music. I have called every week and I request a cut from "I'm Old Enough" and the station management replied, "They have to hear from Republic Records or Angelina Jordan represented." I was about to say this. Granted, it’s been decades since I was involved in broadcast radio, but back then we paid an annual fee to ASCAP/BMI to cover royalties for all music we played.

I’ve been following a website that tracks airplay. Over the past year as many as 18 of Angelina’s songs have been on the air on as many as about 85 stations across as many as 25 or more countries over a week’s period. Not crazy numbers but some airplay. By far the most popular song has been Love Don’t Let Me Go which is currently getting over 300 spins a week and at peak was getting over 500. Currently over 70 a week in the UK. It seemed to be very popular in Turkey a while back. Very little airplay of any of her songs in the US however One US online jazz station has played LDLMG as much as 8 times per week. An occasional I Put a Spell On You or Fly Me To the Moon shows up. Looks like the US market is going to be tough to crack. She needs some TV exposure. People that saw her on AGT may have forgotten her by now because she hasn’t really been visible since on a national scale.

Supposedly her deal with Republic gives her creative freedom. That was one of the important factors in the contract she signed and with whom she signed with. Let’s hope there aren’t any issues with Republic. It seems that she is more of an independent artists or else Republic probably would have insisted on an album or two already.

But in your case, people need your know-how of the industry/production value, etc. that enlighten us so much ☺ Everything about Angelina's vocals, the video, the production, editing etc. is outstanding, though I confess this is not a favourite song of mine. But I agree this is a huge step for Angelina, teaming up with Toby. And in that sense, what you have to react to is their co-written, not officially released song "Bad Valentine". She said that Sony Publishing Company organized herself and Toby Gad to work together. She obviously knew who Toby was already before but didn't know him personally. Now they have begun to write also original material together. "Bad Valentine" was played live in LA and it was absolutely magnificient in my opinion (great blues vibe there). That song and maybe some other songs will be released in September. Toby said they already have written a bunch of songs together.

This should have a million views. This means our baby has grown up and all of us supporters will sink into the masses. Yes, I feel it like you. The sound is full. The production is excellent. Looks like Toby is that last piece to move our girl forward. I treasure all the obscure videos of her as a young girl. The guitar only accompaniment. Trouncing the originals. I'm very happy to say that I called this one! I noted in another reaction that I was 99% sure that it was the same vocal track with different instrumentation and mixing. And I'm not even musically talented, just someone who has loved listening to music my entire life (I'm 66 now). Speaking strictly for myself, I prefer the acoustic version, and NO I don't hate the more contemporary pop/indie styling of this version. I can absolutely see where this video, and this mix would speak much more to the younger generations. I agree with you Bouda, that it's not about what we want, it's about what she and her family want, and are mapping out for her coming future success, and building a platform for Angelina to use that has lasting impact musically, giving her a legacy of doing exactly what she wants: to spread love and light and understanding among all of us on this little blue ball. Now it’s up to the music industry to recognize her abilities and her genius. Will they do that? I don’t know. They haven’t so far . Her low register ability is beyond that of any other female singer, and when you combine it with the power and running up the scale she does, the fullness of her presentation is mesmerizing to anyone listening. Hey Boudy as I said in a comment to another reaction. I have some new thoughts on this. The more I look at this team the more excited I get. I like many had no idea who Toby Gad is. I learned about him after her first performance with him. Another Powerhouse Writer Producer who has worked with only the best of the Industry past and present. Diane Warren another legend visited with Angelina but little came of it. This is very different than that. Angelina and Toby have declared they are working on original material together that they hinted would be available this fall. We are all of course hoping is the long awaited Album. Some predictions in the past have failed to materialize as predicted. Let's hope this is not the same. And I've been thinking about the timing which would be brilliant. Many have mentioned a release in September would be to late to qualify for this years Grammys. What if that is the plan. We already have two Grammy worthy releases with 'If I Were a Boy' and 'Bad Valentine out right now which will be eligible this year. Produced and performed by two powerhouse singer/songwriters/producers in Angelina and Toby. All of the songs on the album would be eligible for the following year's Grammys. At least in this scenario. If one or both songs win a Grammy think about the runway that would have for a Full year and from the very same powerhouse duo. Having already won they will both be well known by then having already won the grammy(s). All of those new songs from tha new album will be eligible for those Grammys. They will be knocking on the door of the industry. Banging actually! I don't think she can be ignored anymore! Great reaction to a Beautiful song. 😉♥👣 One further thought. Hopefully the album is going to be more of the same or similar production. See their close contact with some Angels already,, Steve with Sara (and Angelina?!), Chris Walker, the Brazil guy with this great tattoo, (and more I'm sure). I believe she will not discard that when she gets bigger. I think she early on learned to take time for humanizing, being with her family, staying grounded, humble, focused on the true values. And that will always be also the close connection to her Angels. ... I see Angel conventions some day. With podium talks but also with round tables and just gathering around with the Astars. There has to be some moment of current new Angelina moving forward in her own way. We get to hold on to her development days online with great nostalgia but we can't hold her to the cover days too much. That's gonna be hard for longtime fans. When she hits the high note in this it sounds like she's blowing out the proximity effect and the capsule is overblown. Is she using a dynamic mic and we're used to that Neumann condenser mic.

I have a feeling it will be a whole album with Gad in September and not just the completion of her EP. Don't jump to what her sound is until you hear Bad Valentine.

Not sure if she is working on a complete album with Toby. Maybe just be a few songs. She possibly has a complete album ready. Last Match she said her album was ready however instead an EP was released. In about September she said her album was coming out very soon followed by a tour. None of that happened so we really don’t know what’s coming going on behind the scenes. Was her album delayed? Was it shelved? Is she adding to it? Everything is speculation at this point. All we know is that in an interview last week when asked what’s coming up that she can talk about she said some releases in September. What that will be we don’t know. It could also mean something coming sooner that she can’t talk about

I didn’t seem like she meant a Christmas EP because she was talking about the album being all originals. A month or so later she mentioned a Christmas EP. Shortly after Old Enough was released there were rumors about the full album coming out later in the year. That was probably just speculation but I do remember her mentioning in a live around late August or September about an album and tour. She and Juliette were talking about the places she would go. Wish I could find that chat and refresh my memory on what she actually said.

Nice reaction Boudy! This version is a much more commercial sounding song than the Piano Diaries Version. The instrumentation is very different but the song stills sounds great! Very interesting that this was directed and produced by Toby Gad! This song is made to be played on the radio. Nice that you called out and by your own man! LOL I asked Toby what song of Angelina convinced him to want to work with her? He replied back to me, "I saw the Got Talent performance and knew I had to work with her." I'm assuming he meant her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody. BREAKING NEWS! I just want to address thaat feeling of sadness you talked about. It's really about letting go,, the idea that this child whosehand you held all this time - metaphorically speaking - is going to go out there on her own. This is our daughter, our little sister, going out there to conquer the musical world. It's hard to let go. But what I take away is how much we've grown along with her, in our knowledge of music, the rediscovery of a certain kind of happiness that untl now you only remembered vaguely. She reinvented our experience of the songs for us. When I watch you sharing your knowledge, I see you reliving an experience, and discovering something new yourself about the things you say. I agree that I would prefer that she perform her own material and she has been writing and performing her own material for some time. First of all, how many legendary singers have only written and performed their songs? Secondly, the dozen or so songs she has written and performed are much deeper and thought provoking than the drivel heard from contemporary popular music. Finally, she is 18 years old. There is no rush by her to be acknowledged by the masses as a powerhouse in the music industry. Those in the industry already know it’s only a matter of time before everyone knows who she is. Like her songs, Angelina has no desire to rush into stardom. Her humble approach while striving for perfection has worked well and will continue to do so in the decades ahead of her.

Boudy, your reactions are more akin to responses which are thoughtful and considered. It is probably a human proclivity to want to prioritise and assert that one song or version of a song is better than another or that Angelina should pursue one style or genre over another. Of her many great attributes, one is that she has been, is and, I believe, will always be an experimenter. To try to hold her to one path is to hold her against her creativity. If you doubt this, listen to “Bad Valentine” which is then another way for her to express herself. Whenever I critiqued student artwork or approached the work of an established artist the first question I would ask is what are THEY attempting to convey and not what do I wish to see. Peace
