This was the 3rd time she sang this song that day. She sang it for a sound check first, then for the concert she sang it on a small stage in the middle of the crowd, but it was so windy there was a technical problem with the sound, so they asked her to sing it again on the main stage where there was some protection from the wind. She had 2 minutes to catch her breath before she sang this version. That was quite a feat, but no problem for Angelina.

Angelina was 16 years old here and this was her first time back on stage in over 2 years, since she performed on America's Got Talent The Champions. This performance is at a venue in Norway where she had performed a few times before. Many artists perform at this annual concert so Angelina only sang this song and "Bohemian Rhapsody". Angelina gave 3 full concerts in Norway following this and at her final concert, she dedicated this song to her grandmother Mery who had been battling health issues and didn't join the family on their trip to Norway. Mery means the world to Angelina, so we angels get very emotional when we listen to Angelina singing this song.

What I really liked about your analysis is that you picked up all the special techniques that Angelina added. For example, you referred to the “moans” which really conveyed a ton of emotion. And you noticed the Angelina unique riffs at the end of phrases. I always look forward to your work.

Thanks for this reactions and insightful analysis! :-) Angelina was 16 here. She sang at 'Allsang pa grensen' which means Singalong (all sing) at the borders. It is at the borders of Norway and Sweden. The audience is given the lyrics and it encouraged to sing along During the summer concerts she dedicated the song to her absent and recovery grandmother. It gives the song an extra dimension :-)

Jen - I can't find anywhere that you've ever reacted to the American songstress Eva Cassidy. I firmly believe that if you were to listed/watch some of her videos (Over the Rainbow, Stormy Monday, Time After Time to start), you would quickly come to the same conclusion that so many thousands have - Eva was truly, truly gifted. Died way too young at 33 (cancer), but she and her music live on thanks to a few individuals who refused to let her memory fade.

Thank you so much Jenn for getting back to Angelina ! This was her concert tour back in her homeland of Norway last summer after the pandemic and she got to sing at the same concert venue as a child many years ago ! Third consequence take of this song for TV due to weather and technical problems and she nailed it magnificently ! She is a natural stage performer and such a professional at 16 ! I'm sure Whitney would be proud of AJ 's performance As you can see the wind played havoc on her hair but she looked like a fairy tale princess in that beautiful blue gown ! The feathers were a nice touch as I only noticed now after you mentioned it and I watched this at least 20 times ! Ughh woman can pick out every little thing ! I agree singing live can be so tricky with the sound and timing of the live band behind her ! She always has the best musicians with her and they were spot on ! Your vocal analysis and breakdown as always was accurate and informative ! I can see that you truly loved her rendition and performance ! Angelina and Republic Records are currently working on her first album to be released this year and I'm so excited to see what's in store for us ! This video is from the 2nd concert she held last summer. July 1st 2022 in Allsang Pa Grensen, Norway. On july 7th she was in kongsberg and I was there. She was born in Oslo on january 10th 2006. You can work out the math. She modifies the shapes of the vowels and anything else in the phrasing and melody lines that she deems necessary to give us the true meaning of the lyrics. She doesn't just sing a song. She tells you a story. Beside all her numberless talents, what really hits my heart and soul is her " story telling" quality. She's a "STORY TELLER". That's why I think( humble, personal opinion) She's the Greatest of'em all.❤️‍🔥💝

June 22, 2022, Jazz Festival, Allsang pa Grensen, Norway, next to Swedish border. “I Have Nothing” Her arrangement. TV2, had Huge technical difficulties. They contracted to record the televised version Live, which meant that Angelina had to sing this song twice . . . back-to-back! 1:45 apart. Do you have any idea what this did to her voice? To any singer! A difficult song to begin with! She had not been on stage in almost 3 years because, of Covid. Such a professional.🌸

About the hair...Angelina has always had a mannerism where she brushes back a tuft of hair with her right hand. She did it at the age of 7 during her NGT audition and almost every other performance indoors or out.

In that performance she dedicated it to her Grandmother and she put a whole new spin of the lyrics that left me weak in the knees and teary eyed. Her voice is so mature for a 16 year old. I think she's learning a performance lesson not to wear her hair loose while singing outside. Feathers can be a problem too if they are too close to the face. I've done a few performances outside and it is tough! It's hard to hear yourself so you strain to sing louder. The worst is when wearing a bonnet for costume purposes! Ugh! She is a wonderful singer. I think she has a great career ahead of her.

The first time I heard Angelina Jordan she was much younger and was(attempting)to do an Etta James cover. For the first time in ages, I actually saw red and threw off my headphones so hard they broke. I decided today to give listening to her another try, since I know I can trust you to give an honest(and detailed) analysis and I wanted to hear what she's like today(andnot a couple of years ago). I found this to be a much more pleasant experience than the first time; she has really improved in technique/tone/diction etc. I think you used the proper term when you talked about her "progression". She's definitely done that. I think she has a great future ahead of her.

She is somehow able to be totally immersed in her performances but is able to react to outside influences that would be distracting to most people. The hair is gently moved out of the way, she recognizes eye contact, and waves back to individuals. She has tried to describe the endless and beautiful place her mind goes to when singing but nothing seems to be able to affect her performances.

To my ears Angelina has a slightly nasal sound. Not unpleasant as it could be but there and she uses it to good effect. I think modifying vowel sounds is more to do with making the song sound better than it would using the normal vowel sound. Regards, Jim the Brit in NI UK

I have a technical question of sorts. She looked rather fetching in that dress but it looked tight. Bear with me now...I am thinking a garment that is tight around your chest restricts you or does it somehow provide support? I rather think you wouldn't be able to inhale as easily although it appeared she was raising her shoulders at times which I suppose could help her chest\lungs expand to get more of a breath. So it was a fashion choice and you work with it as best you can? Maybe the feathers helped. 😁

I've listened to Angelina Jordan before and think she is a Great singer with a super and versatile voice. But I don't like this song or her interpretation with the level of vibrato and accent of it, personally it was cringe. But all people have their own opinions and (dis)likes.
