Ah yes, the phrase "How is that possible" With Angelina that is probably the most uttered sentence by far. Literally thousands of times I have heard it over the last 4 1/2 years. There is no real answer, it's just Angelina! It's what she does. Enjoying your discovery of this phenomenon!

New subscriber, here! Thank you for another great reaction, even if mystified, reaction to Angelina. It was interesting to hear you name a few singers she sound like. In reality, at this early stage in your discovery, it will be hard for you to realise how very talented she is. To give you some indication of what Angelina has done in the very short time she appeared in public, I list below the artists she has covered up to the present time. Not all of them have complete performances, as some are just snippets and others TikTok uploads - She uses that platform as a laboratory to try out new ways of singing. Adele,A'Ha, Alan Walker, Amy Winehouse, Andy Williams, Aretha Franklin,Audrey Hepburn,Avicii, Beyonce,Bill Withers, Billie Holiday, Bing Crosby, Bobby Vinton, Bruno Mars, Cass Elliot, Charles Aznavour, Charlie Chaplin, Cher, Chris Isaac, Dean Martin, Dinah Washington, Dolly Parton,Doja Cat, Doris Day, Duffy, Dusty Springfield, Ella Fitzgerald, Elton John, Elvis, Ethel Merman,Estelle, Etta James,Frank Sinatra, Frankie Valle, Fred Astaire,Freddie Mercury, Gene Autry, Gloria Gaynor, Halsey, Harry Belafonte,Harry Styles, Jackson 5, James Brown, Jim Reeves, Jimmmie Boyd, John Legend, Josh Groban, Judy Garland, Julie London,Labrinth, Lana Del Rey,Lady Gaga,Lauren Daigle,Leslie Gore,Capaldi, Lionel Ritchie,Lou Rawls, Louis Armstrong, Mamas and the Papas, Maria Carey, Marshmello, Michael Buble,Michael Jackson, Miley Cyrus, Nancy Sinatra, Nancy Wilson, Nat King Cole, Nina Simone, November Ultra,Paloma Faith,Patsy Cline, Perry Como, Queen, Radiohead, Ray Charles, Rihanna, Roberta Flack, Robyn, Ruby & the Romantics, Sam Smith, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Selena Gomez, Shirley Bassey, Sia, The Beatles, The Righteous Brothers, The Weekend, Tom Jones, Vaughan Monroe, Whitney Houston, Willie Nelson

There is a video of all four of her Norway's Got Talent performances. This was the last one. They were all exceptional but the first 2 especially were knockout punches in the competition. Both were Billie Holiday songs. The first gobsmacked everyone as her first international exposure causing a sensation. The second one proved the first was not a fluke. It was done without music and all her competitors standing just behind her and she did it pitch perfect and showed she has no nerves on stage. I believe she was still 7 at that point. But if you want to move up the age range a little check her out at 10 years doing a reverse cover of "I'm Still Holding Out For You" as a demo she was asked to try out. No one would guess it was done by a child. She's been a professional for most of her years. Good reaction.

The more you listen to the chronological order of Angelina’s performances the more you come to realize that this extraordinarily gifted and talented young phenom was born with highly developed instincts, intuition, feel, and genius level musical abilities. Angelina’s skill level, maturity, versatility and overall musical acumen is way beyond any young female vocalist I’ve ever encountered. This once-in-a-millennia astonishingly talented young lady touches the depths of my soul unlike any other artist I’ve ever experienced. I’ve never been brought to tears as often as I have by the sound of a human voice singing like I do when I listen to this divinely blessed young lady. Angelina profoundly affected my life and I am beyond grateful for having discovered her and have her in my life. There are a great many well known adult singers that do not and never will acquire the skills that Angelina was born with. Angelina has a very deep tool box of vocal techniques and textures. Her color pallet is second to none. I’m a man in my late sixties whom has loved to listen to music all of my life. I have an eclectic taste in music that covers several genres. Some of my favorite genres are jazz, blues, R&B and good ol’ rock-n-roll. I am astounded to see that Angelina can sing in nearly any genre and she excels at every one of them. No other young female vocalist I’ve heard has Angelina’s lower range.

Angelina and her closest, decided early on that she would have as normal a childhood as possible. Even when she won NGT, 8 years old, many wanted to sign a contract. Everyone was dismissed! Even Disney. When it comes to the actual training and choice of songs etc., it has always been Angelina who made all the choices and decisions. Parents and others, on the other hand, have asked her to take it a little easier sometimes. Angelina is very special and her own driving force. Ever since she was 3-4 years old! Of course, all relatives and frends, have helped and protected her. And this Norwegian girl sings in English! Do you know that she speaks several languages. I'm so grateful for everything she gives me. / A Swedish Viking

This was Angelina's 1st Masterpiece performance. IMO It sound surreal almost ethereal and other worldly. This capped off her introduction to the world. The world has no idea what is coming. Yet! They will learn. The world is hers for the taking. She is doing what she was born to do. Sing for the whole world. ♥👣👣👣

@DonaldLancon
@DonaldLancon Жыл бұрын
@@edwardsullivan5481 While we wait for 9Ballr to reply, I'll answer that for myself.🙂 Although I have known of Angelina since she was 8 or 9 (first heard her either in late 2014 or very early 2015), I, too, started listening to her basically every day about 3 years ago, in late 2019, after I stumbled upon her Fanclub Mosarz channel (a channel created by her family to be a repository of _hundreds_ of videos they had taken of her over the years), and quickly resolved to watch every single second of footage of her that is publicly available. As I slowly made my way through the Mosarz stuff (I was already "up to date" with her two other YT channels, her "Official" channel and her "CoverChannel"), I quickly got "distracted" by reaction videos, and have ended up spending much more time watching them than her original videos. (I still do occasionally go to her channels to watch my favorites "directly". And, of course, by now I've seen all of the videos on her three channels.) Anyway, I've seen approximately 7,000 AJ reaction videos at this point. That necessarily involves hearing the same performances dozens or hundreds of times. And while I have to admit, there are some performances I don't go out of my way to listen to Yet Another reaction to, most of her stuff I can still happily listen to for the umpteenth time - especially when I'm also seeing someone be blown away by how good she is.😁 Getting back to your question (even though you didn't ask me): Pre-YT, I wouldn't say there was any singer I was so enamored with that I would listen to them every day (or nearly so) for years at a time. There are many artists (individuals and groups) I have listened to quite a bit over the years (I'm 52, BTW, and have quite an extensive CD collection), but mostly those are classic rock acts like the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, etc. (that's my "home genre", as jazz is Angelina's). As far as "vocalists" like Angelina, those are also pretty well represented in my collection: I have at least "best ofs" (and sometimes more extensive box sets or multiple individual albums) for many of the artists she has covered, including Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Etta James, Whitney Houston, and Adele. (In fact, until recently, I suspected that I probably owned the "original versions" of most of the songs she's covered. That might not be true anymore, though, since she's shifted to covering more modern artists lately.) I also have a lot of Norah Jones, Natalie Merchant, Macy Gray, and Corinne Bailey Rae, who are (to varying degrees) somewhat similar singers, but have never been covered by her. (Oddly, I have no Amy Winehouse discs - but that's mainly because in the last 20 years I've stuck mostly to buying "clearance" CDs, and her stuff doesn't often end up there.) In any case, my point is, I have a lot of music from artists "like" Angelina (and a lot of music from artists totally unlike Angelina), but none of them have become "addictions" like she has. As far as artists I've discovered on YT (or at least discovered since joining YT), there are a few singers I've stumbled upon who have impressed me enough to seek out the proverbial rabbit hole to go down. Problem is, for some of those singers, there just wasn't any such rabbit hole to be found. In other cases, once I got sufficiently deep into the hole (rehearsals, etc.), I started seeing (hearing) things that suggested that the singer wasn't actually as impressive as I first thought. And sometimes they started doing a lot of "overproduced" studio stuff that turned me off. Angelina is the only singer who has (with very rare exceptions) become consistently more impressive the more I've seen and heard her. She's the only singer who has not just reduced me to tears with her singing, but reduced me to a blubbering mass - twice (at 13, then again at 15). She's the only singer I know of who has (as a child, mind you) on _multiple_ occasions sung songs of very popular, very successful professional recording artists _better_ than they did/do (IMO, of course). She's the only creative person of any sort whom I've ever even _considered_ giving more of my money to than is required to obtain their creative output (translation: I am a patron of hers on Patreon). I could go on, but you get the picture.

Angelina has a talent that is very rare called perfect pitch. This is the ability to hear a note and be able to replicate and recall that note accurately. Early in her career she uses this a lot in her covers as she channels jazz masters like nobody before her has. Add another very rare talent in that she has an incredible vocal range and low register for a child and you get the amazing and seemingly unreal talent that is Angelina Jordan. Her second NGT performance done during the judges cut round of I'm A Fool To Want You that she does completely acapella is a tremendous example of this as it is note for note exactly the same as Billie Holiday's version of the song, minus the musical accompaniment, and coming out of the mouth of such a small child that you completely forget her age until the end when her little voice snaps you back to reality as she thanks the judges in her tiny little speaking voice. Her talent is not all natural as she works very hard at what she does but no amount of hard work will result in this kind of ability unless there is an exceptional amount of natural talent to begin with.

Thanks you for that great reaction. Angelina fans ('angels') keep coming back to this performance. We never grow tired of it! But there is so much more to her catalogue. One video I can't recommend highly enough is Fly Me To the Moon, on The View - at age 8! You will see an amazing transformation when little girl turns into mature jazz artist in the blink of an eye! She's 16 now, nearly 17, so maybe sample something from her recent concerts in Norway - anything, it's all good!

For a bit of insight into how she can sing so well, and it is not for any early professional coaching , lessons or vocal training. It is a divine gift from her birth. listen to her here at just 18 months singing a portion of the Whitney Huston's song, " I will always love you", from her bed, holding a mike almost as big as she is. This girl was born a singer no vocal training was needed for her expertise ,it is all her natural born gifted talent along with her recognition of why she was born and her relentless dedication to perfecting her skills to sing for the entire world. welcome to the unearthly gift and talent that is Angelina Jordan Astar * A-Star * as her last name states.

Dear Josh, you've returned so quickly! George Gershwin's "Summertime" was Angelina Jordan's winning final performance in Norway's Got Talent. If you're interested in her audition at age 7, it is Billie Holiday's "Gloomy Sunday, " followed by a required a cappella elimination round audition with another Billie Holiday song "I'm a Fool to Want You." She demonstrates her ability to start on and maintain pitch, as well as other vocal skills. If you want an older, blow-away performance, check out her arrangement of Bohemian Rhapsody on AGT Champions at age 13. Angelina is 16 in 2022, with a birthday in January. Grandma Ellen, over and out, with a need for another cup of coffee. 💜

What you’ll find is that Angelina is extraordinary at any age. It’s nuts how good she was as a very young child, but she continued to be amazing at any age. When she was 12, I realized she was the best singer I ever heard. There’s no favorite song for most Angelina fans because her range of styles is huge-and she is just so good in so many different settings and genres that my “favorite” Angelina is a cloud of a couple dozen songs. Definitely watch her AGT cover of Bohemian Rhapsody. She was 13 for that, and it will stun you in ways you cannot imagine. It might be the best live performance I’ve ever seen. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3eTe4lobduagtk

Go back to her first audition to be in the show..at 7yo.. Gloomy Sunday by Billie Holiday. Then you'll really want to see her next performance.."I'm a Fool to Want You"..(acapella!) and then "Bang Bang" by Nancy Sinatra.. just unbelievable! These were the ones leading up to the finale with Summertime where she won . Welcome back!! Guess you got a hint of the vast size and love of her fan base, eh? You probably already know she's been singing since 1 1/2 yrs old; she grew up listening to classic jazz (favs: Billie Holiday and Mr.Sinatra).. this performance was heavily inspired by the Ella Fitzgerald/Louis Armstrong version. She is a PRODIGY, you wondered how she can remember "the words". Most 8yr olds can't remember their lunch box but Angelina knows ALL these lyrics by heart... Literally, her heart LOVES Jazz... She can sing any genre, and always does a better version of a cover... As you saw, her performance of I PUT A SPELL ON YOU was sung with total abandon, and fearless commitment... For Angelina, excellence is in the details, and she doesn't miss a one.. her band calls her "The Boss" for a reason 😉. Angelina is the perfect example that her talent and abilities, "Prodigy"IS the definition of masterful vocal knowledge, and every ornament is at her command! You'll remain in shock and confusion.. you'll grow to know what to expect and yet be surprised... "Perplexed" is your current phase 😁 And we fans (Angels) are happy to accompany you on your journey!! Good reaction! 🎶🎤🎵🎹🎷🎸🎷🎹🎶🎤. PEACE!

Josh, once you get by the novelty of what you're listening to you will settle in and let your heart take over. She doesn't sing for an audience. Rather, she sings for each one of us, one on one. As I previously suggested you would be getting lots of info about her (oh yeah!) and I'm glad you spent quite a lot of time finding out what is going on and who she is. She is all about love and when she sings lyrics which describe life situations that we know she hasn't experienced in her short life, when we listen we get the feeling, she has! Why? How? Because she finds the love in the message of the song (any song) and she relates to that and, thus, her delivery is very genuine and literally touches our hearts.

Angelina is a musical time machine. She introduces younger generations to some of the great music of the early- to mid-20th century. But, she also introduces old fogies like me (I'm 70) to newer music, i.e. Adele, Lana del Rey, Rihanna, Amy Winehouse, Sam Smith, Labrinth - singers I probably would have never listened to. My advice is to listen to some of her newer stuff, then go back to her younger years. But I will guarantee you, no matter what route you take, you will be pleasantly surprised at every bend in the road.

"Summertime" is a George Gershwin song from the 1935 play "Porgy and Bess," originally performed by Abbie Mitchell (July 19, 1935), but has been performed over 25,000 times by countless artists, including Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, and Janis Joplin. As I stated in my last comment on your first reaction. We all felt the same at first, how can this be. Angelina has the ability to draw us in, regardless of how often we've heard her sing. This is the Louie Armstrong/Ella Fitzgerald version of Summertime and she nails it. You will see over time, our Angel is the girl with 1000 voices. You mentioned Lana Del Ray? She covers her. Adele? Many times. Amy Winehouse? Yes, her also. Angelina’s covers are in essence not covers at all, but a rebranding of the songs we've grown to love over time.

More modern rock covers would be Queens Bohemian Rhapsody, Elvis Presley's Suspicious Minds. Micheal Jackson's Billy Jean. She also has her original music. Million Miles and 7th Heaven are two examples. But her music in general are original takes on these covers. I love her Bang Bang from Norway's got Talent and for ballets of Adele's Easy on Me and which to me is a masterpiece on Adel's version. All her music has its own genuine arrangements which she supposedly had arranged herself.

AJ was doing a version of the George Gershwin classic by Ella Fitzgerald, likely the one with Louis Armstrong, although I think there was an Ella version from 1946(?) that matches more closely. Still, this is AJ's version and includes a lot of her original insight into how this song should be performed. AJ has recorded this on several occasions and changes the performance to best align with the accompaniment (and maybe growth as an artist). Truly a prodigy and musical genius. Thanks for sharing.

If you are in to Elvis songs, you ought to see how she totally transformed his famous upbeat hit song, Suspicious Minds, into an emotional vocal masterpiece at 16. She pays tribute to the "King" with her black leather jumpsuit, playing his red guitar with the "Beehive" hairdo of Pricilla. She has covered some other Elvis songs sounding like a female Elvis (like Welcome To My World), but in this one she sounds nothing like him. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIXFfJuhmMqFZpI

Thank you for doing a bit of research and for some very pointed comments. I just subscribed! You want Lana ? Angelina has three of her covers with my favorite being Born To Die age 12 at home. Elvis? Jump up to this year at 16&1/2 (June) Suspicious Minds. She does her own arraigning and this is a masterpiece. Queen? Bohemian Rhapsody and The Show Must Go On. Anyway just click on any of your favorites, but don’t overlook her 5 originals. Shield should a OO7 movie and Million Miles is about the passing of a loved one, her Grandpa.

Subscribed on your first one; meant to go back and leave a comment today, but here you are back already! - so I skipped! My best recommendation for you, as she has soo many songs out there, in soo many genres, is to go to Rusty Shackleford’s Channel here on YT. He keeps an at-all-times updated chronological list of Angelina’s songs, as well as a list of the best/better recordings. (Some recordings are not the best audio.). Pick what you like/are familiar with. OR go to Angelina’s cover channel or official channel, lots there. Lots of people have suggested Bohemian Rhapsody - it’s definitely a MUST. I’ve known her since she was 8 (this final), so I’m not saying “how?” anymore, just Wow! Oh, she has some absolute gems on TikTok, too. I hear a lot of Ella and Louis in Summertime btw, and do yourself a favour: listen with headphones, you’re missing a lot!

Yes she actually won Norway's got talent at age 7 so she definitely was discovered there!!! Her grandmother is an artist and a great supporter as well as influence in her life. No doubt she would have been the one to introduce Angelina to classic jazz music. I watched a documentary video about her where they showed her going down a street lined with shops and entering into a music store called either "Raw Jazz" or "Rare Jazz" (don't remember which) but she would go through all the records and then sit in the shop and listen to them on headphones. This was when she was just 5 yrs. old! No doubt she is a child prodigy, but was also benefited by all who encouraged her and made provision for her to learn.

Josh, her neck and her larynx are a tiny bit longer than usual (deep voice). She started singing (there is a short video) in her crib at 18 MONTHS, discovered the jazz collection of her grandparents and listend for days and weeks on end to this music. She never sang a Kiddy-song. When 3 years old, she decided, what to do in life (her IQ seems to be through the roof). She started practicing singing six hours daily for about six days a week since than. Age 4 saw her entering the music academy of Oslo for technical advice anf when 6 years of age she entered the Waldorfschool of Oslo. She went with her japanese Grandpa into Oslo to help the homeless with food and Grandpa sometimes organized a job or two for the willing. Grandpa and his granddaughter were highly respected by the homeless community. Today AJ tries to help the homeless in LA. Peace man.

I've heard that Angelina is self taught. She has not been coached in the traditional sense as not to be turned into just another sound alike all the others. You should check out her growth with one of her latest videos. I'd recommend her black and white cover of ' I Have Nothing' or her 2022 cover of 'My Funny Valentine'.

Josh, I am in my late 70s and remember growing up during the Big Band and Jazz period of the late 40s and 50s, listening to Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Lois Armstrong, and Ella Fitzgerald, along with other classic Big Band Singers. Angelina Jordan is a young Jazz Singer who has channeled that unique classic Jazz sound into her music. I love Angelina standing in front of an Orchestra, singing her songs filled with emotion, like back in the Day!

Welcome to the Angelina rabbit hole. I’m not sure if anyone has said but she performs barefoot because she was in the Middle East with her family at age 6, came across a little homeless girl that didn’t have shoes. Angelina gave the little girl her own shoes and promised that she would perform shoeless in remembrance of her and until every child in the world could have shoes. Check out her cover of I’d Rather Go Blind by Etta James. She is sitting in her couch at home and using a microphone she just received for her 12th birthday. She holds a note for 16 seconds. Truly amazing. Her version of Bohemian Rhapsody and Yellow Brick Rd on AGT are fabulous and her cover of Easy on Me by Adele is incredible. They made that video in one take and the musicians that work with her call her The Boss.

Great 2nd reaction to her. None the wiser I guess 😅 But hopefully least as intrigued. So be my guest and dig in to her music and very being, it's a study you won't regret. No cap 🙂 I got a feeling that her cover of "Suspicious Minds" may be coming up ? I think that's a fairly good idea, as it is one of her most recent studio recordings. She was (and still is) 16 years old. She dropped it right around the time the new Elvis movie released, roughly 4-5 months ago. I'll try to give you the link : kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIXFfJuhmMqFZpI Much love from Norway

It's reincarnation bro. Blatant living proof. And she's a gorgeous example of the proof. She's beyond a prodigy. She understood adult emotions when she was six. More than a few vocal coaches have said there is no way she should be able to sing like she does at 8 or 9 years old. Physically or mentally. Be well 👍

She started singing at 1-1/2... 😂 Her cover of this with a full on Orchestra in I believe Kork in Norway is beautiful. It has more of her personal take on the piece. This was done with a nod to Ela and Billie. Her leaked recording of I'm still holding out for You, is phenomenal in her singing and the recording. I'm not going into the controversy as I find it ridiculous, but I also understand it. Her singing, It's a Man's World live at a Festival is also insane, she was 11 or 12. It's not a great recording, but it's well worth the price of admission. It was recorded on a cellphone. Her cover of ReRe's, Stay was live and at home and I think better than the original. Not that ReRe's wasn't great its her interpretation of the piece that's amazing her and a single acoustic guitar.

You can hear that Angelina is influenced by Ella Fitzgerald's and Louis Armstrong's version. Besides the trumpet in the beginning, listen to her "do-o-on't" and the second time "daddy". I would suggest ‘Suspicious Mind’ Elvis Presley kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIXFfJuhmMqFZpI July 20, 2022 To see what she sounds like today. My new favorite. Pure power and smooth velvet perfection. Then go back to the beginning and watch her 1st 3 performances on Norway's Got Talent. She started with 'Gloomy Sunday' then 'I'm a Fool to Want You' acapella both by Billie Holiday. She Followed that with 'Bang, Bang' by Sony & Cher but was more popular when done by Nancy Sinatra. Her progress over those several months was incredible and culminated with what I consider her 1st Masterpiece 'Summertime' that you just listened tol The most beautiful voice on earth right now. One of the Best Jazz singers in the world at 16 yrs old. Destined to be one of The Greatest of All Times. IMO. ♥👣

Hi meaningfullyvacant, thanks a billion for this reaction to Angelina Jordan. It is "one of her earliest" recordings, but even the recordings earlier than this one are gorgeous and absolutely worth to react to - like "I, who have nothing": kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJu0i354pbuUm9U (I mentioned this also in my comment to your first AJ reaction 😉) And here are some notes to "Summertime" - may be you are interested to react to some other versions of this song, covered from Angelina? 😎 - one of them is IMHO a must: Live with a symphony orchestra, uploaded 2016 (link see down). "Summertime" is originally from the opera (Gershwin was insistent that it is an opera) "Porgy and Bess" from George Gershwin 1934 - the premiere was September 30th1935 and was sung by Abbie Mitchell. The first commercialized recording was sung by Helen Jepson and was recorded Oktober 23rd 1935. In the meanwhile it is a well known jazz standard. I found these information here: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Summertime; see also: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Summertime_(George_Gershwin_song) (The following link could not be posted in a comment on youtube at 14.02.2021 - later on at 26.03.2021 it was possible) Porgy and Bess, Act I Scene 1: Summertime (Recorded 1935): kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipTOhmOto7uofJI July 19, 1938 recording "Summertime", Abbey Mitchell: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iILWiWqMicuXlcU ------- Some performances and rehearsals from Angelina singing "Summertime": NGT finale spring 2014: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJ_Td6Z5g7CtfMk Live on a jazz festival summer 2014: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jmfMXohjj9uNmsk Live on Kongsberg jazzfestival 2016 (Summertime & Fly Me To The Moon): kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4DHiJ-bjZ6ZsKc Live with a symphony orchestra, uploaded 2016: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qaXad2eqnpanmMU Angelina Jordan rehearsal (Summertime) Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong version (Uploaded 08.08.2019): kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWGcY4tqdpJ7qLs Angelina Jordan concert for UN summit with Kofi Annan (Summertime) 2014 (uploaded 08.08.2019): kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZ3IhHqBqMqIia8 Angelina Jordan rehearsal (Summertime) (uploaded 14.08.2019): kzbin.info/www/bejne/omK5haOdh5ipq6M Angelina Jordan rehearsal Summertime 2014 (uploaded 24.11.2019): kzbin.info/www/bejne/eITQXqKDnLt2pZo Angelina Jordan rehearsal summertime 2014 (uploaded 04.05.2020): kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZ6upa2nlt5gfZY Stay well and healthy - and CU in your next AJ reaction!
