Angelina Jordan - Summertime REACTION & REVIEW (Norway's Got Talent)

I wasnt expecting too much from an 8 yr old girl, but this just blew me away! Angelina Jordan is outstanding in her performance of a true classic song. There are simply no words to describe what i witnessed. This performance won her Norways Got Talent 2014 and i'm not suprised at all when you can sing like this age.

I was actually watching "Norway's Got Talent' just to see what would come up, when I saw this kid singing Summertime, and thought of the 1920s. I figured she was a 'one trick pony', but then she exploded into what she really is, a Mozart. She conducts her band, arranges her music, and runs the rehearsals, until they're what SHE wants. I've even heard her in discussion with the orchestra conductor about her entrance and what the orchestra would be doing. She knows music, plays multiple instruments, writes books, has her on art shop, where she sells her merchandise, and even has written a song in her THIRD language, English, which is amazing. It took her forever to learn to say cotton, and make it sound like Southern USA, but she mastered it. I used to wonder what Saint Louis Blues would sound like, if she sang it, or Can't help lovin dat man, from Showboat. In the same moment, I wonder what she'd do with, some of the newer stuff. There are songs from the stones, and similar, not to mention CCR and BST. It's hard to say what she'll do next.

Backstage, after she won Norway's got talent, and she was being hugged, and kissed by everyone, you could see the look of pride, and happiness for her daughter on her mom's face. It was a beautiful moment. I bet that she never imagined even in her wildest dreams that her talented little Angelina would become the singing sensation she is today with thousands of adoring fans worldwide. She is destined to be a MEGA SUPER STAR, with millions of fans. She will go down in music history as the best jazz singer in history, and quite possibly even the best female vocalist on the planet alive today. What a incredible voice, and such a down to earth, humble person.

Don't know how true it is or not but I read somewhere that her mom said she was tearing up because she figured at that moment that she had lost Angelina to the world. Well, she has not lost her but let's just say she has to share her with the world. I cannot believe that I had never heard of her until she was on AGT. I don't usually watch it but glad that I did this time. Also heard she did not come in the top five at the end? What a sad commentary on what passes for talent these days. The dregs of RAP get hundreds of millions of views while Angelina has so many fewer. I wonder what her real breakout will be when she will be very well known throughout the world as one of the greatest singers of our time.

One thing that I always loved about this performance (aside from her insane vibrato control and that soul melting note at 4:21 ), is just how effortless it is for her. Just look at her face when she finishes that last note at 4:53 . It's like it's nothing at all for her. Like singing is as easy, as natural, and (in her own words) "as important as breathing" for her. To have that in an 8 year old.... it's as you said, "could bring a tear to your eye" at how special this girl is.

@@BlackWolfSpirit She is really a master with the vibrato. She uses it so wisely too. It's always different in different performances. Like in her 2016 Summertime (kork), she tones back the vibrato a lot (and slows the tempo slightly), and it gives it a whole different feel. I'm not sure which version I like more.

You have a whole world ahead of you to discover with Angelina Jordan! She has done so many masterpiece level works in the few short years since this performance. The Angelina fans know this is coming.... Because Angelina is new to you and maybe some of your followers, here is my little bio on her... *Angelina Jordan* - Angelina Jordan was born Jan 10 2006 in Oslo, Norway. She is currently 13 (barely 8 in this performance) - She began singing at the age of one and a half - At 2 or 3 she discovered Jazz through KZbin videos and started studying all the greats from Jazz history. - Angelina always sings barefoot..... When Angelina was 6, she was traveling with her grandmother and met a poor girl with no shoes trying to make money on the streets. The girl complimented her on her pretty shoes, so Angelina took them off and gave them to the girl. She made a vow to always sing barefoot until all the children of the world could have shoes. To this day, whenever Angelina is performing in public, she sings barefoot to remind us that there are less fourtunate people in the world that could use our help. (that's a shortened version. the full story is more touching than the way I have told it here) - She has always been the driving force behind her own singing career. It was her that asked her mother to take her to Norways Got Talent, where she auditioned at 7 years old and went on to win the show at just 8 years old. - In an interview after the show, when asked what she was going to do with the prize money, the 8 year old replied, "I would like to give it to orphans that need clothes and shoes" - The reason you may not have heard of her is because her parents are very protective of her childhood. They do not want her to be thrust into stardom before she has a chance to grow up as a normal child, and finish her education. They allow her to do a few select shows (mainly private and charity events) with a couple public shows every year when she is out of school. Her mother said in an interview that they have turned down 90% of the offers that come in. I have heard they have turned down offers from many major record labels and even disney. - Angelina has covered more than 100 songs over the last 6 years. She always selects the songs herself... everything ranging from old classic jazz to modern pop. She is able to change her voice to match any song she sings and make it her own. (she can cover Amy Winehouse and Lana del Rey like nobody else) - Angelina has collaborated with some very big names over the last few years... Quincy Jones, Mark Ronson, David Foster, and many more. All of which heard her covering their songs and were blown away by her talent. - Angelina has written three of her own original songs: "What is Life", "Shield" and "Oslo". (all are amazing...all can be found on youtube) In summary, Angelina Jordan is destined to be one of the greatest singers to have ever lived. This is just my opinion, but if you listen closely to any of her stuff you will hear the greatness. She sings with a natural style. There is no acting, no showing off, there are no unnecessary runs, or big belty notes just for the purpose of saying "hey look at me sing". She once said "when I sing I go into a magical world in my head", and you can always hear the results of that. When Angelina sings it is pure soul, pure emotion, pure music.

Actually Angelina wanted to participate in Norway got Talent when she was 5. Her mother told Angelina she was too young and had to wait. At 7 she was allowed to join.

Angelina is born January 10th 2006. She is 13 now and has a fabulous voice. You have a lot of covers and some originals waiting for you. I think she has passed more than 100 songs in her repertoire now. Almost all are great. Angelina's mother said Angelina found her way to the jazz and blues songs by herself. She got access to an iPad when she was about 3 or 4 and there she searched for songs. Then she started to sing those she liked. Billie Holliday was one of the first singers she loved. There is a video of Angelina at 18 months attempting to sing Whitney Houston's I will always love you. So she was already that young showing interest in and talent for music.

Angelina is a jazz lover. In the audition she sang "Gloomy Sunday" the Billy Holiday song. She also songs Sinatra, Winehouse, Fitzgerald, and many more. Many feel she could become one of the great jazz singers as she gets older. One very touching song she does is "You Are Always On My Mind" which she dedicates to her Grandad who rece tly passed away. At the end it gets to her and she cries, as I did for her. This is a unique voice and a very sweet child.

People don't need drugs, just listen to Angelina's velvet voice, and your shoulders lower ... She can change her voice depending on what song she sings. She can go incredibly deep, but also very loud if she wants to. Thank you so much for your reaction to Angelina and I now became a subscriber to your channel. She will become a legend one day. One of the reasons she is not so exposed yet is that the she comes from a poorly populated country Norway (5, 5 million) - And that it takes somewhat longer to be discovered. Thinking about the USA etc .. Each country lives in its own world with its own talents, therefore it will take time from a small country like Norway. And her parents want her to have as natural a childhood as possible. She now lives in LA, and everyone in the industry knows that Angelina is a diamond. She sings her songs with layers of texture in the voice, and does not shout out loud tone just to show off. I hope you will react more to her. Her voice is like velvet. Norway got talent, 2014. She won, she is 7. She is DIVINE! I've watch her win in 2014 and have been watching her ever since. Angelina is now 13! She's written a couple of books and she makes the music arrangement.
