I have come to the conclusion that amongst all of the current group of talented child singers I have seen and heard, Angelina is heads above them and stands alone. One only needs to watch her six year old performance to realize that they are watching the most supremely gifted child singer they have ever seen. The depth of Angelina’s maturity, intellect, emotional connection to the lyrics, her intense focus, professionalism and singing ability is unlike anything we’ve seen in a sea of young and talented singers. When a nine year old singer is capable of re-writing lyrics and arrangements that leads me to conclude that Angelina is a multi-faceted genius level talent.

I was in the car today and the Chris Issac version of this song came on. I listened and recalled all the times I had listened to Angelina sing it. She gave these lyrics and this song true feeling and meaning. Much different than Chris Issacs and to me so much better. She is absolutely super. Thanks for your great reaction. As far as Angelina’s age is concerned. She was once asked how she could do what she does at her age and she said the she was only twelve in her passport! The interviewer asked what is was like when she sang. Angelina said that she went to a another world. When asked to describe what is was like she said it was beautiful, full of colour and light, infinite. So many times when she sings she seems completely absorbed in the song and then ,at the end, you can see her change when she gives a little wave and says “bye”. She is, without any doubt, a very special child.

Phenomenal, I hope i spelling is right! Watched her since she was 7 and I often get overwhelmed emotionally by her voice. Some of her singing induces goosebumbs, tingling down my spine and tears in my eyes. There's not many people that can do that, let alone someone of her age etc. Wow!

This girl doesn't make up anything, never cheats, never pretends, doesn't add anything. It sounds impossible, but it is. She has neither mask nor ego as soon as she sings. It's almost magic because each gesture is perfect, in its place, each note, each word, each rhythm, each tempo, each emotion with a pure defenseless sensitivity which is impossible for us but so natural and obvious to it and which touches us right in the heart. And it's breathtaking for us. No matter his age, his talent is timeless. You are right to say that she takes us into her inner world as soon as she opens her mouth. And it also seems that with just a piano or a guitar, it lights up her voice, her vibrant soul and her emotions even more. Angelina Jordan is unique like a sun. Years ago I had a CD, remember those, in your car? It was a Frank Sinatra's greatest hits. Between two of the tracks the sound stayed on and while the band is tuning instruments between takes you could hear Frankie say "They're NOTES, ya gotta SING 'em!" It has always struck me that Angelina understands this, and as you say, she never gives up on a note. Her ability to convey a note or a word exactly as it should be is like.... random precision.

I wish I'd written that :-) You only have to look at the videos posted on her grandmother's channel to realise how transparent Angelina is. We are allowed to see her " warts and all". It shows a degree of maturity and confidence in herself which other professional singers would be reluctant to reveal I am in awe of her.

@@alberttenfoot Yes, I think you are right. The greatest artists have been working for many years to connect with the emotions in each note. And they only show themselves for the show. This girl is transparent, so pure and so natural. She has no ego when she sings. She even shows her imperfections during rehearsals. I think it is for this innocent simplicity without ego that it can connect immediately to the emotions and even to the soul of music and it is something so rare and so magical that touches all people at most deep in themselves.

Christoph Egger I totally agree! To add on though...listen to La Bohem (spelling), A song for A, this song, Still holding out for you...the different styles and ways that she melts her voice into each song. There are some really hot young singers out there right now with amazing vocal range and ability but I don’t really care to listen to any of them, why because unlike Angelina, they use the song as an the instrument to showcase their voice. Where as Angelina respects the song (composer and original artist) and just does her version of that. She doesn’t use the songs to do (what I like to call) vocal gymnastics just so they can show off a 4 octave range in one piece of music. Sometimes changing from the end of a sentence to the beginning of another...... out of nowhere. To me it totally wrecks the song...just for the sake of the singer to show off and give “shock value.” I am so thankful that Angelina respects the music and honors it. If you want to do vocal gymnastics find original music that suits what you do or do one song in a couple of octaves and another song in a couple of other octaves but mixing it up within the same piece is jolting. With one of them there was such a change in their voice that it totally unnerved me. At first I thought that there was a different person singing and when I realized it was the same person I couldn’t turn it off quick enough. (If had been a different person I still would not have like that voice). Angelina is real and she doesn’t need to use tricks to reach people when she sings. She doesn’t even really need much music behind her..a guitar by itself is more than enough playing while Angelina sings captivates an audience. That is the mark of a true legend. It reminds me of Judy Garland. She could just sit on a stool or on the side of a stage and with a piano sing and captivate everybody and they would be putty in her hand. That is Angelina.

Some reviewers seem to like her over our Angie.I have seen her sing twice, and I feel that she is adopting moves like Taylor swift or Lady Gaga. Angelina , on the other hand shows emotion, and passion simply by moving her hands to her heart. I like how you said she could sit on a stool and sing. I am a old Perry Como fan. That is all he had to do, just sit on his stool and sing, and people loved him. Angie could do the same, she has the same softness in her voice as Perry Como did. Andy Williams was another singer who did not have to belt everything out like Dimash to sell records. Angelina is a humble person by nature, from what I am seeing Diana may be a great ginger, but is going to be a "Look how great I am already" type

@Lee brn You must be reading my mind because they were the top 2 singers that I was referring to. Diana is the one that creeped me out. I am not trying to be mean but when she was singing she was on The Voice and she was in some huge gown singinging in a darkened silhouette. (I mention this to set the mood) and all of a sudden this voice that sounded strange started singing. At first I thought it was someone else but then I realized it was her. I could not turn it off fast enough..it actually unnerved me. That never happened to me...ever. What was she trying to prove? That she could sing like 2 totally different people? (Even if the “other person wasn’t a person with a beautiful voice)? Why? it didn’t improve the song. It didn’t help the natural progression of the song, it was an unnatural and abrupt change that broke from the message and mood of the song. In her case it totally destroyed everything that she did to that point and dominated the music from that point on. I doubt that the composer and/or original artist would find it complimentary or even respectful. This kind of thing actually cheapens the song and turns it into a mere “showcase” of the abilities of the performer whether it even fits the piece. Dimash is the same way although his “other” voices are not disturbing, they are just “out of place” and disruptive to the origin of the music. I mean, here I sit listening to their song...taken from a legendary singer..songwriter..and showcase “their vocal gymastics”....again abruptly jolting the natural build of the song. Why not just sing 2 different songs with the different voices? Morissant did the same thing on AGT. I am beginning to think that it has become a “fad” of sorts. People, in general can fall for ,the new..shock value ...anything but it does wear off and then what is left? What is their actual style? What are they known for if not for that? I am probably about the same age as you and I remember them as well. All greats ....legends. There is one of them that sings “It’s impossible” and I cannot remember his name right now but he is wonderful and that song is one of my favorites. Angelina would be wonderful if she would sing it. Angelina doesn’t have to do “tricks” during a song to keep your attention because when she opens her mouth and starts singing she takes you on a journey that leads you on an adventure into an experience that will move your soul and captivate your heart. No tricks needed. Just a God given talent from a beautiful spirit that inevery peace has at least a “touch” of calming and serenity. And , yes, all she needs is herself..even at acapela she stands for on her own.

This was the first Angelina performance (I'm pretty sure) that made me tear up. Well… the performance and the video. Because it was actually the slideshow video that I saw first (not the "animated" one, but the "static" one, which is a little less distracting). I think it was actually the second time I watched it, because the first time I was concentrating so hard on her singing and playing. Anyway, here I was listening to lyrics like "I don't want to fall in love with you" while I'm watching the cutest damned pictures of her as a younger and younger child… Talk about wicked game! Jeez… And that deadpan look on her face that makes you want to just pick her up and hug her… (It's a bit disconcerting, BTW, how she's smiling and laughing in the baby pictures up to a certain age, and then she stops smiling most of the time in the older pictures [until, presumably, she gets old enough to accept that you're "supposed to smile" in pictures]. Anyway, that's a whole 'nother discussion…) So, it made me tear up, is my point. And it was _because_ of the visuals, not despite them. (That being said, it's good that there's a different version where the video and audio portions fit together a little better.)

I do find "If you go away" very emotional but not quite to the extent of "Wicked Game"" This is more so since Sune Amtoft uploaded his beautifully produced visual for it. It so well harmonises with Angelina's performance that it is not necessary for me to close my eyes while listening to her. I have the same problem as most Angelina fans, in that there are so many that affect me emotional it is, in reality, impossible to make a choice as to favourite. But, as they say "Watch this space".

Angelina is the only singer (other than Louis Armstrong singing "What a wonderful world") that can unleash a flood of emotions in me. I would love to see someone blend their voices together into a video. I am like you, in that, I can't find enough words to try to describe Angelina's voice. I think that her loving jazz and the blues from such an early age had a huge effect on her vocal style and range. I once heard a three-year-old girl who spoke with a deep southern accent even though she had never been in the South, but her parents spoke with an accent. I have heard people say that Angelina was an old soul in a young body. The artists who have recorded great songs, are in a way, passing part of their soul on to us when we listen to them after they are gone. We never know what effect our actions and deeds may have on other people around us.

What is so incredibly remarkable for me about this and all of her performances is realizing that Angelina is so young, yet she has a complete grasp of the mature content of the lyrics. This innate, intuitive and uncanny ability to grasp and then interpret her understating of the lyrics shines through on every performance she has given. Angelina is far more mature than is reasonably expected of someone so young and with limited life inexperience.

It's hard to believe that just a 12 year old and her keyboard could create such a work as this. One of the first things I noticed about this one is how beautifully she controlled the changing tempo of this arrangement. There are moments when it speeds slightly and then slows again. There's something so natural about it, and it's something that would be impossible for her to convey to other musicians. I think in the future some of her very best stuff is going to be just her in solo performances accompanying herself on piano or guitar. BTW: you picked the right video the other one was made by her biggest fan (her grandmother), but it is a slideshow of pictures that can be a little distracting to the masterpiece of a song she created there.

@zoki kostadinov I will not say that Angelina is 'better' than Diana with this song, because that's just opinions. But I think Angelina captures the _intent_ of the original much better than Diana. ...but that is Angelina's specialty... capturing the intent of the original (sometimes more than the actual original)

It is an art, and even what may have been written as dark, she shows that it is not. It is beautiful. And there is a way to see that, hear that, and she shows us that. Songs are wonderful expressions of art. She captures that truth for us. Interesting anecdote: At twelve in an interview when asked the first question "when I see you on stage I wonder who do you feel that you become?" [fishing for a particular artist, I'm sure] Her answer was: "When I sing I go to another world. It’s ...in the world it’s like an endless. It's amazing. It's like full of happiness. And I love ...It's amazing." [her exact words] She brings that world to us, just for a time when she sings. Whatever you believe that place she goes to may be. Enjoy the Angelina journey! For me it’s as if she is singing the lyrics inside her mind...it’s how our thoughts and emotions might sound and feel if they were never outwardly expressed...more emotional than vocal! ...a very unusual approach to the song, for sure. I think you are right. Angelina does not only vocalise the lyrics; the emotions of those lyrics are in her mind as she does so. The only point I disagree with you is that, in my opinion, ir is not an unusual approach to the song. For me it is a very appropriate approach. Angelina's singing reflects the agony and pain, the sense of utter despair and abandonment, with no hope of reconciliation. And if she can do this at the age of 14, without the life experience to draw upon, I shudder to think what she will be able to accomplish another six years down the track.

Perfection is the word here. I always dreamt that Angelina, like Diana Krall, would always sing at the piano her jazz songs. Now, i have to enlarge my dream and pray that she will sing at the piano most of her songs. She is not the kind of artist to flash on the stage with all kind of tricks and theatrics. This I think is the genious of Angelina as she so often concludes that less is more, as she performes. Getting right to the core of the song and the emotions of it, as she peal away everything that might distract you from what the song is all about. Angelina and a few cords on a piano. Angelina and a guitar. Angelina and no music. She always stands out, or should I rather say, she let the song stand out in the most stunning way.

I am really impressed by Dianas version of Wicked Game. I like it a lot. Its beyond anything I expected, just outstanding. But this version is so different. It is just tearing me up every time.
