I appreciate how in the first 2 minutes you tossed out a rig that will catch “anything and everything out here” it’s hard being a rookie fisherman trying to find setups that simply “catch fish” I can’t target certain species, I’m just down for anything. I like this. Thank you.
@kevinderrick9695 Жыл бұрын
It really isn't all that hard to target certain species. - Figure out where does your target spend most of it's time, shallow water? deep water? sand bottom etc go to an area that has those attributes. A google search should give you the info on your desired fish. - Have appropriate gear (line, rod strength, hook size) for that targeted species. Bigger fish = Bigger hooks & stronger gear. Lastly you want to imitate what that fish eats. If you're targeting flounder or other sand bottom fish, you might wanna give worms and similar bait a try. If you're targeting Trout you might wanna try flies, Pike you wanna try bigger top water baits like frogs or small mice etc... At the end of the day, it's a lot of trial and error. You have to remember that that same fish will bite on different things depending on weather, water color, temperature and general mood. So what doesn't work today might work tomorrow and vice versa. Lastly, even if you do everything "correctly" it doesn't guarantee that you will ONLY catch your desired species. You never 100% know what will bite your hook. Hope that helps you out! GL!!!

I hope the camera on your line turns into a series. Very cool. You could strap a camera to a dock piling with lights and film fish biting too. A bag of chum with a camera watching from below could be cool also, maybe from a pier or jetty. Joey Antonelli and John Skinner have some great underwater camera set ups and videos, but there are lots more ways to use them.

How far out are you casting it? I’m going past the little what I heard another video call “fish highway” onto the sandbar and then chunking it as far as I can into the second “fish highway” right past the first sandbar, then walking back to the shore and waiting, no bites. I’m in pcb on vacation, every time I come here I catch stuff from the pier but this time I thought I’d give the beach a try too. So far I’ve tried using squid, and shrimp, I also have some sandfleas all frozen bought, but no luck yet. Only bite I got was like 20 feet away from shore with some shrimp. Do I use big chunks of squid, or little ones? And is there a certain time they bite the best?
