The Angleworm Trail in the Boundary Waters Wilderness Canoe Area has called me now for quite some time. Got my ol' buddy Wander'nFool out for a casual walk around this "Prom Queen" of trails.
It is a 14 mile loop north of Ely, Minnesota.
You must get a permit to hike on this trail as it is in the BWCA. Wilderness. Quiet. No roads. No power lines.
We did three nights and this trail lends itself to slowing down and stopping a lot to take in the Glory. On a three night trip out daily miles were short as it is only 14 miles. We took time to truly enjoy the BWCA. Even got in some day naps in the hammock. Long days up there and we got lucky with very little mosquito and blackflies. Cool days and cooler nights.
Whooooooooooo Buddy))))))

Fantastic walking, location, woodland and lakeside views. I'm trembling at the mere thought of the angling potential on those waters. Thanks Shug, from an 'ole man in Ayrshire.

Wow Shug, you went back into time. On those fuel tanks. That cylindrical piece that you thought was a lamp, I recall as a kid, may have been the actual pump. Growing up, there was a grocery store in the neighborhood that had a gas pump that had a cylindrical glass container at the top. There were markings 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 gallons on the glass. The attendant would pump gas up to the mark that you wished to pay for and let gravity then feed it through the hose into your gas tank. What a treat!

Another great video!!I have been looking for a stool to bring with me on my trips in the Adirondacks near where I live-but I can't find one that weighs little and supports my 6'5" and 250 lbs.I'm not a fat guy-I'm muscular and I can never find things made for big people. What do you recommend? The Stansport stool supports 200lbs.

The pit latrines at BWCA can get pretty stinky, and can attract a lot of flies. I was there with my family a decade ago and my mom took some ashes from the fire and sprinkled all over the latrine. Doing that instantly ceased the smell and the flies disappeared.

Yes, and a handful of leaves or duff will do it too. Still rather that than a turd minefield!

You should do the Nestea Plunge for us next time you get near some water. Are those fenders over your shoestrings? They keep the mud off? ;-)

The scene with Wanderin snoring was primo. Well-traveled Sintax77 mentions in one of his videos, that a favorite result of his hikes is the hours of solid, restful sleeping in camp. Whooo Buddy !

Love the transition from bear poop to a chocolate bar! That is one gorgeous area. I'll be checking it out if I'm ever down your way. Would like to experience it by canoe, too.
