Great as always Shug. Id like to particularly thank you for another hammock tutorial. I know you have dozens of these videos, some of which you have already went through the setup- but for someone like me who is in the process of switching over to the hammock system- I have to admit all of the components that make it up can be overwhelming. It's so nice to have a seasoned pro like you to glean all of this knowledge from!

Greatly appreciate the videos--the knowledge and perspectives of the trail. Been hammocking for about a year. It revolutionized my travel capabilities. I see more places I never would have. Instead of having to hang out in expensive places I can't afford, I hang out in the bushes. Great Lakes has always been one of my favorite areas. Never been anywhere tropical like Hawaii--maybe try to get there someday. Heard kayaking around South tip of FL is great scenery too--if you want to be a snowbird--Thanks again and take er' easy.

One of the funniest stories I ever read was called When a three chilli cook off goes horribly wrong. Two men decide to try three different chilli meals on a camping trip. They agree all three are good. But then the night sets in and its starts to rain and then they have to sleep in a tent. Need I say what happens next? In the middle of the night they have to leave the tent. Staying inside the tent is just not an option. Its a damn funny story. Thanks for sharing your trips with us. I always enjoy watching.

Thanks for sharing this, looks like a blast. I think that first mushroom was a fly amanita wasn't it? I believe it's hallucinogenic and possible deadly, but not sure. They are very cool looking though, haven't seen one in a while.
@coast2coast0010 жыл бұрын
It's poisonous but not really deadly.. you would have to eat more than a full meal of raw mushrooms to be killed by them, just boiling them removes all the poison as it is water soluble. There hasn't been a reported death from this mushroom in over a hundred years.
@shugemery10 жыл бұрын

***** If you boil them they are just a food.. I heard they eat them in the old country as some traditional food, but I've never heard about anyone eating them over here. Edit: I just looked up how to cook them correctly, they boiled them for 10 minutes, changed the water and boiled for 10 minutes, then sauteed with butter and salt. No ill(literaly) effects. also someone posted this comment which I thought was funny "I nibbled on the raw mushroom in the forest because I saw animals had been doing the same. I got great energy and was bounding through the forest in an excellent mood from a single nibble!"

I usually don't make a fire when solo. If I do it is a small one for a short time. As far as bears go I stay vigilant to signs of bear, keep a clean camp. About the best I can do. I don't hike with worry.
