I mean he's definitely got a point. I've had tickets for less than 10mph over, in the MIDDLE of the NIGHT. And I'm not talking highly populated areas, or where I'm passing everything on wheels. Once was on I-10, out WEST of Junction (Hwy patrol) and another between Junction and Harper on 290...years apart. BUT JT also had the point that if would make cops jobs safer.

@@Dwendele haha, a couple of my mates and me knew where a fixed speed camera was on a HWY in Perth, WA. At about 1 in the morning when there was pretty much no traffic, we took turns going past the camera until someone got flashed. The speed limit is 100km, one of the lads got flashed at 110km and owed everyone a slab, plus a speeding fine 😂

As a Montanan who went to college in Wyoming I can explain some things. 1. Wyomings speed limit is 80 but they take their road laws seriously and there are no warnings they will throw the book at anyone and everyone usually. 2. Montana between 1955 and 1974 had something called “Reasonable and Prudent” driving laws which meant during the day you could drive as fast as you want as long as it is safe. I’m 1974 Nixon made 55 the national limit which was overturned in ‘95 at which point Montana reverted to the original law until 1999 because in 1998 a guy got a ticket and fought it and the courts found the law to be unconstitutionally vague because it gave the police too much power when deciding what is too fast. Our speed limit has been 80 since 2015

In middle school, during the summers, I went to a camp where we went to different places like Coney Island, and Action Park. One trip to Coney Island, we went on the Gravatron and my buddy and I noticed all of the money from people's pockets ended up in the "gutter" below the outside wall. He and I RAN full sprint after that cash, the ride operator noticed and yelled at us because, between each round that's what he did, was go collect everyone's money for himself! We went on a couple more times later that afternoon and did the same thing until we were banned from the ride and told our friends what was going on, then the 2 of them went on and did the same thing. We snagged about $50 each and that was just what bills we could grab. I bet that guy was raking in thousands on busy days.

Simmer use to have a spot when I was a kid at a private little community on Lake Merwin in Washington. We'd sit as a family at the boat launch(it had benches front row) and just watch all the new boat owners and chaos. Boat launches are super entertaining, especially when it gets windy and it's peak season. The pull out was super steep and my only real memory was of a guy that pulled his boat out and got about 100 yds up the hill and it slid off the trailer and went all the way into the lake. Didn't hook it up and left a triangle trail of fiberglass all the way down. TLDR: boat launches are endless fun.

When I was in Germany the autobahn had a recommended speed. Not an actual speed limit. Some areas did have actual limits. The way it was explained to me was accidents that happen outside of the speed limits are on you. Your insurance won't cover you. It's harder to get a license in Germany. It also costs a ton more. People take driving there pretty seriously that is why accidents are so low. Going 130 on the autobahn was a pretty casual thing though. It's not like here in the US at all. I can still go 130 here but my local PD won't be too happy about it.
