It's important to know when to stand your ground, and when to back off, when working with animals. This is one of those times.
No Emus or keepers were hurt in the filming of this video.

I think it depends on how they were raised. Was in a zoo near Sydney and these things would strut around kicking the wallabys around but seemed more territorial as they were not trying to actually kill them. Poor little guys. They ignored people unless they thought they had food although not sure why you would want to feed as they have some huge claws. They seem tame around farmers if brought up from the egg but seen videos like this one where they can be pretty aggressive.

Yeah, they're definitely intimidating in-person. Had a run-in with one about eighteen years ago, it didn't attack 'cause I didn't give it a reason to but it definitely got up in my grill just like with this guy. Also fun fact is that they have small claws on the tips of their wings! They can't really use them for anything, but still alarming to see anything resembling fingers on a bird's wing.

Technically, paleontologists have considered modern birds to be a form of dinosaur for the past couple decades (and strong evidence has been found more recently and many extinct dinosaurs, including T-Rex and Velociraptor, had feathers). So yes, you are literally watching a video of someone getting challenged by a dinosaur.

@cinereous5426

She was just always aggressive, usually when you first entered the exhibit. Most of the time she would stop a few feet away and hiss angrily like she does at the start here. Standing your ground and holding up a hand would make her back off. It was very unusual for her to come at me three times in a row, so I was l looking to leave. She kicked at me at 0:38, and I was lucky she missed. Just something had her more upset than usual that day.

These birds are horrifying…. My grandparents neighbors farmed them for years until the husband was damn near killed when he was retrieving the eggs. They would chase me along the fence line in my go kart and hiss at me and puff up like this. We ate the eggs a few times though they’re really weird, giant and dark green in color with strange sand paper-ey texture all over them. I would not mess with a momma and her eggs but usually they are pretty docile.

For every "aggressive Emu " video, there are 10 showing how curious, friendly with people and other farm animals Emus are! We ( wife and I ) just got a pair at 2 weeks of age. The breeder would hand feed them at 1 week of age. I have seen a video where the male Emu chick bonded so strongly with the owner, that he claimed it would not breed with a mate Emu when it became an adult Emu. Seems everyone knows the males make the best pets. I agree with Marcus Bullock's comment just below this comment.
