@@TOX1Cparadise Yeah, not only do they feel like they're intentionally designed to avoid any close resemblances with the MCU actors, but they look like they could've been designed without any actual actor mo-cap or real person references. The faces are all bizarrely generic, with no unique distinguishing features. No personality. It's hard to really explain, but I'm an Illustrator, and it's the type of generic design that I've seen when people are designing characters from their imagination.

@@HB.IN21 Not a fanboy, critic up to launch day, played it and fell in love with the attention to detail Crystal Dynamics put in this game. The marketplace is there, but it has no value to playing the game itself. No need, it’s not trying to get you any way they can, they just have the option there for those with the money and not the time. Same concept in Destiny’s marketplace, and you can purchase that stuff with in game currency you earn from playing the game as well. The fact that this was the major concern and the opening for this review was the real bias in people who weren’t looking for the good.

Oh FFS... imagine having nearly endless source of awesome stories available to use from decades of comics, arcs etc. Imagine having a huge budget that does not constrain you as to what you CAN do and achieve. The big problem is how generic this game is. You’re supposed to be the Avengers, heroes of myths and legends of modern time. Hulk should be smashing things and with ease and jumping about like in ultimate destruction, not at that level but something similar. Iron man should be souring through the sky with a whole Arsenal you can customise, mix and match. Lasers, types of rockets. Imagine iron man be weapons but more. Also power management from iron man 1 game but better. Cap should feel like mix of boxer, mms fighter etc., with him having different buttons doing different forms of attack, like jab or heavy punch, sort of like a fighting game, the a button for the shield which can be used within the combo. He should also feel relatively fast and variable jump heights. Widow should be based more on stealth and agility. She should be able to sneak around enemies without needing to use an ability during combat and deal more damage and also use the enemies weapons against them, like in avengers, where she needs to constantly exchange her weapons with the chitari. Maybe she could pop in the mech for a few seconds and all. Thor should be sort of a partner in crime with hulk. While hulk has speed, he can’t deal damage across a big area at once, while Thor is slower within combat but using his lightning or other abilities, should deal large area damage. Kamala should play as a normal character that has buttons to attack and range, but have a specific button you hold to enlarge the part of yourself doing the attack, but if you don’t, the distance of the attack is longer as it stretches so you have more choices and versitility to combat.

Man, I really hope Gotham Nights/ Suicide Squad looks at what Avengers is doing here and goes in a very different direction. Each character making sense and being fleshed out with satisfying moves and upgrades, but most importantly a great story and be just as playable single player as coop. I think something akin to the way gta 5 did it. Simultaneously upgrading and building up each character. Having their own solo stories but coming together in certain missions. The now defunct MMOARPG "Marvel Heroes" had the same issues with skins and loot not impacting visuals. It was due to Marvel/Disney being so protective of their characters "brand" that only the approved appearances could be used.

I dont think so. Most of these characters dont look like their comic book counterparts. The upgrades could have also been directly related to changes in the MCU or comic books over the years so that's a game design choice.

Only problems I have right now might be the traversal, it feels slightly held back, especially with Captain America. I'd appreciate a slight combat boost onto the Hulk, but that's basically it.

Just wait a couple months and this game will be on sale. As someome who bought it, I highly recommend waiting until then. The campaign is enjoyable i guess but it's definitely way too short. Characters max out at level 50 but you'll be lucky to have gotten to level 10 with any character by the time the campaign ends. And thats assuming you used one avenger the entire time. I can't believe how short they made the campaign. And add into it that the reason the campaign was so short was because they opted to do a terrible multiplayer aspect that just doesn't land. Every level has the exact same design because you have to be able to complete it with any avenger. This leads to repetitive levels that don't make you want to come back. Strange that they want you to replay these "missions" over and over yet they have no real payoff or purpose. The loot you get might as well not be there. Just invisible numbers that increase your stats very slighty but offer no cosmetic change. Overall this game would've benefited from something similar to what insomniac did with spider man in 2018. If it was a single player focused, action rpg type game with a more refined combat and looting system, it would be a phenomenal game. It should be a phenomenal game when you are working with that IP. The fact that it fails in so many areas is really disappointing.

This game feels more like Anthem unfortunately, and the battle pass system is the cherry on top of the pie. Even if they are free on launch players shouldn't be forced to spend hundreds of hours on each character just to unlock some cosmetics. I'll pass as I value my time and would rather play a game with a memorable, consistent story such as The Last of Us 1 rather than sink hundreds of hours on one empty lifeless "live service game" like this. I dreaded the time where single player story driven games would be turned into Destiny-like live service, and that day has come 😔

Nah it hasn't come, Doom Eternal, Sekiro, Spider-Man, God of War, Control, Red Dead 2, Metro Exodus, Wolfenstein, Dishonored are just a small example of the fantastic games we've gotten in just the past few years, these shitty grind quests have been around before destiny, and they aren't gonna hurt single player games, they just pad the gap between big, quality releases.
