If I recall ACG you build your movset to what stance you will switch into, if the weapon has that option, say an square to triangle will lead you to a high stance when you do a switchattack and lower stance for triangle to square and I think there was some chaining involved between the weapons moveset editor that made it more smooth and controled. I guess it could just be do your stance switch attack then swap wp or something, hopefully it's some usefull info in this, been a fair while. ☻

Nioh 1 was such a great experience in itself, and the devs just kept working on it, updating it with free content and making REALLY good DLC campaigns that continue the game with new level caps, monsters and weapons. Support Nioh 2, if not now, then when it eventually becomes the best through dev support.

Glad you enjoyed it. Actually, you prob didn't give up on it because of being a latecomer. Casuals used to braindead gameplay or interactive movies gave this game bad reviews all the time because "spending 2-3 hours in the first level dying over and over isn't fun". Legit saw this excuse a bunch. One of them even mentioned the game doesn't really explain gameplay... when there's like a million tutorials at the start (which you can then view at will in start menu anyways)

That's because it's a character action game. It belongs more with the likes of Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, and most obviously Ninja Gaiden, more than standard Souls-likes. Nioh is to the above as Darksiders 3 is to the rest of the Darksiders games. It's the same as the above but done more like souls.

PRO TIP - If you go to the options menu you can turn off item pickup under a certain rarity. You can choose the rarity as well (basically set it to blue or purple so that the option doesn't even show up to pick up anything lower in rarity, for instance). This basically FIXES inventory management, and lowers the constant flow of loot you don't want or need.

Thanks for the review. I appreciate you taking the time to be so detailed in your approach and I’m excited to get into the game. At the risk of sounding like other commenters, Kusarigama is said “Ku-sa-ree-ga-ma.” Kusari refers to a chain or a weighted chain. Gama is the same word as Kama, the harvesting tool turned weapon that is common to Kobudo styles and some Japanese Bugei. But because Japanese grammar we have to say it as “gama.” Most romanized Japanese words are spelled as phonetically as possible, but there are some challenging rules that can trip us up as we read them. Much respect to you and I look forward to the full review.

From Software's games tend to have some annoying camera problems as well. Something about the genre. These games can be hard enough without having to fight the camera mini boss while fighting the main bosses. Hopefully, it'll get addressed in a future patch in Nioh 2's case.

Yep, completely agree, especially about the lack of marketing. They have a good release window before RE3 and the FF7Remake so they really should be (or should have been) making the most of it. After that there's some massive releases and Nioh 2 will be forgotten.
@MrSchnitzel194 жыл бұрын
I think the big problem was that it got incredibly repetitve fast because of both the level and enemy design. The thing that made DS, BB and Sekiro levels isntersting was that you were part of a connected world, pushing on. In nioh you just grinded the same levels 5 times wiht minor changes. If you wanted a specific items you'd grind it 20 times instead. Makes it feel bland and boring imo.

I’m kind of on the same boat my dudes. I’m currently recovering from a surgery basically not able to move outside my room. Started playing Bloodborne for the first time (got it from Ps plus) and holy hell. Yeah, the challenge in these games can be rewarding and fun, but sometimes it just feels SO TEDIOUS; especially when the story is essentially non existent and you don’t really know WHY your in game projection (your protagonist) is going through so much shit. That is, of course, unless you decide to spend a couple extra hours (at least) to dive into the lore of the game, which also ruins the surprise factor because you are (usually) spoiled. Sorry for the rant, I’m just currently conflicted as to whether I should finish BB or not because of its chore-like structure.

Oh and btw Bloodborne is my first proper souls game. I played Nioh a few years ago but I don’t think it counts. I did quite like it at that time though (Nioh).

Like what? If you mean real-life obstacles like bills etc I understand, but if you mean because of the game itself, I can't see what would make you feel this way!

Just wait then. Nioh 2 will most likely be even better down the line, if the first one is anything to go by

The first Nioh was one of few (if not the only) game where I felt spear type weapons were fun an exciting to use. Easily my favourite weapon type, Nioh left the turtling & poking spear wielding archetype in the dust for a dynamic and interesting playstyle. Keen to play Nioh 2 just to experience that again.

Can we just call this genre what it is? It's a Strategy-action role playing game. You could just as well replace the word strategy with survival.... Either way I'm flabbergasted that so many people act as though it's impossible to define without invoking the souls title. SARPG.... There.... You're welcome.

@@sethchandler4170 I love it, I'll start using this even though I already call Nioh something else. I hste how much souls fanboys downplay this game but I can get them back this way.

20 seconds into the video, a reference to obscure mid-90s late night cable TV programming. And that's why Karak is one of my favorite game reviewers.

Am I gonna buy this game even though I haven't finished the first one? Yes, yes I am.

I've heard similar concerns about the controls for switching stances -- in the first Nioh, there was an ability that allowed you to Ki Pulse AS you switched to a different stance. Recognizing this allowed the controls to "click" for me in the first one. And if you're not Ki Pulsing in Nioh, I don't know how you're managing to survive in this game haha.

Its a prequel . I'm not sure the specific time frame but it takes place before nioh 1.

I absolutely applaud any dev team that can take the alleles out of the Soulsborne germ line and create something new and unique all of their own. It will only encourage more creative thinking and of course, many poor clones, but variety is the spice of life and it will be interesting to see how that Soulsborne evolutionary line manifests itself in the next gen. 👌🏾

Man I’ve not seen a review from one of my favourite KZbin reviewers in fucking ages! 😌 That’s all I wanted to say really, as much as I like the franchise I doubt I’ll be rushing out to get this one just yet as there are soooo many amazing games coming around the corner, and tbh I wasn’t that good at Nioh in the first place! 🤦🏽♂️ Anyway always a pleasure watching your videos Karak..👍🏾

Whats the difference between blue and red graves?
@tzera_rhuon4 жыл бұрын
Red graves represent players that have died; you can summon them to fight against and gain loot from killing them. Blue graves are used to summon players/ai for co-op.
@Griefball4 жыл бұрын
@@tzera_rhuon thank you! I was wondering. I played the first one, but if I remember correctly, there was some sort of faction system, so I kinda thought maybe it was bound to some sort of Faction fighting. But then I understand! Thanks ^^
